I think this is the difference between a QDH8B and a QDH7B. I, too, put a quaife in my fwd years ago and it hit me like a sack of bricks. I should have done that mod first.A lot of good info in this thread from people that are extremely knowledgeable about cars.
What is the same? The way I said it was to signify that it was the cluster sending a signal to the ecu on pin 18 and not the ecu sending a signal anywhere..... for others that would be reading that maybe didn't understand how it worked.I understand what a terratrip probe is.... and why you'd...
Thank you for the thorough explanation but I wasn't confused about this much. My intent w/ a t007 was going to be to simply run that signal to the flying lead wire that is coming off the harness on my ecu marked "VSS".I just needed somewhere to jack that digital signal from. It was either...
Thank you everyone for the responses.Bastard, I think what you're saying here makes the most sense. I'll just take pin #18 and run that to the EMS for VSS. That will retain my cable driven speedo and allow me to still get a VSS signal. I don't know why I didn't consider that the speed...
Is there a good solution for adding an aftermarket VSS to a 1g?I tried searching various threads and all I could figure out is that it's a signal come from the cluster. Pin #18 appears to be the reed switch/vss from the cluster.Anyone that has logged this signal before knows it garbage, so...
Funny, not funny. We all do stuff like this and I think it's what keeps you sharp in the end. I would bet my bottom dollar that you never make that same mistake again.
^^ The jaws are for bench assembly right? I think the wrenches are good for installation of lines into the vehicle as well.... not really something you can use the jaws for, unless I'm mistaken.
Also, in regards to the aluminum AN wrenches, I think they're color coded so they're really easy to differentiate which one goes to which size, especially if you use them often. I know a lot of people probably aren't wrenching on hose fittings every other day but if you have many cars or are...
Oh you're referring to the fittings. I was talking about the black nylon hose vs. the stainless braided hose. They both have the same kind of thing on the inside the seals the pressure/fluid/air/vacuum/whatever..... but the exterior is what is different.Didn't consider that stainless braided...
Welp that didn't last long (ds-map.net). @rrussell - sorry I never clicked into this thread before and saw you asking about me. We are indeed still up at dsmecu.com. There's a ton of ecu information there including Evo8/blackbox flasshable OBD2 computers.
Ah very nice..... good enough for me, I just wondered what happened to Shearer because I knew they made, probably the highest/best quality manifolds possible for our platform. I take it that they've moved on because there's a lot of money to be made messing with other stuff, just like we see...
Neat! I have a question and a comment. Why are Shearer manifolds sold by Morrison now? What happened w/ Shearer? I've been hoping they'd fix their website for what seems like years now..... but I dunno what's going on. As for my comment.... Xona is Tial and Forced Performance. I noticed...
Welp i only got through your first sentence and already see where you're 100% wrong. I get it, you have an axe to grind, but you sound like one of the old carburetor rednecks that says "it's just better, it's easier."I think ti's funny how you're seriously going to sit here and argue with...
And carbon doesn't "drip out" of your exhaust. All exhausts have carbon in them, that should be expected by anyone. What people would NOT expect is moisture coming out of their exhaust.
As funny as that sounds, it is incorrect. Most DSMs I've seen will have condensation in the exhaust when they've been sitting overnight as @Alchemy pointed out.
It's likely condensation in the exhaust pipe blowing out. My car will make your hand wet and black if you hold it by the exhaust outlet while it's warming up.
^^I wouldn't say the big ports are better until you're over a certain hp level. There are drag racers of many hp levels and I wouldn't expect to see any gains from using a 1g head until my engine was over the 800hp worth of airflow mark. Below that, I'm not sure why you'd sacrifice the larger...
That is likely true, with the added benefit of having a more accurate engine position reading system. The stock 1g cannot detect random misfires like the 2g 2 sensor setup can..... and, as I said, it cannot account for deck height differences if you mill your head/block. It's probably also...
The 2g sensors are more accurate than a 1g cas.... they can also accurately account for deck height differences, I know someone is going to say this is a **** hair of a degree difference, but it doesn't matter when you're building "race cars". That little degree of difference matters and is why...
