Mine is 3300 lbs with half tank and race wheels on. Mark, where did I state that the spyder was the heaviest anyway? I didn't....just said it was heavy. That's full weight with a/c evo IX weight. My point was my car has exactly what it needs to roll the way it does. Nothing more. Let's not take...
The Spyders are heavy. The car is as simple as it gets to pull my pig through the 1/4 @ 142MPH, still with reliable street-ability and good manners. It's not a car with a ton of money thrown at it, either. It's been a long road getting the car where it sits today...Good luck on your journey.
This is the best way to do it.Wait to toss the belt on till the engine is ready to go in, spin the oil pump until the oil fills the head, toss timing stuff together and drop it in. After its in, pull the plugs, disconnect the CAS or Inj, and coil pack and let it crank until oil is seen in...
Yes, I and most people who do this are aware of that being a high torque spec. I was using 12mm ARP L19's. My point was if people plan on using using the ARP spec of 110 lb/ft on the new stud setup, what problems may be encountered. I would think using a stronger, thicker stud would allow you to...
You guys aren't concerned about 110 lb/ft torque spec of the new setup? I remember a little while back reading through a discussion of people cracking the webing in the corners of the cylinder head when torquing 110-115 lb/ft. I myself ran into an issue with my previous block cracking after...
Honestly, I didn't think of mentioning DSMTuners, PhiladelphiaDsm, or DSMLink forums. Probably from the excitement and my mind racing while writing mods, accomplishments, and the fact that a dream of mine has come true. The whole experience was on a very personal level for me so I kept it humble...
Well, with the open diffs (coupled with my driving) the wheel spin wouldn't allow me any lower then a 11.3 ET. For my 1st time out with the Hoosier drag radials and the new 6 puck, I clicked off the 10 second pass. Since then I have improved slightly to a 10.85 @135.9 mph but I'm still getting a...
Thanks guys!!! I didn't want to say too much before the mag came out ( I was in disbelief that this was a reality and thinking it was to good to be true) BUT I just picked up the December issue of Modified tonight with the Spyder gracing its pages! Not to get all weird on you fella's but...
My best friend works at JMF, we help each other out a lot so it saved tons of $$. Not to mention Jim (owner) is an awesome person.I did however upgrade the pipes though, all the pipes are 2.5" now and the only greddy parts retained were the core and the elbow up top. The car will have a...
Its a JMF Drag SMIM, they're a bit bigger then most. What appears to be a vacuum block is actually a distribution block for my methanol, which was once direct port. The Greddy intercooler is a bit obsolete for the setup but I was focused on running 10's the way is was before shooting for a...
The Modified Mag issue with my feature will be in December's issue. It should be at the news stands early November and if you have a subscription to the magazine, you should have it late October maybe.
Shame they don't appreciate it as much as we do LOLJustin built the cage. We did it after hours at JMF thanks to Jim. Jim helped bend the hoop and J did the rest. Took about 40 hours on weeknights...Couldn't ask for a better friend :thumb:Thanks guys!
I'm not sure yet, The Editor of the mag is on vacation untill the 29th of this month. I may have an answer to that in early september. I'll post the date up when I find outThanks! The last 2 or 2 and a half years have been fun.
This was on Hoosier Drag Radials, BW362, 34psi, 93 octane pump gas with methanol injection (30/70 mix with water) 10.4 AFR's (very rich), Conservative timing curve (15* up top) learning how to launch for the 1st time on a ACT 2900, ACT unsprung 6 puck disc and Hoosier drag radials. . I had a...
Hey guys. I got out to the track today to make a few runs and figured I'd post up the results of the best run.BFGoodrich g-force sport street radial 225-50-16, 19psi front- 17psi rear, stock chrome wheels, full weight + awd conversion with 93octane pump and meth injection. 35 psiI was...
I would check and make sure the balance shaft is set properly in phase. Most people pop the timing belt off to remove cams and install lifters...so it may have been missed when doing timing?. The balance shaft may appear to be in phase (marks line up) but it actually needs to be rotated again...
My stomach is upside down rite now.... I'm glad I had the chance to meet Wendy, and help out with her dream. My condolences to the Pate family and friends through this tough time. Rest with angels
Great news! Did Wendy feel well enough to give it the 1st start up? All that's left is breaking the components in, some tuning, and then 10 second passes! I may have missed it throughout the thread but which track(s) will the car be this coming season?
I picked up the BEP open t3 housing and a JMF t3 exhaust manifold and had some pretty good results! I went to the dyno @ 35 psi, pretty rich up top (10.5 afr) timing maxed at 19*. She still has a bit more in her at the same boost level.603/510 off the streetDyno pull from...
Matt's motor has been sitting for a good while now...well over a year. Prime it by spinning the oil pump with a power drill, toss it in, and throw some boost at it.
Guys...I know this thread is 5 YEARS OLD...But, its here already so there is no need to make another.I was curious to see what the FASTEST or QUICKEST 1/4 mile spyder to date is now that were 5 years later then this 12 second pass discussed in the thread here. Spyder being either FWD or...

Good time today guys! It was great to catch up with everyone and meet some new people! Im not used to DSM meets anymore since their so rare these days....Its rare to roll to a car meet and see so much nice work and knowledgable people... I may be biased though :)See you guys next year!
Im leaving here at 10... should be there around 11ish. I see soda/water is not complete, I'll be bringing atleast 2 cases of soda (12packs) and 1 case of water (unkown qaunity)see you guys there!
Yes, Check the valve to see if its working properly. It should only allow air to flow one way. If that seems to be working properly, replace the brake booster.
Replace the brake booster. The booster works off stored vacuum pressure, if there is a small leak in the booster then it will not sufficiently store the vacuum to assist the braking, which makes the pedal feel stiff when applying the brake. If there was a leak in the brake booster diaphram, it...
Good info, Can you link me to where you picked up your LC-1 for that price?LC stands for Lambda converter correct? Meaning it will automatically convert the lambda reading to AFR to give the most accurate reading for any fuel specific gravity, so 11.3 AFR is 11.3 AFR with both race gas or...
PeepersI'll deffinately check that out. I appreciate the wire diagram! For the tank straps
When I initially dropped the bolts threw and secured them (bolt from up top and secured with nuts on bottom of each bolt) for the gas tank straps, I did notice some slack on the straps with the...
Nugz, I thought you were bringing this to a shop to waste money....Drain fluids and inspect. If there is a problem with the trans, t-case, or rear, it will become apparent when you find flakes and debris in the fluids...or no fluid at all.... Save the money for the tow and shop labor and do...
