Anyone ever get yelled at for warming up your car?

When I was living at my parents house, their driveway is between their house and a 3-flat, with a garden-type apartment on the lower level. So literally the windows are on the ground and even with car exhausts when open. I would always lets the Talon warm up and would hear about it all the time...

Help! Hot engine bay, Cold coolant reservoir | CEL small Leak

If the water pump itself was shot you'd be having overheating problems. With you saying that the temps stay perfectly at the middle on the gauge, it should be good. Always starts with the T-Stat since it's the quickest and easiest and cheapest. That's usually the problem anyways. I personally...

what was your biggest speeding ticket

2 weeks after buying the Talon, 50 in a 35. Actually was clocked at 49 but cop bumped it up so I got the higher ticket. Was $120 or so with driving school. Paid off, went to class and all clean record.Lots of warnings in the Talon, but that was my only "moving"' ticket ever.Got a red light...

Do people love driving your DSM?

My good buddy drove my Talon a couple times just to see what the turbo felt like. He helped me with a lot on that car and was always my ride when it broke so I felt I had to. Only let him have minimum time behind the wheel though. There is one time we were drinking at my place and I got pretty...

    Bike Carb Rebuilders

Does anyone know of any good carb rebuilders for bikes? Got a Kawasaki GPx750 that needs rebuilds bad. I don't mind if I have to ship them somewhere. But if they're in Chicago that'd be even better.Any recommendations? Thanks

ARP Head stud Torque spec? 30-60-90?

You may be right on that and that being the TTY ones. I withdraw my 1/4 past statement on the ARPs. 30-60-90 for sure though. Sorry.

ARP Head stud Torque spec? 30-60-90?

I used to do the 30-60-90. Make sure you do it in the proper order though or it won't seal. Never had an issue with the head not sealing properly with doing it that way.

turbo 246 crane cams, what can I expect?

Had the Crowers Stage 2 (don't remember the specs on them or how similar) but had ended up losing some low end power but had a nice kick in the power curve at around 3600rpm. That was before I had turbo. Add the turbo into that mix and it kicked pretty nicely.

    I/H/E Bolt-ons; Runnin' Rich?

Intake, exhaust and intake does not need MS. Early on, I had all that, fully built head with cams, and only added a SAFC to lean it down some when had some dyno time. You paid good money for that motor and work. You can do a full high performance rebuild on your own half of that. As much as...

    Your favorite muscle car?

Love mine. 1975 Monte Carlo Landau. Although some don't consider it a muscle car, I consider mine one. Has a SBC400 modded pretty good, mild cam... has a bom bomb bom when rolling up. It's a head turner for sure when rolling anywhere. Loud too with longtube headers and 2.5" pipes. Neighbors...

    Getting car ready for show

Hey everyone. Not DSM, but same concepts apply. Got a bunch of shows that I'm taking my Monte to this coming month and getting her all prepped. Computer issues

What are you using to see the TPS readings?I had the same issue when using a SAFC; it only read the TPS at around 75% at WOT. The ECU was seeing 100% but the SAFC would rarely ever. And that was after the cable was adjusted over and over again. When I installed MSnS, was 100% right off the...

    95 fuel setup

So you're running the car with the stock fuel pump? Don't boost at all then. Hell I wouldn't even drive it at all until you get the FP."Tie in" meaning installed? Not 100% sure how the AFPR gets installed, but would assume that it's in the return line just like the FMU.

    95 fuel setup

Do you have FMU or SFMU?My original setup had a 12:1 FMU and a Wally 255fp. That's all you need for 8lbs. When I built the motor I went with a SFMU, 750 injectors and MegaSquirt. I did have to modify the rail to cut out the FPR when going that route, but not needed to do with the FMU and...

Just moved to west Chicago today!

There are almost TOO many DSMs in Chicago and the suburbs. I'm on the Southwest side (Midway area) and used to always hit up the cruise nights and meets with the people around. Lots of good people around though. Stay away from the DSM Ricers though. They think they're the shit.

    Charcoal canister delete

Pretty easy. Just find everything and pull it all out. Any lines still left in the car, just cap off with vacuum caps. New Clutch Modular Vs. Non Modular?

I had a full Fidanza setup on mine. 8lb flywheel, 4puck disc. Was a great setup for the time, granted I didn't put too many miles on it though. The lightweight flywheel will help the engine rev up quicker. Had to relearn how to drive after installing the setup. RPMs drop much quicker and just...

Who all is pushing boost on stock 420a internals?

Originally had stock internals, fully built head. 8psi on a little T3 with FMU, SAFC and FMIC. Ran for about 10k miles or so to about 120,000 miles. I'm sure would have lasted longer if didn't get in lean conditions as often as I did. Stupid me.

    Chevy Small Block Help

The Haynes book actually. From what I read in it, all models except for V6 were supposed to be at 12 and 12.Still when drawing pics, one full turn of the crank and the cam would then be at 6. So I don't get how that would be the issue. Maybe i'm just not getting the visual properly.