Because click bait youtube views on a channel with over 1M subscribers is $$$$$. They don't care at all if the product works or not or if you buy one, what they do care about is if you watch the video and give it another view on the counter.
An example is how he has said SEVERAL times that blah blah clutch can hold xyz horsepower.Clutches hold torque, they're sold/rated by torque. Period, the end, anyone that says a clutch holds whatever horsepower doesn't know what they're talking about.
I can't even watch Cleetus's click bait channel anymore. He's done and said some of the stupidest "car guy" stuff possible over the years. I used to like him, but I've outgrown his channel because he hasn't really grown. This electric turbo is just an attempt to get views because there is...
@Ludachris - I think one of the main advantages that hondas have over dsms is that their cylinder head design is really good in comparison. Most of the honda heads I've seen have a really smooth entry to the back side of the valve, vs. DSM usually has a turn the air must take. This alone...
I could be mistaken. I thought they used 2g rear frames for this..... maybe someone that has done it or knows more about it can help. I have a near perfect condition 89 colt GT that still is up in the air as what I will do with it. I know fully built fwd car is the kind that tries to switch 3...
I'm zombie bumping this to get a proper answer to a question in case anyone searches this later. This is EXACTLY the kind of information you will never find again posting on facebook groups and is the reason it's a good idea to have forum membership with a group of like minded individuals.The...
Very nice, I was hoping that is what you'd say. I looked at your site the other day and it appears you guys are making some really nice stuff. This may be a little off topic, but I know that a 2g rear subframe/axles are needed to turn a dodge colt into an AWD car..... I assume that you could...
^^Kinda funny that this is how the thread ended. I own a ProEFI 128 and there is absolutely nothing locked down on this ECU. It is better than many of the other "pay to unlock software features" ecu brands like to get you with..... and is one of the main reasons I chose to use ProEFI.I'm not...
^^ I'm not quite sure if they did or not, in regards to having stock ABS. I would be willing to bet that the parts from the 1g cars that do have ABS would likely work..... although I've heard the ABS implementation on 1g's was pretty crumby in comparison to more modern systems.
WELLLL BUMP ON THIS.....Jason, does not work for AEM..... and does indeed own ProEFI. He left AEM after helping make their product way better than that v1 garbage that dropped ignition outputs.
I just want a driven and non driven wheel sensor. I’m fwd and would love to have traction control. My Lexus has proefi128 on it and their traction control strategy is said to be the best in the industry. I believe it too because the other big name companies are just now starting to talk about...
I also purchased a new Bosch ECT for a Cayenne turbo. @Got Grip - do you know where to source the harness plug/pins for the Bosch ECT? I've looked around online and can't really find anyone selling them.... and it's probably because I'm not searching the right place or the right term.What...
I don't agree. Link cannot do traction control, rolling anti-lag, spark cut anti-lag, it cannot do drive by wire, it is limited on the size/resolution of the maps, it is limited on inputs/outputs as you mentioned, and the processor in the ECU is very outdated/slow by today's standards...
This is a bot, no point in replying to threads it makes:http://www.505turbo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3881-what-do-other-people-in-my-situation-do/ - exact same thread posted on another forum. I bet there are thousands. I'm saying this because Rock Auto isn't reading what anyone says here.
I'd suggest not installing the studs until the head is sitting on the block. I'm not sure why anyone does that stupid crap of leaving studs sticking out of a block and then trying to fish a head onto it without scratching anything. Makes no sense. There are dowels that locate the head, this...
One thing to remember is that boost pressure, as the above poster said, isn't a good measure of what your vehicle is capable of doing without knowing what turbo you're talking about and every other characteristic of the motor. An example is, a car that can blow up on 28psi w/ an evo3 turbo...
OMG, I haven't read it all yet, but thank you very much for posting all of this stuff that you have posted here in this thread (especially this juicy dbw post). I'm going back to reading now, lol.
^^I'm actually very interested in that. I was looking at Haltech Elite 1500's the other day. It seems very capable, they're not going to beat you up on cost for "firmware" options added in. Please DM me a price for 1500 and 2500 if you don't mind. I'll be ready to buy in a month or two.
