  2. Oil Pressure gauge: What is Normal owner's manual

Glad to hear it is helping to ansewer some peoples questions.
  3. How can i fix my headlights? (1Ga)

First check that the plastic pieces that connect the head lights to the motors are connected. Have someone turn on the lights as you watch the motors. (they are behide the lights under the hood against the wheel wheel side of the light.) If you hear the motors and see the arms move then chances...
  4. low oil pressure, should I be worried?

Do the basics first. Clean the connections like CStone said, inspect the wiring to make sure it is in good shape. A small break in the wire, missing sheath, slight grounding, poor connection all cause your gauge to be unresponsive. The oil gauges in dsm's have been know to be inaccurate to a...
  5. Why don't I have Power?

A simple straightforward test for the switch is to test for continuity through the connections when you press the button. I don't have my manual in front of e so I can't say which connections to test across. Anyways, you could also test for voltage across the switch when you press the button...
  6. Installation Assistance: Broken exhaust manifold studs [Merged 4-8]

There are these extractors called "super outs". They look let torx bits. These are made of high strength tempered steel and are a lot stronger than your standard screw extractor. They are about 3 times the price out the standard screw extractor sets but are amazing. I have a set and they are...
  7. Okay, so I managed to snap a TINY screw in half... Help?

Another possible idea is to drill with as big of a drill bit you can with out touching the treads. And then from there either try and collapse the remaining piece using a nail or other small piece of metal. If you have access to some of the screw on the back side try using neddle vise grips and...
  8. Brake Fluid in My Power Steering Fluid Reservior, Doh!

Brake fluid is corrosive and there is a chance it might wreck the seals in the power steering pump. For what it's worth it's probably best to flush the system. Better safe than sorry
  9. Strange problem

It ended up being a short in a wire that was causing the problem. Every now and then the wire would short out and thus the reason for the check engine light coming on then off and the blue spark. All fixed now.
  10. Oil Pressure gauge: What is Normal owner's manual

This post is in regards to the stock oil pressure gauge and how it often falls low when idling. In the past I, along with many other members have found that the oil pressure gauge would faill into the low zone of the gauge when the vehicle was warm and idling. For the first little while it...
  11. Strange problem

Well, I sqapped out the ECU with one I knew worked well, and I changed the park plug wires with some good ones. Hopefully that will solve my problem. I'll find out after the next few days of driving around.
  12. MAF problem

Check for broken wires. Sounds like the wires for your boost gauge have a short or open. If this is the case then chances are it is keeping the ECU from working properly and as a result it's calculating the wrogn air to fuel ratio thus bogging the engine down.Hope this helps, Ricky
  13. Weld A Block?

You should be able to weld on the missing piece just by building up the area with weld. You are going to want to heat the area first. Propane torch works good. You will need nickle welding rods to weld to the cast. Make several passes and build up the area. The heat from the welding will keep...
  14. wont go over 4k while driving...

I had the same problem when I bought my 94 laser. Ended up being a bad altenator. The electrical draw from the engine was greater than the altenator could produce and as a result it topped out around 4k and 80km.To check simply measure the voltage across your battery when the car is idling...
  15. Shut Down - while driving

I was having a simular problem when I bought my new car. It ended up being a faulty altenator. The electrical draw from the engine would be more than the altenator could produce and ended up killing the battery. A simple test when it is idleing is to measure the voltage across the battery. There...
  16. No power to the wheels, is it the clutch?

Well, It's been a couple weeks now. I ended up finding another laser for sale and manageed to get it cheap. It had a newly rebuild tranny and clutch in it and the previous owner was in a hurry to sell the car as he was about to move for work and couldn't bring it with him. It's a 93 laser with...
  17. Strange problem

I was thinking about that on my way to work today. My last car, 91 laser. Had a simular problem with the cutting out and error message that disapeared. It ended up being the capacitors and I just ended up fixing that myself. Perhaps that might be the same thing here. I'll check it out tomarrow...
  18. Strange problem

Last night and today I have had this recuring strange problem. When driving at around 80km/h the car will kind of miss a step and the check engine light will come on then go out. It happened about a total of 3 times so far and just seems to come out of no where. When it happened at night I saw a...
  19. No power to the wheels, is it the clutch?

Well, I guess I'll have to pull the tranny and see if I can fix it. If not I'll have to see if I can find a good used one. Thanks for your help.
  20. No power to the wheels, is it the clutch?

Ok, I tested those things. Not looking so good. Both axles are intact, and the levers move well. Only thing that really jumps out at me is the oil that's all over, but that's because of my main oil seal is leaking. I tried lifting both tires and spinning one, the other did not move. Tried from...
  21. No power to the wheels, is it the clutch?

I believe it was slipping from time to time. Not to noticable. Usually I would just back off on the gas and it would be fine. I'm also hearing an unusal noise under my hood now when it's idling, like a tinging from the transmission side of the engine. Not sure what that might be, it comes and...
  22. No power to the wheels, is it the clutch?

Hello,I'm driving a 91 Laser, 2l, fwd. On my way home tonight I had to slow down for the car in front of me so I took my car out of gear and used the brakes. When the other car turned I went to put my car into third gear and heard a clunk and then rpm neddle jumped up when I went to give it...
  23. Noise problem, 91 laser

The noise seemed to disappear for the mst part but comes back every now and then. I notice it a little when I turn and I'm starting to think it's either the wheel bearings or the rear brakes.
  24. Noise problem, 91 laser

Whenever my car is moving I hear a high pitch noise from the wheels. It sounds like a grinding noise. I thought it was the breaks and changed them the other day. The old one's looked fine, and after replacing the brakes the noise was still there. Any ideas of what it might be. It goes away when...
  25. Start problem?

Hello,The other day I noticed my car (91 laser, 2L, non-turbo, fwd, 4 speed) was having a hard time starting. At the time I suspected either the battery or the altenator. The fallowing day I went to start the car, and nothing. I had power inside and the head lights worked fine. So I...
  26. How much did you pay for your DSM?

I paid $800 Canadian for mine at auction 3 weeks ago. It's a 91 laser. I've put in another $600 into it since, and redid the body and intake system. Also bought a new muffler. Looking into a new exhaust system if my budget allows it. It had 150,000 kilometers on it when I bought it. I plan to...
