there should be a letter stamped on the end of the 1g cams(a through e or f i think). i dont know about the 2g ones but find out what the letter is. there where quite a few different cams throughout the years and it depends on a few things... are the 1g cams from an auto or manual? the autos had...
you cant see them that well in the pic of his car.... a bunch of people on bc.dsm.org asked him too.....and he said that was where he got it. i asked him too cuz i think it looks damn sexy!
i hate to burst everyones bubble, but it is not a rare factory option on his car, not saying that there is no such thing, but that picture is not. hes in my local club, and the web site for the bumper is www.fxdesigns.com .
its a sweet looking bumber and his car is one nice ride!o i just...
i also forgot to mention that the plastic panels come off easy and shouldn't be brittle so they can be twisted pretty good to work them all out.
not sure off hand which panels have to come off.
it isn't that hard.... you just undo the bolts and electrical clips, i think its a 10 mm bolt, and they pop out no problem.
just remember when putting the new ones in(not %100 sure how much like the stock ones they will be for attachment) not to tighten the bolts too much. on the stockers, if...
same with us here in victoria, b.c.
for every 5 talons/ lasers theres an eclipse.....lots in vancouver as well...
only a few spyders here tho....and i only know of a few in vancouver too...
well your off to a good start......our n/t's are lotsa fun...
i gotsa pacesetter header and catback exhaust(not pacesetter). its 2 1/4 mandrel bent with no cat and a straightthru magnaflow muffler. i also got a k&n. doin manual turbo cams soon.
although it is fun, i'm still turboin my...
thanks
does anyone who has done a swap with either motor know stuff about them?
i'm pretty sure that they are quite close....like bore, stroke etc....but just wonderin what the true differences are
are these the same engine with a diferrent code, or are they different?
bore, stroke, pistons etc.
i have a friend that is seliing a 4gcs and was wondering if some nice ross 4g64 pistons from magnus would do the trick
thanks
don't all fuel pumps pump out a certain volume(lph) at a certain pressure(psi)?
therefore if the stock fuel pump max's out at 150lph at 50 psi(not real #'s) then the walbro will max out at 190 at that same pressure therefore giving a greater volume of fuel at a givin pressure (not sure if this...
i am going to be rebuildin my engine soon(and turboing) and i was wonderin if it is possible to put in 2g hydraulic lifters in. the reason i ask this is because i have heard that the 2g lifters are less likely to develop lifter tick......
so my 2 q's are:
will 2g lifters fit in a 1g head
and...
TONS of exhaust q's too
we should get people to get a pic of there exhaust, and give a bit of info about it and how it feels etc..
like:
91 laser rs 5 speed
i have a 2.5 inch custom mandrel bent exhaust from the header back with no cat and a nice straight thru magnaflow muffler. it hauls...
i have a 91 laser with the 4g63 in it...... and i have a pacesetter header(which i have had absolutley no greif with after 6 months)
i also have a custom exhaust. can't remeber if its 2 1/4 or 2 1/2....did it about 4 months ago because mine had a huge hole right after the cat....... no low end...
http://www.angelfire.com/il2/freestyle/turboconversion.html
here is a link on everything you need in the vfaqs.
i personally don't aggree with his oil squirters idea........ they will help reduce piston temps and therefore knock.
safe boost on a n/t block with GOOD compression is around 8...
back pressure isnt always bad.
n/t cars need backpressure for low end
for a turbo car tho, the turbine wheel provides all the needed backpressure, and the best exhaust for a turbo car is no exhaust.
if you really want to spend the money on a dual exhaust.....do it for looks not performance...
it can be done quite easily.....there are a few extra wires that need to be added.
1 for the mass air sensor.
1 for the knock sensor
1 for the fpr soleniod and
1 for the bcs
heres a site for the pins that each wire goes to.
http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/ecuschematics.html
it probably had a specail ecu........ if you just slap on bigger injectors, the ecu will still think that you have the smaller injectors and you will be running rich. bigger injectors and an safc to lean them out would give a decent increase with the turbo cam because more air and fuel would be...
does it idle bad all the time or only after you've been driving for 5 -10 minutes?
thats why i built my heatsheild........my car was stalling instead of idling after like 10 miuntes
i own a 91 laser n/t that i plan on turboing
picked it up for 500 canadian so please dont tell me that i should sell it and buy a turbo car.
i plan on running an evo 16g, 550's or 650's, supra sidemount and other supporting mods(piping etc.)
my goal is a low-mid 13's car
for tuning, should i...
ive had it done for a long time....... and i get lotsa rain here to without any problems......... make sure you get a k&n too........ you can just take the aircan right off and screw the filter on to the intake pipe....same way that mine is done..... it just sorta hangs there......i also made a...
you also gain an inch in rotor diamater.......which results in more braking torque being produced
and, i dont know how much this would effect stopping power, there is more material to absorb heat on the caliper......a small amount, but everybit counts......
i noticed a huge difference from...
the swap to the bigger calipers is unbelievably easy! i'd recomend it to anyone who wants a step up from the inadequet braking of the single piston calipers.
not only will you be able to stop faster, but warping a rotor is VERY hard to do on the street!
my old rotors useto rattle the steering...
well i have a 91 laser n/t and i put big brakes on it........because i plan on turboing so it could be true
are the rotors bigger and the calipers 2 piston?
