That is a 1g's CAS, Cam Angle Sensor. It tells the computer when to fire the coils and injectors. Just think of it a the replacement of a distributor. Yours on a 2g, is located behind the Crankshaft Pulley and does the same thing.
NOT GOOD! OMG
Spinning the crank counterclockwise may cause your timing belt to jump teeth. When turned in the counterclockwise position, the automatic tensioner relaxes and takes tension off the belt. It is very important that you check your timing before going further.
I had similar symptoms with a cracked valve cover. Same symptoms can be from valve cover gasket. I would only leak when there was high crank case pressure/ boosting times. Wasn't ever a big leak but it made a mess. I first cleaned all of the oily mess and let it idle for an hour or so, but the...
Lift each wheel up and wiggle the wheel at 12 & 6 position ( compared to a clock) and then at 3 & 9 position. There shouldn't be any slop in them. Any movement should feel solid.I would also take each wheel off and roll them on the ground to see if there is any deformities or bulges in the...
Fellow DSMers,Last month I acquired a 1992 Galant VR4. I bought the car from Texas and had it shipped to Ohio. The car has 84k miles, perfect running condition, and timing belt replaced 4k miles ago.The seller met the shipper and the shipper drove the car onto the trailer. When the...
It could be many things, ECT (Engine Coolant Sensor), O2 Sensor, etc. It would be best if you could give us a MPG rating buy dividing your mileage driven since last full tank by the gallons it took to top it off.Did you ever drive it before the head rebuild and know the previous fuel mileage?
Your oil is bubbling in your oil pan during a boost leak test? Never heard of that happening. Only way it could theoretically get pressurized air would be thru the turbo oil return.
Did you gas mileage reduce directly after the K&N install?
I had a similar problem on my 92 GSX. It would cut out, buck while driving and sometimes not start back up for several hours. I swapped alot of parts and spent alot off time diagnoising it. I finally checked and cleaned all the electrical grounds and the problem has never came back. It does...
The compressor housing on the EVO 8 is the opposite of what the 2g uses, air intake is on drivers side on an EVO 8. EVO 3 is the last model with the same configuration as our "DSMs". Its not really worth your time making it work IMO.
I had the same problem, I had to cut the tip of the axle completely of the hub with a torch. I was a little tricky but it worked. You will need a new end for your axle and a new hub. Good luck!
I agree with ryno, but also check the contact areas (brackets or clips) of your pads in the calipers. Try putting a small amount of anti-seize on those points and it might help.
Be sure to check your harmonic dampener (crank pulley). The rubber in it can deteriorate and allow the outer ring to slip. Check and see if it is loose or make a mark with some white-out, drive the car a bit, and if the line doesn't line up thats your problem. I had this happen on 3 of my DSMs.

Yes these are the same if you stay with your body style of 92+.Taillight styles vary from all of them. The Eclipse, 90-91 Talon and Laser are interchangeable, but the Talon 92+ rear bumpers and taillights are different.
Sorry they didn't work on last post. My camera saves images in .tif format and I am having a hard time converting them. I downloaded
a trial version of a software but I can only use it five times. Any suggestions?
I am the 99 GSX in the first picture with a for sale sign in it.
Are you inquiring about the wear on the backside of the belt? Aside the oil pan bolt being to long would a rusty surface on the idler and tensioner pulley cause a a semi gloss look on the Tbelt?
