Nothing pisses me off more than when somone mis-represents the DSM community which I love. While not thinking clearly, when I should have walked away or closed the window, I replied and embarrased myself and potentially DSMTuners.com at the same time. I want to appologize to ALL of you for...
It is ebonic for Shit. AND, he is a MORON! :rolleyes:There's no place like DSMTuners... ::clicking heals::The last reply from HammyOx85 was worth the time of my life spent reading that thread. It sucks that this moron is mis-representing our cars! :toobad:
You will get a better reading at normal operating temp if rings are the culprit. My car does not smoke until it gets warm, but the compression test from a cold motor still read lower on the #2. Hopefully you're ok since the motor was rebuilt 9k ago!Did I mention that mine started out as a...
Me too! Do a compression test and leakdown test ASAP. Sure wish I would have. I am basically working though the other guys headaches trying to get my car going. it's now going... almost, but to my dismay.. blue smoke after car warms up... compression test 160-130-160-160 WTF... leakdown...
sounds like air in the lines or a faulty master cylinder. probably both. start by bleeding the brakes. if the power booster/check valve is faulty you would have a stiff pedal and a fun time stopping the car with manual brakes. check for leaks as well.
found your BISS screw slowboy's website while I was there looking for other stuff. Figured I'd post them to help you out. :thumb:http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=3754& <-BISS kit

do a leak down test according to this site. http://www.dsmgrrrl.com/FAQs/leakdown.htm I found my blown rings on the #2 cylinder this way. This will help you determine what is causing your compression loss. Do this before your head is pulled so you are not guessing later. It is also possible...
It has been said numerous times before, if you modify your DSM you are going to break stuff. If you want a reliable car, don't modify it. That really goes for more than just DSMs. The value of your car is up to you and the person buying it. You could try http://www.kbb.com to get a "market"...
I would take someone who knows how to drive a manual to drive it for you. If you are learning how to drive on a test drive looking for potential problems will be nearly impossible! You are not going to notice them, you'll be to busy trying to drive! Also, the clutch in a AWD DSM can be tricky...
I've been doing a considerable amount of research wanting to convert my 92 Talon TSi AWD to Manual. The gear ratios between AT and MT are different. Starting with the driveline 'I know' you will have to replace the Transaxle, Transfer-Case, and Rear Diff. You would also need a flex-plate...
yeah an address might be helpful! I should be getting my car back from Altered Atmosphere before then so... count me in. As long as I know where I'm going I'm good! :thumb:
I got most of my issues straightend out. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and now I am getting an accurate reading. My throttle position sensor is reading between 9% and 10% at idle, if I put the pedal to the floor it reads 100%. I am still getting a TPS CEL though when idling. I'm going...
I had a similar thought of cutting and patching the current harness, but the wires are all dried out and brittle. I'm going to price out a new harness tomorrow from the dealer so I can start fresh and protect the wires for heat and drying out. Also the wires are so old that soldering and...
I've come to the realization that this car is a bonified piece of crap! The engine is weak, the turbo is blown, and the wiring harness is dry and brittle, everytime I look at a wire something else happens. I cleaned the oil off the manifold and temporarily stopped the smoking from it so I...
you can put another 90 ecu in without changing the wires. The eprom ecu gives you the ability to replace the chip in your ecu with either a programmed one or DSMlink once it has been socketed. All of these questions can be answered at this link...
well I say 'I think' on the smoke because there is not a lot of it coming from the tail pipe now, plus the car is running rich due to my injectors so it's mixed with raw fuel. I'm just glad it freakin runs at this point. I'll check the ISC and do the boot leak test tonight, I still need to...
update: I've replaced the plugs gapped at .028 and PVC valve. The car seems to run better, but still has a rough idle. And the dipstick does not pop out. My car is automatic and the service manual calls for my fuel pressure to be at 41-46psi at idle with vacuum off and 33 with hose on. I am...
Hey guys me again. I got my new ECU and the car is now running on all 4. It runs smooth when I hold the throttle above idle and stumbles at idle, could be my injectors and no compensation. The SAFC is zeroed. I am also getting a TPS CEL. I am pretty sure the seals are bad on my turbo...
2g MAF is definatly enough, but there are added benefits to the GM MAF+translator. Such as what was already mentioned. It also will work in a "blow-thru" configuration alowing you to vent you BOV if you wish to do so. AND, there are no freakin honeycombs, so when you do decide to make more...
no problem, another DSM Brother helped in a time of need. I think it's better when more than one person say the same thing. It helps the poster feel like he is getting the right answer.
The more solid mounts will make the vibration of the motor more noticable. Most of the people that remove the shafts say that they only notice it between 3000-4000rpms, and after a while don't even notice it anymore. I think the power you will free up will overcome the silly vibration of the...
I have a 92, our fuse boxes are different. I saw that, I just pointed out that it may be something you're really not aware of. I'll check my fuse panel to see if something stands out that you could look for.
Yep, when cig lighter fuse was blown in my stratus the horn wasn't working either. What wires were you messing with? The light in your lighter is on a separate circuit. Make sure the wires are still conencted to your lighter, there are two, one on the case/tab is a ground and the other is the...
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/balance-shafts.htmlremoves rotating mass from the engine and takes the balance belt out that has a tendancy to take out timing belts when it snaps. Read the above link. If you couldn't find that then you probably didn't acutally read the rules of this site. I'd...
It COULD mean they are warped. Make sure your pofile is up to date. If you have stock rotors you can possably get them turned, $8 per rotor at Pep Boys if you pull them and carry them in. I'd also recommend getting your tires balanced. When you put your wheels back on make sure you tourqe...
I don't think that would be caused by the exhaust, but funnier things have happened. It's probably more like your wheels are out of balance, or your rotors could be warped, you'd feel it in the brake pedal as well if is rotors. It doesn't hurt to get your tires balanced and rotated, why not...
Maybe a link or two would be helpful. :thumb:Non Turbo to Turbo Conversions:

OK, I saw that you corrected your typo, thanks. If you have an AWD 1g or even 2g you have a turbo motor. Unless someone was really ignorant when they replaced your motor. The turbo 2.0 and n/a 2.0 are the same block and head w/ different internals, they don't look any different. Ignore what...
The Greddy Type RS BOV is not intended for use on cars running less than 20psi. If you are not running this much boost you should use a 1g or Greddy Type S or similar BOV. A crushed recirculating tube means that the hose used to recirulate to the intake has been pinched or otherwise obstructed.
are you replacing the strut mounts as well? I would recommend taking your springs/struts/mounts to a shop with a spring compressor to get your springs installed "safely". If you have access to a lift and air tools the job will be fairly simple to do, rust or no rust. I have a 3/8 drive impact...
I would venture to say that you will not find one to bolt up to your car. It would probably save you a lot of headache to just find another 5 speed for your car.

You can't expect something for free just cause the guy squealed your wheels. Yeah it sucks, and I'm sure you feel violated, but get over it! There is nothing you can do about that guy being a butthole! Another word of advice I'd like to pass on is: wait until they are done servicing your car...
