Hey guys, so I absolutely need new headlights (gonna try to track down a fresh pair for my 95 talon) and I was debating on whether or not to do a true retro fit with a kit from the retro fit source or go with something more plug and play from a site like retro-solutions. The latter seems like...
I hear ya man. Sitting there with blue tape and a razor for about an hour and a half was definitely not fun. I actually took that whole reflector section and both tails out to paint them. I couldn't imagine trying to do it while they were still on the car.
I did the same thing a few weeks back, except I went all black (minus the reverse lights of course). Also, instead of using the red nite shades, I just picked up some automotive paint that was the closest match to my actual paint color. It was a royal pain in the ass taping off the "talon" but I...
I figured I'd update my situation as well. After getting home from school this semester and finally having the time to take my wastegate off and inspect it, I found that the problem was not the springs OR the diaphragm. It turns out the valve stem wasn't seated properly, thus causing a slight...
This about sums it up perfectly, especially the VW statement. Everyone I know of with a VW around here is either a total d-bag and/or just plain strange. They just seem to be a different breed. The "American muscle" people are just that, you talk to them about their car and they are the most...
Meh...reminds me of a honda with those loud rims. I don't know if it's just me, but I really find colors like that (pink, lime, and even white) on rims makes the whole car look like some cheap plastic toy. If you like it, then that's all that matters though.
Eh, who knows if it's true or not. My girlfriend is into cars, just doesn't know much about them. She's more into how they look and the sounds they make, exhausts, turbos, BOV's, etc. She's cute, too. So I know for sure they're out there...just a rare breed really.
Sounds good, I was on their site yesterday talking to customer service through that little AIM they have. They seem like genuine people who are willing to help. All they would need to do is fill out some paperwork. It's good to know there are still places with awesome customer service.
That's good to hear! Did they charge you for the springs? I'm thinking I may email both companies as well, just to hear what they have to say. Next weekend can't come soon enough...I want to get this fixed lol.
Sounds like you figured out what your problem was, hopefully some new springs will be able to correct everything. Was it hard to take apart the wastegate? When I eventually get home and take it off, I may need to open it up and see if this is my problem as well. Nothing should shoot out at me...
Unfortunately, I won't be home for another 2 weeks because of school. Hopefully I'll be home and able to take a look at it during the Easter weekend. It's funny though, I completely agree with you on the space issue. Taking it off isn't the problem...getting to it is. I didn't need to bend or...
Keep me posted on what you find when you tear it apart. I'm thinking I may do the same in May when I have some time after this semester is over. I boost somewhat normal though, which I found to be strange. Took it on the highway and got on it a little, hit 10 psi. I was only about half throttle...
I don't even know if I can get into boost, I haven't tried. My slave cylinder is on its way out, so I took it easy. It's kind of hard driving with a floppy clutch pedal haha. I may take it for a spin later though, and I may send Tial an email, too, just to see if maybe they know why. My vacuum...
Which I'm really hoping isn't the case. I'm stumped honestly, all the vacuum lines seem to be hooked up properly from when I installed everything last year. The only thing I was unsure of what to do with was the stock boost restrictor solenoid thing, but I just ended up leaving it intact...
So I finally got my car back from the body shop this weekend and I take it for a spin around the block only to notice a strange gurgle. It sounded like an exhaust leak and I pinpointed the location to my dump tube. I feel exhaust coming out of it even at idle. I have a Tial MVS, which worked...
Ah and here I am all this time thinking it was some sort of special paint used to match the body color ROFLThanks for the info man, I'll look for some this weekend. I have to find and spray some plugs to fit the holes the body shop put in my bumper to hold the front plate on...which they...
Looks good, but I have to say...I like my thumbnail. A buddy of mine said something to me a while back that stuck with me (he had a 2gb with the high-rise spoiler). I was considering going wingless until he said to me, "without the wing, it would look even more like a used bar of soap."On a...
Those look like some pretty good prices, I'll probably order from them the next time I need brakes. I've seen dimpled rotors from brembo a few years back, but haven't seen them since. Do the dimples add any sort of advantage over drilled and slotted or just slotted?
It looks like it's in decent shape, hopefully there isn't any rust or anything. I personally wouldn't drive an hour to see it, it's automatic...:toobad:
I had the same exact problem last summer when I painted mine. I went with the satin black followed by a light coat of the graphite to give it a little something different. The saying "the paint job is only as good as the prep" definitely holds true, but wasn't the case. I prepped my wheels for 3...
