Don't bring it to them assembled, tear it all down, and bring the rods, crank and block to the machine shop, say "I need these checked to see what and if any of it is in spec. They will know what you mean. I don't know prices, just say call me with what you find out. Let us know what he says.
Have you taken your block to the machine shop? That will really tell you what is able to be re-used. If your cylinders are out of spec, you will need to bore your block out usually .020 and intern need new pistons, depending if your block surface is straight, if their is enough material to...
vr4 scott, do you know what a spun bearing means? When the bearing spins, it locks onto the crankshaft and spins around in the main cap and block, when you spin a bearing it is not just put a new bearing in and send it, you need a decent amount of machine work, most of the time, you need to...
I've been in that boat, to be honest, you just need to do it man. Pick a place you enjoy, the weather, people, ect. There are plenty of jobs no matter where you go, I don't care what the economy says. If you want to work, people will hire you. I just recently made a big time move. A little...
Alot depends on what the machine shop says, but basing off 160k engine, I'm going to say you will need
Pistons, Rings, bearings, engine seal and gasket kit, oil pick up tube, oem oil pump front case, balance shaft eliminator kit, complete oem timing belt kit, oem head gasket, arp head studs...
Is it a stock turbo? If yes then, not worth the rebuild! You could hit 350-400hp with a new rings and bearings with a ball hone and a 16g with GOOD supporting mods, but the new thing is the holset, which spool a little bit slower than the 16g but make really good power. Any idea what turbo...
Of course its worth rebuilding! Just because it has alot of miles doesn't mean anything. The only thing is it might be more cost effective to get another block IF your block needs alot of machine work! Do you know what kind of rods and pistons you want or plan on getting/running? For...
Ask for the results per cylinder. If its any kind of decent shop, they should document it on the work order. How many miles on the engine? Burning oil is blue not white. Are you noticing any oil loss, (like having to add a quart every once in awhile)?
Tightening that bolt, should not make your car smoke at all, you did the right thing by tighening it, but it just goes into cast iron. you have a problem somewhere else.
Could you be more decriptive of what bolt you tightened or maybe a picture? I'm thinking you might have ruined the turbo seals. But I'm not exactly sure what bolt your talking about!
straighten out the fins and tubes and depending on how good of a alum tig welder your friend is, Either have him tig it up or bring it to a specialist. I would fix that in a heart beat and run that all day. REMEMBER TO CLEAN AND USE PROPER TUNGSTON(GREEN) w correct gas and pressure and it will...
Do not buy a 300zx tt! I have owned one. They are very nice looking cars and at the time they were ahead of the game with the twin turbo and the sport and touring suspension. But they are a headache with you have problems. Its no joke, you have to always pull the engine to do anything to...
You sure can do both, read the instructions that came with the wideband. It tells you how to hook up both, Im unsure of the wire colors, but i want to say like yellow to gauge and brown to your pin on ecu, I'm not sure what pin tho on a 2g but plenty of threads out their.
Thats what I figured. It seems everyone is always looking for them, but their not readily available. I have been in touch with Mitsubishi Cable America and other sources, the main problem is that they want you to buy min 500 of each connector. I am working with a company rt now to see if I...
Just wondering how many people would be interested in getting brand new connectors/wiring harnesses for the dsm's? If so which ones would be needed/wanted most? Gauging interest in making them readily available to the community! Just looking for idea's rt now!
Wouldn't it be smart to include both the 8mm and 6mm, so the user has a choice. Or does that take to much out of your pocket for 2 extra bolts? Not trying to be mean, just asking!
yes and you can check this, to make sure its the problem. Get car up to operating temp where you know the fans should kick on, then unplug the coolent temp sensor(bottom of radiator) connector and use a paper clip or a bobbypin( somthing metal ) and jump the connecter, not the sensor, if fan...
Make your own, like I did, Used a C-clamp and either a 02 sensor socket or i want to say 3/4 socket and cut slots in the sides. Works great. Wish I could show you a picture, but don't have tool with me right now.
Get specs on the cam position sensor, and check it out, also their is a crank sensor, that can cause your car to throw the cam code. Get the OHM specs and ohm the sensor out
The timing belt and balance shaft belt and prob the motormounts are doable in a day, but not sure about the bushings as well. I would hate to promise that it can all be done, but I can't guarantee it all for one day. Pm me or email me at [email protected] and we can discuss it further.
You have to aleast lap the valves, you can do it at home, all you need is some lapping compound and suction tool available at(autozone/pepboys/ect). Put some on the valve and lap them in, if you need to see it done you tube it. its reading the lap on the valves and seat thats the tricky part...
The Tcu, normally doesn't have problems, its not like the ecu, where caps leak, ect. You should check the codes on the tcu, sounds like its in limp mode, that will keep the car from shifting!
Wow! Thats just wrong!!! For those prices you should have forged internals, and arp everything, I don't care what kind of warrenty the guy is giving you. Tell your dad, for $4000, you could build your own, blow up and build again if need be.
As per Permatex, the company that makes it! The intended use is for metal gaskets, like the mls or metal exhaust gasket. It does nothing for a cosmetic or stock gasket. Just makes it copper color. Hope this helps! Get stock gasket and arp studs and you have nothing to worry about
You can have my job, I go to 24 NHRA national events every year. Travel from cali to florida to new york and everywhere in between. Typically I spend about 5 days out of the week at the racetrack for about 12 hours a day and when not their either driving to the next race track or to the shop...
You are screwed!!!! Seriously!!! I went their too, the schools great but the town sucks. Their is nothing but guys all over, every girl you meet has kids or is missing teeth. The only decent thing to do thier was go to the bar across the street. Ha Ha. Where are you living? On campus or...
Also not a big deal but, the copper spray is made for metal gaskets per permatex. The only gasket that will gain anything from the copper spray is the exhaust manifold gasket you put on. Its no big deal for it to be on the rest but doesn't do anything. Just a heads up! Other than that, great...
