Check your exhaust manifold gasket along with your Manifold to turbo gasket. If either one is leaking a substanial amount of exhaust it will cause this problem. Also make sure your vacuum lines to the wastegate acuator are not leaking or collapsing under vacuum pressure.
If a mechanic diagnosed the problem and recorded this on paper i would take it back and make them fix it. Where I live we have a few shops that honor their diagnosis if it is wrong and will fix it only charging you for the parts. I might be worth a try. Sorry for your loss. Good Luck.
When the car gets warm the rubber lines do become soft and pliable. Since the astegate acuator vacuum line is near the turbo it will become very warm most likely sooner than others.
I understand your pain. I have installed prothane mounts on my 1g. They are a pain but keep trying there is a way to work the mount out on there. You should not have to cut anything. Good Luck!!
This may not apply to your situation but here goes. I had a 90 gs before my current Talon Tsi. I had a problem quite the same to what you are dealing with now. I fully rebuilt the motor at 99,000 and replaced every electrical component I could think of except the coil pack. I did test them...
You may want to check the vacuum line running to the wastegate actuator. I persanally had a problem with that line. It was leaking at the connection and whenever I stepped on the gas thus applying vacuum to that line it would leak. My wastegate would open so my turbo could spool and then it...
Personally I have not run into this problem yet. I will remember that when this problem does arise. I was not aware of the fact that the screw was made of copper.
The easiest way to get the screw out to replace the o ring is to buy a magnet on a stick. You can get one at your local auto parts store and they only cost a few dollars. If you do alot of your own repares and upgrades I garuantee it will come in handy.
The need for speed in my life began as a child. When I was 7 my dad owned a 1967 Corvette. It was one of the rare Stingray Fastback models with A 427. It was a beautiful mint condition dark green monster. He had to sell it when we moved to help pay for the house. To this day I would love to...
I've been there and know exactly how you feel. I found an entire steering column in a junkyard for thirty bucks. I only needed the ignition switch like you but the dealer ion my area wanted 120.00 for the switch alone.
What do you mean by injector service? Because if they pulled the injectors they may not have seated them back in place properly. If so you may be sucking air in around the injector seals. This in turn will keep your car from accelerating properly. Does it run rough at all otherwise?
