I can buy brand new aftermarket aluminum intakes for v8's all day long for 150 and I'm not talking about chevy crap either, rarer olds and pontiac parts. The simple fact that anyone would pay this much for this manifold proves that there are people out there with more money than brains...
For what it's worth, when tested, manley springs usually downrate their springs, ie, they usually have higher pressure spring than what they're rated at. It's one of the reasons I went with them. A little cleanup on the ports, manley springs, otherwise stock head, 8.5k rev limiter all day long...
It's a shame he never mass produced these, would have been nice to get my hands on one of them without spending over a grand, which is just silly. Love the manifold, love the design, but the price was/is ridiculous, 1200 can be spent on a bigger turbo for bigger gains. ANY manifold over 500 is...
You have a vacuum/pressure leak. Do a leakdown test (similar but not the same as, a compression test). The gauge will read a higher pressure than the engine is seeing, the turbo is overworking itself, and the car will be down on power. The easiest/safest way to stick a 16g on with 650's would...
I'm sure I'm not the only one out there. A few years ago I picked up one of zaklee's clear cam covers, one of the first batches iirc. After all this time, it's fogged up badly. Has anyone refurbed their cam gear cover?
I've found that a free flowing exhaust helps as well as removing a lot of plastic shielding from under/around the engine bay to remove heat. You can also washer your hood/remove the rubber seal at the cowl, this will let some heat out as well. If you REALLY want to cut the heat down, wrap your...
Despite what a few misinformed people will say, a 255 WILL overrun the stock fpr and cause you to run rich. My fuel pressure jumped by 10psi just by going from a stock pump to a 255. Luckily I was smart and listened to what the real tuners said and had an afpr so I could dial it back down. Put...
You do understand that evo motors face completely opposite of dsm motors right? That you would have to custom fabricate mounts, adapters, etc for nearly every single thing that bolts to the block right? A lot of work to end up with the same possibilities of a stock dsm shortblock. Do you just...
Stay away from the drilled rotors. Just imagine some chinese kid working a drill press drilling the holes and then throwing them in a box going straight to your door. There is a reason they are cheap and plentiful. Slotted are ok but are really for show, nothing more. Vented rotors are perfect...
All an oven is is a big metal box, he just made the box bigger.I do industrial powdercoating for a living, great part is that I can do any part and any color I want, for free. :D I've got ideas on making parts out of "scrap" powder. That stuff is amazingly strong, a 5lb sledge won't even dent...
Or, uhh, he could take a lil econobox and stuff a 4g63t into it, I'm sure someone around here has done it and could point him towards the light... :hmm:
I like how there is little to no proof that using a solid pulley causes crank breakage yet everyone, including the site founder, is sitting here being an armchair engineer. WHERE are the pictures of the dozens of broken cranks? One picture from 5 years ago means NOTHING to me. The multiple...
You guys need to remember to ISOLATE the fuel pump from the frame it sits in with as much rubber as possible. I run a 255HP in the colt, I have no interior or sound deadening and with the car running, you can barely hear the pump. I reused the stock (csm) lower rubber isolator and doubled over...
A lower timing cover would be awesome. Functional and super strong to combat the annoying tendency of our covers to bust into pieces when tightened a tiny bit too much. Someone already makes a clear upper so it would be pointless to make a cf upper with the gears showing.
Lofty, mech said you're ### as hell but you should rent the other half of his shop, you can come borrow that trans AND have a place to put it in and to hurry up and get a job and stop bein so lazy. ROFL
Your fuel pump spins when the cas spins. On a properly running car, it shouldn't take more than a crank or two to start. If you have fuel pressure right away, it could be your coolant temp sensor even if the cel doesn't come on. Double check the wires running to it too.
It's so much easier to run a relay off the stock on/off wire and running a new power wire. It is insanely annoying to run a manual switch on a daily, it starts to look like an aircraft takeoff prep list just to start your car.
Fix your deadtimes first. If you have PTE 680s, your fuel pressure should be set at 43.5psi instead of stock levels as that's how PTE gets their flow ratings up an extra 30cc.
