The following questions are for the gurus of steering haha. My car has been down for well over a year but that was mainly due to me being out of commission for about 8 months due to neck surgery. I've finally gotten around to getting a new turbo and getting the engine running almost perfect...
Nice I built one as well, did you do all the work yourself? The motor is just a 7 bolt so everything will bolt on from one. If you have any questions just pm me and I can see if I can help out.
I had something similar happen, my spark plug broke in half and fell into the cylinder. I had to take the head off because I couldn't get it out by any other means. I took the time to get a MLS head gasket, cams and arp studs haha.
Nice looking car! Check out this site for some ideas and inspiration. LIL EVO - 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage 4G63T All-Wheel-Drive
That car was a sick little thing.
Have you tried adjusting the BISS screw? If the throttle was out and some one adjusted the BISS to get the idle right it would be out of whack if you moved with throttle line. I can't remember how to properly set it so I would search for that and go from there.
I consider a lot of the parts on my car rare as they almost all came from an Evolution 1. I have a real Evo 1 4G63 with trans and drive train, suspension, brakes, exterior and interior. I also have a set of Evo 4 recaros (front and back) which are currently in my yellow car in my avatar. My...
I always get girls asking why my steering wheel is on the wrong side (rhd) but it's usually because they think their boyfriends would like it. I'm like oh cool? haha I've taken a few girls for rides but I think the car scared them :thumb:
that cost just a few hours of my day and the normal 40 dollar price of the bottle. i actually bought four, drank one, kept one closed and gave two away to very good friends.
I've been into Tool for as long as I can remember. I've seen them live 3 times and I've had the pleasure of meeting Maynard James Keenan in person! :hellyeah:
There's a few reasons why it would come out such as blow by or a bad case ventilation system. It could also be a bad seal on the top of the dipstick. What you can do is find a way to hold the dip stick in. I use a small piece of hose with a small clamp to keep it in.
I graduated last year from St Mary's University in San Antonio Tx with a BA in Biology. I was planning on going straight into medical school but I had to delay due to neck surgery which I'm recovering from right now. My next step is probably going to be grad school because I want to go into...
I love the stock one, it has a great feel and it's got a pretty solid weight. I like mine so much that I tried to switch to a newer one and it felt wrong so I threw the old one back on. You can tell it's been through a lot because the outer layer is coming off but it still gets those gears...
That is the Water pipe or coolant pipe. At that particular area it is connected to the water pump and it's sealed by an o ring. Did you put any pressure on that pipe or anything? Has it ever been replaced? If you are going to replace it go to the dealer and order it. It is pretty annoying to...
Is the AC belt also wrapped around the powersteering pulley? You should be able to see it if it is. I ask because My motor might have a different setup and I don't want to give you false information and you be with out power steering haha.
I would just take off the down pipe, it would make your life easier. Whenever I do a bolt on swap I usually put all the the lines on the turbo, bolt the turbo to the manifold and the o2, then put it in as one piece, it is MUCH easier this way. But if you have the manifold in you can push it in...
Look at VFAQ.com, learn to love it because it has mostly everything you need to know. For your swap, look under the drivetrain, scroll down and there is a page about auto to manual.
it is very very easy to lose those ball bearings if you are taking the transmission apart. I had this happen to me, luckily the ball only costs like a dollar or something from mitsubishi. It is possible to replace it without dropping the trans, you just have to remove the end case and then...
I've gotten parts from jack and TRE, I can only say this; Jacks communication blows TRE's out of the water, but the quality of work from TRE is top notch. I've never dealt with shep but I honestly think there is no way to go wrong with either of them.
I would say check for boost leaks again and do a visual inspection of all your piping and couplers. I had a friends supra that was doing this and he claimed he did a boost leak test. I went under there and found a fist size cut in on of the couplers which was the issue. Also, what are you...
vfaq.com under drivetrain and then go to rebuild. I followed this and used my own judgment when I did it. I wouldn't suggest it for beginner mechanics though.
How long did it take you? I remember I had to remove my 5th gear because the slider was jacked up pretty bad and wouldn't stay in gear. I have an evo 1 transmission and Jacks trans hooked me up with the right slider and everything. Needless to say it was a fairly easy repair that didn't take...
There is virtually no appreciable difference if you are going to mod the engine at all. Yes the evo motors are going to have alittle more power in stock form but as soon as you start modifying, it is the exact same thing.
I have my installed in my test pipe. Reason is because I made the test pipe, only cost about 5 bucks and I didn't want to damage my down pipe or cat back haha It works fine from what i've seen
What was it reading while you were driving? During idle it can possibly jump around but what really really matters is what it's doing while you are in gear and driving. Just cruising around you should be close to 14.7, under throttle you should be seeing lower numbers hopefully around 12, if...
I had a problem just like this for a month until I changed out the PCV valve. At like 3500rpm in any gear it would start to vibrate the ball inside the PCV and it sounded like it was coming from the dash. I figured it out by accident. I would check this just to rule it out since it is very...
Is it low on water? or maybe there is an air bubble in there some where. I know when ever I have even the slightest bit of air/low water the temps will shoot way up like that.
Are you talking about the output shaft by any chance? Your axle seals and transfer case don't really have anything to do with one another. If your axle seals are leaking it's because they are either bad, or the axle isn't pushed in all the way. Now if your output shaft is leaking, it might be...
You need a gear puller to pull off the gears, and the viscous coupler has a clip on it that needs to be removed before it will come off. You can buy or rent the puller at autozone.
Ouch that sucks! Oh well you have to pay to play right? I've seen a 3000gt blow up a transfer case at the track, it came sliding out half way down the track haha. I'm glad you are smart enough to pull over, I hate when guys blow something then proceed to drive all the way down the track and...
Maybe an over sight on your part or maybe you just removed the lugs for some other reason but are you only using 2 lug nuts on that side?? that would cause movement in the wheel for sure!
Might be a dumb question but did you put more fluid in it? And if you did, did you bleed the air out of the system? I know whenever I drain my cooling system I'll run it with the radiator cap off so the air will come out OR run it up to temp for a while then wait for it to cool off and add...
Probably tune related, maybe a boost leak. I was working on a supra a while back with similar issues and we had to completely re do the tuning and we found some weak spots opening up under boost.
have you checked the fuses? I know it sounds dumb but it's the easiest thing to check that would make it stop working. I know my tach stopped working and it was just a blown fuse.
I use an ACT2600 with a light weight flywheel on my car. The pedal is moderately stiffer than most but it has ok feedback in it. I've never had an issue with it slipping or anything and I've been running it for about 2 years now.
