It's nice to see that you got a start on your project Josh.I'm currently working on a 71 VW Beetle for my next daily driver, then comes the fun car. I'm glad to see that there are a few DSMs still left in Reno. I think everyone started to wise up :p
I was kidding Josh, that's why I put the " :p " at the end. I think if you build your motor to take it, it is just like adding a turbo kit or supercharger on a N/A motor.
Care to explain? As I see it, the more air and fuel you cram into the motor, the faster it will be. Ryans car is flowing ALOT more air than that 16g powered car, and Im assuming hes using more fuel to compinsate for the extra air.I'm not bad talking the other car, in fact I am impressed and...
So this guy Ryan raced has a 16G powered car correct? Im sorry to say, but the odds are on Ryans car due to the size of his turbo and supporting modifications. When Ryan's gets a better clutch, his car should be even faster. Also, when Ryans's car is better tuned, it will be faster. Fastest car...
It's exactly how it sounds, it runs from the turbo all the way back to the muffler. The turbo connects to the 02 housing, the 02 housing connects to the down pipe, the down pipe connects to the catalytic converter (or race pipe), and the cat connects to the "cat back". Sorry I had to dumb it...
The stock 1g bov is fine unless its malfunctioning. Spend the money on a Walbro fuel pump, 2g exhaust manifold, and/or boost controller. The upgrade path on this site has been proven 1,000 times over. In case you havent seen it- http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/1gturbo/stage1power.php
Dont waste your time with Pace Setter. Apexi is overpriced. I would recommend RnR racing exhaust (ask Ryan). Good stuff, good price. www.rnrracing.com I believe.About the pulley set. They arnt a good idea unless your motor is just about perfectly balanced.
It's nice to see your doing something productive Morgan.Ryan, I forwarded the software to you a little bit ago. Let me know if everything worked out ok.
Your secret is safe with me.I'll be up in Reno one night this week Ryan, but I'm not sure which one. I'll be sure to bring your disk and pen when I make the trip.
Like Josh said, taking out the tranny in an AWD isnt an easy task. You might want to start researching or make some calls to find someone to do it for you.
I seriously doubt that the dealer will help you out. The throw out bearing itself isnt expensive, its paying someone to get at it. If your going to tear into it you might as well put an upgraded clutch and resurfaced flywheel in there.
I'm not going to get into this but you new guys need to see that you are fueling it. Please dont think we are about drama. Everyone shut your mouths and get along :)
I'm still alive. Ive been getting my last little bit of traveling done since school starts on Monday. The GVR-4 is collecting dust, nothing new.Peregrine, my friend Ben has a pretty quick camero.
Since the interior shot is the only one showing up, I still cant tell what the car is.Ryan- Im back in town, and I should be in Reno sometime within the next three days. Ill call you and give you the pen and disk.
Let me know how everyone does. I'm in Texas right now, I wish I could see these races. On a positive progress note, I got the galant home the night before I left for TX. Now I can start working on it and maybe even get it running
