Well, this is the most recent photo I wanted to share with you of this 1g restoration. The big difference here is the addition of the Eclipse side skirts. Adds a much needed touch to the Laser platform.Side note: The back half of the red 2g Talon on the trailer, a friend of mine caught it...
Next we had to get the gloomy clutch replaced. It had some sort of Rhino-pac clutch.
We put a Competition clutch stage 3 into it. It is a but much for a FWD but it was on sale from Extreme PSI
An absolute must. I had my 2ga talon down there in 2014. What a blast!Apparently, these cars are seldom seen on the Dragon's Tail. With 2 of us in 1g DSMs at once we had so many comments on them being there and the old "I haven't seen one of these in forever, awesome cars guys"
Final product. We have since purchased a front lip and 1g eclipse side skirts for it. They were installed this past weekend. Once I get some current photos I will upload them.Note: this is actually my wife's car we are building.I also wanted to show you all that this thing along with my...
Thanks! The interior was actually found in a 1gb eclipse that was just stored in a garage. The factory gray interior seats in the lasers are... not great.
Let the sanding and body prep begin. Also, another score were the evo enkei wheels in the pictures. A different friend wanted his newly acquired and powder coated rpf1s on his evo and needed 2 tires, which I had. He traded me these wheels for 2 90% tread tires...
Cut the bad pieces out to replace. I purchased left and right rockers from Steve Miller. The section where the axle attachment point is from the previous photos was the biggest concern. Actually had enough from the purchased rockers to repair this car and another 1g laser.
This is what it looked like when we pulled it home. Not to bad and everything came with it. Also the only real issues were getting the engine and trans back in order and it has a lot of rot... I will upload more shortly. The repair/build has been fairly well documented along the way. Mostly...
I believe you are correct. It was strange to me at first that, with the car not moving just idling the pump would never get loud. When it was driven on a windy road, in the more aggressive corners you could hear the pump change tone as I assume the strainer would get a little cleaner.Anyway...
I just wanted to post an update on the solution to the problem I was having with my 1ga.Turns out the tank had a bunch of rust/scale and other stuff that causes the pump screen filter to clog after the car is in motion. When the gasoline was sloshing around kicking up the rust/scale it would...
Yeah, its not a great design. The 1g AWD cars and the 2gs are a much better design in regards to the fuel tank although the FWD tanks are very easy to remove. Any way, I have been driving it for 2 days now, it drives very well until under moderate load. In addition, I have an SAFC2 that I will...
I agree. The fwd 1g uses the bolt in the bottom of the tank to hold the sending unit in position. So gasoline just rushes out. Getting the bolt lined up and threaded back in while gas is pouring out is even more fun.
I have noticed the tank is slightly dented, not much though. Just yesterday I filled the tank and it still leans out under moderate load. I am going to pull the pump/sending unit back out to inspect once the tank level is closer to empty.
I thought the sediment as well may be a possibility. As for a fake Walbro, I cant be sure. I did put 2 different "Walbros" into it and found the same result.
Steve, This is on my 90 laser,
Once the tank gets closer to empty, I am going to pull the pump out once again to check all hose and electrical connections. The regulator is a Tanks INC from summit. It works great on the car I swapped it from with out an issue.A little update...
I re-wired...
90 laser Rs turbo fwd.
Only mods are exhaust and 255 Walbro with fpr. AEM wideband and boost.
When the car starts up the pump is quiet and fuel pressure is steady at ~38psi. About 3-4 min after, pump gets loud and pressure drops to mid 20s and fluctuates from 22-30.
This causes the car to run...
Fixing little things, getting mine ready for the dyno. My girlfriend has a 1g laser, we have been working on it a lot fixing neglect from the previous owner. Of course putting miles on them as well.
The Problem is localized to cylinder 1. I have BC springs and retainers in it, the lifters and rockers have all been switched around already. I took it down the road Saturday, after changing to stock oil, thought it may help running it a little. Didn't help at all. Checked all the springs they...
They took 5k off the head, checked for leaking valves, and cracks and such. At first when the lifters are bled it has perfect compression, only when the #1 cylinder lifters are pumped up, does it then loose compression. Is there any chance it may have to thick of motor oil in it? The last time I...
Here it is, I put crower 272 cams in my 2g, i also installed topline revised lifters. With everything installed, cylinders 2,3,4 are excellent on compression. Cylinder 1 is low. Did a leak down test, intake valves are leaking. Removed the head took it to a machine shop, checked out fine...
I ordered the TT harness from extremepsi, tried to install it, didnt plug in. I sent them pics of it, they cross ref. it to their other harnesses and they said it was identicle. But mine does not plug in at all. So i thought the auto and manual trans might have different ignition harnesses.
Can anyone tell me if the ignition plug is the same on an auto trans as the manual trans? Trying to install a TT with the plug n play harness but it will not work.
So i have my Maf-t tuned in pretty good through the rpm range. Sunday i was driving near my house, i got on it pretty hard, ran great the whole way to 6k then it started cutting out. Not fuel cutting but still cutting out pretty bad. :notgood:Then about two hours later, was driving it again, got...
Its pretty big! Im guessing the amount of cars somewhere in the high hundreds. it depends on the turn out. 2009 sucked but every year before that was really good. Sat. $20, Sun. $15.
