Engine Bay Clean-up Help and Ideas

I could really use some ideas and help on how to clean up my engine bay and get it looking nicer. It drives me nuts seeing it like this. I have to stay emissions compliant as well, so please keep that in mind.<img src="http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/files/5/9/0/6/9/EngineBay.jpg"...

    Adjustment of milage on speedometer?

If the only thing you did was replace the speedometer cable and the part that goes in the transmission, then you don't need to do anything. If you replaced your gauge cluster or the speedometer on the cluster, then you might be able to change that .

    walbro 255 question

Agreed, you can do the battery re-wire for about $15 and it will eliminate or greatly reduce the wine from the fuel pump. There are kits on e-bay or you can build your own kit.

    radiator hoses..

You can use an autoparts store like Checker or PepBoys or Advanced Auto, etc... Just double check the hoses. I bought a set from Advanced Auto for my GST and they gave me 2 bottom ends. You can also buy them from the dealership, they aren't much more than the auto parts store.

My car died of heart failure.

I loved my 96 GS-T. But I finally had to let her go. I had put so much money into her that I was stressed out everytime I drove it wondering what was going to break next. I no longer could enjoy her. I still miss it though, but it is nice not having that stress anymore. Sometimes you just...

Fumes in cabin. pros i need HELP

You got to also check for exhaust leaks. If you dump some seafoam into your throttle body intake line you will see smoke in the engine bay if there is a leak in your exhaust system.

Boost leak at throttle body cable

I know for me there was a significant difference. If you are leaking enough you can change your air/fuel ratio and loose plenty of boost pressure. Once the seals are replaced run a boost leak test and make sure you aren't leaking anywhere else. If you had a huge leak at the throttle body...

    Headlights without removing the bumper

I don't know how different the 2g Eclispe is from the Talon, but it is a pain in the rear to get to the "hidden" bolt behind the bumper without removing the bumper. On the 2g eclipse it is above the fog light mounting plates behind the bumper.

    Am I Being Ripped Off?

Not that I doubt the guy was giving you excuses about the clutch slave and master, you do however need to watch it. Every car I have done a clutch job in (well 2 cars) the car needed the Slave and/or Master Cylinders replaced. If they haven't gone out yet, there is a good chance they will...

Adverse affects of removing sensor after catalytic converter

I don't know if you live in an Emissions state, but you will be fined and fail the test if you get an emissions test done and you don't have a catalytic converter. I think the fine is $2,000 it is a Federal Offense to tamper with or remove the catalytic converter. I know lots of people do it...

Just installed a Evo 3 16g and the car feels slower

Make sure you have a compressor or and air tank to attach to the tester. You can use a bike pump (I heard) but it takes forever. Air tanks are at Wal-Mart for $16. You go to your local gas stations and use the air pump there to fill it up. When you do the test make sure that someone is...

To those who installed aftermarket alarm themselves

I installed a complicated Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 alarm system with remote start. It was very time consuming (22 hours). Most of the wires (including the door lock wires) are located in the kick panel on the drivers side, not need to go up into the dash. My friends and I went all out though...

    Removing Instrument Panel

Or you could just run the wires to the cigarette lighter light (the ring that lights up around the cigarette lighter) and tap the wire into that power source. Then the gauge lights only come on when you turn your lights on as well.

Just installed a Evo 3 16g and the car feels slower

I thought when he said slower he was taking about how the Evo III takes longer to spool up than the t-25 so it would be slower in that sense. You are right however, it probably is a boost leak as well. Plus having the boost set way too high for a stock system will bog it as well.

Just installed a Evo 3 16g and the car feels slower

As stated already you need the supporting mods. At a bare minimum you need the following to get any kind of decent boost: 195 LPH Fuel Pump or 255 LPH Fuel Pump with an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Fuel Pump rewire mod (highly recommended) Aftermarket Boost Gauge Boost level set no...

My friend wants proof [another 255lph fuel pump w/o FPR discussion]

Read any post on this web-site when it comes to using a 255 LPH fuel pump and you will always see that an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator is REQUIRED to keep the fuel where it needs to be when using the 255 LPH pump. I would also recommend your friend do the $15 fuel pump rewire mod as well...

    Very Weird Problems

    No power Help Please

    No power Help Please

I doubt it, but if you have an Advance Auto Parts in your area (I know you are in Central America) or an auto parts store like it and have them test your battery and see if the battery will hold a charge. If not, your battery is bad. If the battery does hold a charge, then there is a good bet...

I had a hard time getting past 4,000 RPMS in fact at 4,500 RPMS my car sounded like I was at 7,500 RPMS. It turned out that my Knock Sensor backed itself out and was giving the ECU false knock readings so it was messing up the timing. I went ahead and replaced the knock sensor to be safe...

test drive my car and blew it up?!

Sounds like your friend jacked up the car and doesn't want to deal with the fact that they screwed it up and would have to fork out more money to fix it once they own it. Couple pieces of advice: 1. Never let anyone drive your car on their own. 2. Signed Agreement before the test drive. 3...

removing stock fuel pump asap help

Again, I am not sure if this is the same as a GS-T but there is a wiring harness that runs through the firewall. It is in the middle of a big rubber boot type thing that protects the wires from rubbing against the metal frame and shorting out. You run it through there. Then take off the...

removing stock fuel pump asap help

Did you take the fuel lines off? If it is like the GS-T there will be a return fuel hose which will be held on by clamp. Remove that. Go under the car and find the fuel feeding line going from the fuel pump to the engine. Somewhere close to where the fuel line goes under the car by the fuel...

Need help with water pump pulley

I meant the power steering pulley housegsx? See the picture for a visual example. It works, like I said, I just did it 2 weeks ago. Of course you would have to do this while the belt connected to the water pump, and power steering was still on.

    Oil cooler leaking?

Go to an external unit. I just did. http://www.machv.com/exoilcoolfil.html You will still need to purchase the gasket, -8AN lines and connectors and the external oil cooler itself. I did all of it for $260, about the cost of a new factory oil cooler, and an extrenal system is better for the car.

Need help with water pump pulley

Do you have a long screw driver? Stick it through the water pump pulley holes on the side of the pulley closest to the front of the car. Turn the belt until the screwdriver stops the pulley from moving. Then crank the Water pump pulleys off. Just did this 2 weeks ago.

Coolant Leak by Timing Belt Shield

    Oil filter assembly ?s

I need help everyone. I thought I was leaking coolant through the stock oil cooler (2g) but I was wrong. (I am converting this to an external cooler system in the process.) There seems to be a leak over in the water pump area. I am trying to get the lower shield off but I am having issues so...

Brown Sludge and an Unkown Alternator Wire

I'll check on the oil cooler thought. Is there anyway to get rid of the stock oil cooler and use and aftermarket one?The wire turned out to some how have pulled out of the connector for the power steering pump. Thanks for the advice on that part.

Brown Sludge and an Unkown Alternator Wire

Not smoking at all, thankfully. You could be right about old dirt and oil mixing, I blew a headgasket before the engine replacement, and then threw a bearing shortly after which is why I replaced the engine. I doubt the shop flushed the radiator properly.
