The tab, the lack of pre-drilled holes in the bracket and the extended lower tube. The fin pack is probably different as well since we use a DSM specific fin pack.
We don't get a chance to post here a lot but I'm not sure where you got that info from but we most certainly do not hate DSM owners. I still own a 2G DSM, I'd be a self hater if that were the case LOL.Just to clear up some mis-information, our kits start @ $309 shipped to your door and we...
His fix was a new core. This is a problem with the latest batch that I'm making sure gets corrected on our next order. There's two ways to fix it, cut and weld the pipe at a different angle or shoot it back to us and we'll send you a new core that's been measured :)
While I'd love some more data, companies don't tend to stick around very long handing out free products. We're not having any trouble selling the existing kits with the data we currently have and I can guarantee our intercoolers are one of the top 3 selling intercoolers in the DSM market. We...
My point is that just because he bought a generic similar style FMIC from ebay, doesn't mean you're going to receive the same thing unless ordered from the same supplier at the same time to ensure they're getting the intercooler from the same source. These guys use dozens of different suppliers...
I don't see your point. We have dyno's to prove our superiority over a similar sized 3.5" core which I don't want to name simply out of respect for the vendor.Buy a kit if you're interested in doing a comparison test, we're running a sale right now :)VRSF 2G DSM Front Mount Intercooler Kit...
So a dyno test done by an independent customer showing clear gains means nothing. Right. I'd take you up on that bet but I doubt you're in a position to pay up once I won :thumb:I never said they were all bad, I just said you can't assume the one you're getting is going to be anything like...
This was an independent test, not done by us. Completely unbiased which is why we use this information. I don't believe in biased testing since anyone can easily sway a dyno to produce the results they want. We also have guys running 10 second quarter miles, about to break into the 9's with our...
Because it is. That's the original ssauto design that barely works for most people. In order to use that setup you generally have to cut the piping and lose a bead rolled edge. Again, our piping looks similar but it's actually different. If you compare our UICP angle to something like MAP's...
Definitely not the same kit. We share the same end tanks. Other than that, you're gambling on the eBay intercoolers in terms of their fin packs. Those guys chase the cheap kits when pushing products on ebay which means they end up taking whatever cheap core their supplier has on the shelf...
I apologize, I put the part of your quote in bold but it seems it doesn't translate when quoting. I was referring to the comment about their cores offering better radiator flow which it does not.Again, they make great cores and I will gladly sell an ETS intercooler if our product is...
While ETS makes great intercoolers that perform really well, this statement is inaccurate. Our DSM intercooler design utilizes straight/louvered fins to allow airflow to the radiator vs ETS's staggered and offset fin pack which blocks air.Our intercooler isn't too big at all for a 16g...
I'm not sure where you're getting a VRSF FMIC for $240 shipped but there's a great chance it's not legit. I've posted quite a few times about the differences between our kit and the other kits that are similar. The core we run is designed for us using a specific fin pack made for DSM's which is...
What are your power goals? ET goals? We have cars running sub 9 second ET's with our core on the DSM platform. Do you plan on going for a lower ET or are you just assuming it's going to be a better option because it's ETS?
Now I'm a big fan of ETS products & I've been selling them forever on multiple platforms so please don't take this as disrespect. While your intercoolers have indeed gone 8's, THIS $650 one hasn't ;)ETS is still a great option and it's really the only other one I'd recommend if a customer...
We have guys running 10s and pushing over 700whp. Limiting our intercooler to a 16g would be a waste ;)Will Stanton currently holds the record for top trap speed and et on the stock block running our 2g kit. You can't push that much power on the stock block without incredible cooling ability.
The piping won't actually fit since we use a short route core vs Punishments long route. It's much easier to just create brackets for the stock fogs and lower the FMIC core an inch or so to clear the pipes :)
Yeah that's odd. Must have been welded incorrectly from the factory. Not sure why you posted before contacting us, but shoot us an e-mail or a PM and I'll get this replaced or returned depending on which you prefer.
Believe me, if there's room for error, someone's going to make a mistake.I've seen these installed incorrectly a dozen times. I've also seen people not use the o-ring because they "think it will leak", I've seen people strip the threads and claim it was stripped out of the box (lol), I've...
We use just the o-ring without teflon on our installs. Honestly if the o-ring is installed correctly it shouldn't leak. We had the same o-ring design running on our 800whp evo without an issue :)
Always good to find an additional solution :)For those who are currently looking for an intercooler kit, we're running another sale on these :)http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/424325-vrsf-1g-2g-dsm-fmic-sale-ends-31st-get-while-gettins-good.html
Thanks for the kind words guys! Current GB up here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/417745-vrsf-1g-2g-fmic-group-buy-fall-sale-extravaganza-continued.html
Some cams will definitely free up some power & help with your knock issue. A ported head would be on my mod list as well.I'd love to say swapping to a VRSF fmic would solve your problem but you have a couple other bottlenecks to work out first. I'd go with a set of GSC S1's. Hit me up if...
The dyno numbers provided prove that the kits aren't really equal in terms of power. ;)Shorter routing, less bends (each bend creates friction & heat) and a more efficient, engineered core (internal/external fin pack design) are what create a more efficient intercooler. That dyno @ 412whp...
I hate to bring up a dead thread but there's mis-information being thrown around. The only similarity between the two kits is the end tanks. The bracket location, piping length, included piping, included couplers, bov flange design, mounting hardware, brackets themselves and most importantly...
2G kits are in stock & ready to ship :)If you want a short route option, the VRSF kit is the way to go, if you want a smaller core but don't want to cut a small triangle section out of the radiator support (10 minute mod with the right tools) get the PR.Can't speak for PR's intercoolers...
Yep, I'm a vendor but the things you mentioned have been tried in the past with no positive real world effects. Will internal baffling help maximize efficiency of the core, sure but will it also protrude flow, absolutely. It also adds unnecessary cost when an un-baffled end tank can get the job...