I wouldn't advise getting brakes off of ebay...A few years back, a buddy of mine tried a set of drilled and slotted rotors from ebay on his civic. He was driving his girlfriend around at the time when one of his rotors cracked going around a turn in the rain, he ended up losing control and...
Thanks guys, you're really all the reason I've been coming to this site for years. I was leaning more towards keeping it honestly, I'm not ready to give her up yet lol. Ever since the last accident (asshole was looking right while making an illegal left) a few years ago, I knew if anything else...
Well it finally happened, totaled my DSM during this recent winter storm. I hit a patch of ice, lost control and slid into a pole. The front bumper is trashed, along with my fmic and I cracked the radiator and pushed the radiator core support back a little. The insurance company considered it a...
I'm pretty sure if anyone with a decent looking car parks like an ass and then sets up some cameras, people will look to see what's going on. Personally, I'd give that car a closer look in person, but I wouldn't stop to take ****ing pictures of it like it's bigfoot or something.
Alright, so after doing some hunting, I came up with a few ideas. I'm not sure if any of them will work however or even if they're worth trying. I was thinking I could try to wrap my external wastegate, but due to the odd shape I highly doubt it will be effective (I don't know if anyone has...
I actually tried that the ghetto way and it worked. I did a few highway pulls with my A/C on just to keep the fan moving and there were no signs of melting. Granted, the blade I cut off made my car shake like crazy, it did seem to stop the melting. That's why I want to use that toggle switch...
Is that slimline you're referring to the 2 fans/shroud package? I would probably get that if I needed the 2, but my stock radiator fan is still perfect. I only really need one fan.for those who want to see what happened, here ya go.
I actually figured that switch would be a lot easier than trying to wire something up and bring it into the cabin from the engine bay. And as for the Spal fans, are they hard to wire? My main fan still works so there isn't a reason to get rid of it. I want something that I can use the stock...
I just searched and checked the ads honestly, I didn't even think to look at the part out ads. I'll try that.Edit: So I sent out some PM's and hopefully I hear back. Now does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening again? Would that fan toggle switch work? Or is there...
I checked but couldn't find anything in the classifieds in terms of a stock AC fan and ebay has a lot but they all say direct replacement for different part numbers. I don't know the part number of my AC fan so I really don't want to just guess and buy something for $60-$70 only to have it not...
So I just put my punishment fmic on and now that I can actually drive my car without worrying about blowing off an intercooler pipe, my o2 mounted tial mvs is getting crazy hot and it melted my stock AC fan. I haven't noticed my temp gauge moving any higher than normal, so I doubt I'm...
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I just came across the torque app on my Droid incredible and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. The reviews seem pretty nice, but I have a 95 with the hybrid protocol or whatever. If it does work, I can just find a Bluetooth adapter on eBay.
I just cut the blade off and kept it on there, it still works but makes my car shake like crazy ROFLShould I just replace it with another stock AC fan or would I be better off going with a SPAL or mishimoto or some other slim fan?
Liquid, that's exactly how my set up is, except I'm still using the stock radiator and fans. I'm not overheating or anything, it just gets crazy hot under my hood ever since the punishment fmic. I originally thought it was an exhaust leak but I can't feel anything leaking in that area.
I'm pretty sure its my o2 mounted tial mvs. It's literally right behind my fan and I think this is the reason for the melting. I thought of a few ideas and I'm looking for some input. I don't think I can fit a heatshield over everything so would it be possible to maybe wrap my wastegate with...
I've seen that eclipse concept since way back when it was first introduced. I find it funny watching it now...seeing how enthusiastic the rep was in saying "hopefully it'll be out in a couple of years." I'll admit, I hopped on board that bandwagon, but nothing came of it and nothing ever will...
Damn and all this time I never thought about doing a 2gb talon bumper swap because I thought I would need new headlights...I've always liked the look of the 2gb talon bumper on a 2ga, the only thing I don't like is the big ugly eagle stamped into it. I much prefer the badge.
subscribed, I've been looking into getting a new hood to help lower temperatures recently. I just don't have the cash to get anything custom made for me. I hope to see some good results.
