Oh yeah, didnt see the thread tag, my bad. Yeah I wonder why the price difference? I hate how they do that, it's not like the 420 one has significantly more material or anything.
I run a Fluidampr and I dont see why you wouldnt get one, as cheap as they are. Especially if you're rebuilding an engine, why not just get an upgraded one?
Good to still see one that hasnt been ridden like the village bicycle. I've been on this forum for a long time, but it wasnt until around 09 that I actually got a DSM.
Like anything it just needs the proper maintenence. If you just keep in mind that it WILL consume oil and you need to keep a close eye on it, it's fine.
Did some more digging on this today. I tore that transmission 90% apart and found that the parking pawl works perfectly and is locking on fine. The slip is happening after that. What could possibly slip on the output side of the transmission?
Yeah, and just make sure that you let it set up for 15-20 min before you bolt it back together. There's no way you'd ever find the proper gasket for it again. It's for that reason I'm kind of hesitant to take mine apart.
I used black RTV to put my blow off valve once, i had to take it apart with a hammer. If you want it to never leak again, I'd imagine that'd be the way to do it. Maybe go with grey RTV instead though, the black is super super strong.EDIT: I assume you're talking between the two halves of the...
I'd check your engine fuses (the one that has the two fuses tied together in the holder) Make sure those both look good. Also look at all the big ones to make sure none of them are obviously blown.
In terms of atomization I actually spoke to some guys at FIC and he said the amount you'd gain is very little relative to how much more strain it puts on the fuel pump (and the extra fuel pump required to maintain double the pressure). Unless you're running a really balls to the wall track only...
In case anyone was wondering, yes you can take an alternator out through the top. Also put on some new battery terminals, the old ones were shot in every way possible basically.
The rear subframe/rear end/fuel tank would probably go into the GS/RS just fine. It's the reversed engine and lack of AWD transmission that really kills it. You might be able to get some kind of Evo transmission to work, but I have no idea why you'd do all that work instead of just getting a...
Have you considered a Borg Warner EFR? I'd think you could get one set up to spool super fast, and also lose a bunch of complexity since they can have an integrated BOV and wastegate too. Cleaning up the engine bay is always a plus when you're trying to troubleshoot.
Hmm in that case i'd look into maybe cutting a bit out of the turbo side of the intake to shift the MAF toward the turbo. You may need to get a different coupler though if you do that. I'd look into that because at least on my Injen intake like that the opening on the intake was sized for a...
Yeah I hear you there, I got a PCV waiting when I get home. We'll see what it does. If I can go back to the knock sensor just being a bastard again i'll be happy with that. I have a new one ready to go in anyways, just trying to cross off problems. Even if the stumble isnt caused by the...
I thought the questions meant the adjustment, which I dont have. Of course the mechanical timing is correct, I'm not sure who wouldnt check that 17 times when putting the timing belt on. I know we did.Oh and I forgot to put I have a GM MAF set for blowthrough, non recirc BOV. It was...
1). Any boost, vac, or exhaust leaks?
Tested to 20psi, only leaks when I wiggle the throttle shaft2). Verified mechanical timing?
It's a 2g, doesnt have that
3). Verified base timing?
It's fixed
4). Ignition system
COP or Stock Coil: Stock coil
Wire brand and Age: MSD Superconductor, very few...
It was for this reason I chose to run the clearances a bit loose and just aim for higher oil pressure. Plenty of oil all the time and enough clearance for it to work.
Well I got the TCU working decently (a hard kickdown on highway acceleration did put it in limp mode briefly but I was on a long trip and couldnt check the code). So it shifts automatically usually. When it was stuck in limp mode I put the car in 3rd at around 3000.
You can run the stock maf with an intake no problem usually. In your case i'd recommend something like an Evo MAF. The DSM MAF gets very choppy around low 300's HP wise. The Evo is pretty bulletproof
Ohhh you have a 1g, yeah that's overran with a 16g then. I didnt see a build thread and just assumed it was a 2G, which is good up to about a 20g depending on the setup. I'd go with an Evo MAF, you can get an adapter plug and it'll be good for most anything you'd throw at it. I'm not sure if...
Log injector duty cycle to make sure it isnt hitting 100% or something. A way to see if it's the MAF or not is to clamp it right before the point it's cutting off and see if the problem changes. You're just gonna need to watch the AFR like a hawk since the airflow will be static after the...