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/2GMAF-1G.html
heres a link to the vfaq's
use them wisely!
thinkin about doin this soon too(along with the turbo conversion)
just wondering how much you paid for your maf?
planning on doing it myself as soon as i find a backup car....... theres plenty out there on the subject......
i'm goin with a 6bolt(i own a 91) with 2g pistons and 550's and evo 16g.
do you have any experience rebuilding engines? this will be my second one......and my dad is a mechanic(man...
cv joints will make a clunking noise when your pulling into a parking spot at a decent speed(aka sterring wheel cranked all the way over with a little bitta speed) if they are going bad or are bad.....check the boots too.....could be getting brittle
turbo shogun - aninverted shock will reduce unsprung weight.....kinda like adding lighter wheels.....helps handling and throttle response etc.
and damn those look absulotely amazing! i wish i was rich and had money for those bad boys!
lookin good
so you want a stock sized throttlebody? the n/t 4g63s came with a throttlebody that is a little bit bigger than the turbos which is a little bit bigger than 60 mm
the exact same machining work will be needed.
they are a bit higher compression. 8.7 or 8.8:1....can't quite remeber.
thats a whole compression point over stock 1g's which should help for spool up as well as power! be prepared to tune tho.......if you have knock now, you'll be getting crazy...
the 1g n'ts(what you have) have the biggest throttle body! its a little bit bigger than the turbo one....kinda crazy.....
have you considered nos? its bolt on, and gives you a nice gain when you need it and is safe WHEN DONE RIGHT!!
other options would be higher compression, lighter...
you wont NEED oil squirters to a certain extent, but they definately don't hurt. if you plan on making high hp #, and since you are planing on putting forged pistons in, i would recomend it. they squirt oil at the bottom of the pistons which helps cool the higher then normal temps of a turboed...
seems like everyone hates pacesetter???? mine has been on for almost 9 months, and i havent had a prbelm with it yet......i had no problem bolting it on either? i also ported it myself and exhaust wrapped it.
i think you should just give in and convert to turbo. you arent going to get any real...
you'll get a gain, but no wheres near as big as a turbo car would with those......and both would be a good idea......make sure you get the basics first though......what other mods do you have?
cleanliness is the key......... get a can or 2 of brake cleaner and some steel wool or dremmel to get rid of the rust....... and paint right after you finishgetting the rust off! i cleaned mine really good, shined them up real nice with a die grinder and scuffing pad, then ran out of time to...
no prob.......just and just make sure that you line up the letters.....not sure if it makes a difference, but i'm sure that mitsu put them there for a reason......
haha ya i found that out the hard way.....but now i got some nice stainless steel lines.....so its not that bad....just an excuse to get em.
once i had the lines, it was no hassle at all.....but if you dont want to get custom lines made, then stick with 1g to 1g and 2g to 2g
where abouts in B.C. are you from? i'm from victoria.
i think it would look dope, but think about all the other mods you could do with the money.
and check out www.bcdsm.org
its dope
i think hes talking about the bolts that hold the actual mounting bracket on, no the difference between the ones that hold the bracket and the ones that hold actaul caliper.
theres is a letter on the end of each screw. i think there will be a G and an L(put 95 calipers on a week ago so this is...
it will bolt right in.....just put on the new, bigger discs, then the calipers and screw them into the old lines, or new lines, which ever look to be in better condition.
as long as they are 93 or 94 you wont have a problem.
i have heard that they only did banjo fittings for early 95, but not...
trying to tune with a compression ratio of 10.5:1 will not be easy to get rid of knock! it also will not be able to run high amounts of boost...especially on pump gas!
definately go with the 8.6:1 compression if you plan on turboing!
do it!!!!!!!! make sure you research it before you do it though.....you need more than just a turbo and some piping!
i'm planning on doing it within a month myself!
well since it is a 91 laser, i'm guessing it has a 6 bolt(unless its a freak and had a different engine swapped in). this means your rods can handle ALOT OF HP! unless you plan on making over 400 hp, it isnt necisarry...but definately won't hurt.
go with at least 2g pistons though, and if you...
haha ya warped rotors are ghey!
finally got a chance to do some hard braking.......
all i have to say is HOLY SH#T!
such a difference. 100 km/h- 50 is sooooo sweet! not too mention smooth!
like i said before....if you looking for a nice brake upgrade for a fwd, this is it!
