Tanner, I appreciate your input. I understand what RPM means. I understand the value of looking at a single manifold's airflow characteristics at a given revolution per minute.
But, the rate at which the manifold runs through the rpm band is different for every manifold. That rate can...
I'm using the dsmlink text data to display the airflow of the manifolds in TIME rather than RPM. The test was xx seconds long. How much air was each manifold flowing from zero seconds to xxxxxx time stamp, regardless of engine rpm? That is what I am showing below using the data from the...
Personally I believe that if one wants to evaluate one manifold against a number of others, that Airflow vs. TIME is a more accurate way to see the real time differences between Intake Manifolds. Why do I say that?(((Tanner, someone just let me know that you REALLY, REALLY, know what you...
Have you guys looked at the dynojet comparisons? Overlay an Extreme or a Venom agaisnt a 1G...or any ot the others for that matter. I'll take an Extreme (for half their asking price).
I have zero experience with body kits, exterior parts etc.I'm trying to find a front bumper cover to replace my stock one on my 91 Eagle Talon TSI, something that will open up more space for a FMIC.Can you guys point me in the right direction?I should specify.. I'm not looking for...
I think it has been pointed out that there probably won't be a "winner". One manifold may have peak power, another may have a very broad power band. The winning manifold will be the one that best suits our own particular application in the best manner.
By the way, tests like this are one hell of a way to get great publicity for the shop running them. It builds the reputation. My thanks in advance to Hal, and all the other parties involved.
FP Makes a custom 02 Housing. The most recent version of it that I have seen has studs coming out of it that you can just slide your downpipe over. You can't yet understand how much work that will save you trying to get your downpipe on and off. Its beautiful. You could also fabricate your...
You are serious.
Do you know what a 90 degree elbow is?
The elbow is welded on to make connecting to your intercooler piping easier. Some people connect toward the passengers side.. others toward the driver's side. The stock water lines can be used... partly. There will be some jury...
MarkgHolland,
WooHOO!! Somebody else is thinking along the same lines that I am.
What are the dimensions on the Ford Lightning heat exchanger? Do you have a part number? Aproximate price? How large are the inlet and outlets? That fuel cell from rci is actually affordable.. and a...
There is alot of good information and research on this topic in this thread:http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87169&perpage=25&pagenumber=3The biggest problem that most air-water-air intercooling systems have is that the front mounted heat exchanger, what I call...
There is also a detailed review of the 3052 with dyno numbers here:http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108045&pagenumber=3I'm looking forward to hearing your results as well Jdmawd.
Frankly, you will not be able to get it running right unless you find an AEM certified tuner, and/or someone who has ALLOT of experience with the ems already. The base maps stink. On the other hand, those who spend the time and money, and who have access to a tuner, do get remarkable...
LoL. I agree on about the turbo being a work of art.FP is running the oil feed from the cylinder head. I don't know if they were initially. Someone somewhere said that the ball bearing GT cartridge needs allot LESS pressure then the filter housing provided.
In fact, FP sent me an oil...
I just want to second how well the turbo fit in the car, with about 1 mm clearance to the water pipe, and 1 or 2 mm between the external waste gate and the bolt that holds the power steering bracket on. The kit is a work of art.
I am a new 3052 Owner as well. I have been surprised at the remarkable customer service from Forced Performance. Also, The inlet on my Turbine looks great. The thing is as smooth as glass inside.
Robert and Corey at FP have been polite and have gone out of their way to make my experience a...
Is there anyone who is currently using Slim line fans with a large turbo who can tell us what size and depth, also CFM... that they are using? There is no possible way that my Drivers side fan is going to fit with the dump tube coming off of the FP-3055. What can I use instead of the stock fan?
I have a 3055. I'm going through the installation and test fitting process RIGHT NOW. I hope to have the car running by this coming weekend.
I can't tell you a thing about how it runs yet. Most important mods:
Tial 50mm BOV and 40mm External Wastegate
AEM EMS with MAP conversion and...
Beautiful! As someone currently shopping for a killer street/strip turbo, I look forward to seeing your future dyno maps. I'm also using the EMS with wideband tuning.A stroker, aftermarket intake manifold, cams, etc. etc. You have the hardware to run that beast of a turbo. 411 whp should...
Then I would do this. To avoid removing my transmission...
I can run a hose from the fill plug to the drain plug. I'll insert a pump.
Then I could T in the temperature sensor into the coolant hose. For my own curiosities sake that would allow me to determine the operating temperatur of the...

What do you guys think of this idea? The transmission has a drain plug. Could a hole be drilled and tapped through the center of it to insert a temperature sensor?Would that work?
There is a tuner named DRE, who runs a custom transmission cooler on his manual GSX. He may be the only person doing it.. but, he has an engineering degree and makes 430 WHP with a green.
I assumed that other DSMers would have heard of the reasoning behind this and tried it. Is he the only...
I'm sure someone will tell me why I'm completely wrong here.. but anyway; The GT-13 to my experience refers to the Garret Center cartridge CHRA part number 700177-0013. Did you catch the 13 on the end? ;)On this site:
http://www.turbofast.com.au/GTseries.html as well as two others...
The United States has murderous insurance rates. Going from 2 door to 4 door can drop your insurance by as much as 60%. Considering that the insurance payments START OUT high on both the STI and the EVO 8, two doors would put that payment into the rediculous zone for many. Rich dudes need...
I knew what I was getting. = ) My own absent mindedness is why I named the turbo incorrectly.Anyway, I have already asked for this thread to be deleted a couple of times because I sent that turbo back to exchange it. I hope to do a full review on a GTseries turbo in a matter of weeks.
Thanks for the link and comment.
In response to the comment that this turbo would only work best at 25psi or better on C16; I took 27 psi (14.7+27/14.7)= 2.84 on the compressor map. That puts this map operating outside of its peak efficiency, but still doing quite well. I don't see this as a...
