There was a recall for the transfer case in which all the oil would leak out and potentially cause the wheels to lock up while driving. Its probably been done but you can call mitsubishi north america and give them your vin so make sure its been done. Not sure about what other recalls there...
What kind of turbo is it? New or used? If it came with oil lines and all that it sounds like it may be an ebay turbo. Maybe a restrictor will solve the smoking but if it's one of these ebay turbo kits then there's a strong chance it will fail.
^Still not a boost leak...Check ignition system as others have suggested (plugs, wires, cas, etc.) Use logger/scan tool to check for codes. Turn the boost down if you have no way to see if timing is being pulled. You could be running lean and knocking. If problem goes away at lower boost level...
I think someones exaggerating a little bit (or a lot). I find it very hard to believe you've replaced 14 motors and 13 transmissions. And if this is true I'd say you're definitely doing something wrong.
It comes with 2 springs in it. Yes the hx35 has an anti surge cover, I don't think it prevents compressor surge but just lessens the damage from surge by allowing the backed up air to go around the comp wheel rather than back through it.
I think you want the motor to consume more than you could put in with a spray bottle in order to really clean out the carbon deposits etc. You've got to be able to find a vacuum line somewhere.
Hmm... so you think some 272's would help out? I thought a lot of people were running the hx35 with stock cams. You think the turbo can hold up okay to this low boost compressor surge? It runs great at WOT.I had thought about the wastegate opening and closing over and over causing the half...
Ok, so I'm getting compressor surge under two different situations with my HX35 in .55 ar housing. First off I hear it when slightly accelerating (enough to build a few psi) and then letting off the gas slightly but not all the way. Like going from ~30% throttle down to ~10%. This happens to me...
I was waiting on someone to say this... All these people saying to let it sit for a day and the water will evaporate, how is that? Is the water gonna go out through an open intake valve into manifold, and backwards through the IC and out the air filter? Or is it supposed to go out through...
No problem. Not really sure which gate it is. The one they sent me wasn't even the same as the one in the ad. It came with a 1bar spring though which was higher than most of the ones I saw.
So my bolt/sleeve whatever is coming out of my bep housing. I'm pretty sure I could just pull it out. Didn't this happen to you joyfil2001? Were you able to have it welded shut on the car?
I'm glad you asked, cause I noticed something. What the hell's up with my bep housing? I thought it was just a bolt running through with a nut on the outside, it looks like the whole sleeve or something is coming out. Seems like I read about this in the holset thread somewhere. I guess I...
Yeah, it's on the car. Getting the wastegate bolted on was the hard part (probably b/c it's an ebay gate). No interference with o2 sensor. Fits well. I'm running FP mani as well.
Just buy a cheap 3'' downpipe, cut it and have a v-band flange welded on. I'm pretty sure this would be the best flowing exhaust setup you could create for a mitsu flanged hot side. I plan to do this soon for my hx35.
^And it's 3 inch! Not 2.5'' like everyone else.
I would have bought that one if it was out when I got my MAP 38mm recirc. housing. They've had those for a 44mm gate for years, I remember emailing them long ago asking them to make a 38mm version, I guess they finally did it. Assuming it fits...
The threads in the top of the bov must have stripped out. You'll probably have to tap it for a larger size and find a bolt or something to replace the stud.
I'd probably go with the GSX. It sounds like he took pretty good care of it and besides it's more fun to mod it yourself anyway. What's with the brand new paint job though, was it in a wreck? Also, no ac and torn seat kinda sucks. Just don't pay too much. I'd look at/drive em both though...
It's not blocking off 2 cylinders (it would be if you put it on a divided manifold) it's just using one half of the turbine housing until you build enough boost to open the actuator. I think it's a pretty good idea if you can get one made at a decent price and get it to fit. Although a ts...
Capitol City Imports down on S. Congress is probably the best junkyard in town. None of them seem to have many dsm's though. I'm sure you can find someone local on here though that has ditched their a/c or gone to slim fans that can hook you up.
Every bad wheel bearing I've seen has had play in all directions. Sounds like the inner tie rod. Let us know if you get it fixed, I have a vibration in the steering wheel as well and have always suspected inner tie rods. I've got no play at all though.Edit:
So I decided to go jack up my...
So my HX35 in Mitsu housing seems to surge quite a bit at part throttle in higher gears. Running external 38mm on o2 and stock 1g bov. Any ideas on why this is happening? I posted before and got no response. 8-blade compressor btw. ThanksThe 7 blade flows 60lb/min, 8 blade flows...
I have the 3sx arms and they are very nice. The maximal arms are exactly the same just black instead of gold. I don't think the Ingalls use a heim joint. The tuners nation are just way too expensive. And don't even consider the whiteline eccentrics they suck!! I bought these to get my rear...
I've had a lot of trouble getting my IIIc to hotsync either. Sometimes it would only work if you press the button on the cradle and not if you opened hotsync from the pc. One day I tried to pull a log of the Palm and it would never hotsync successfully. I don't think I ever got it working...
A rewired 190 should be enough to max out the evo3 according to this handy thread. I had almost the exact same setup previously; Evo3, rewired 190, PTE 680's, and a Keydiver chip from Jeff. Worked great!
I'd be a lot more concerned about the salvaged title than the oil leak. It was obviously wrecked pretty hard in the front and that's why there's "crinkles where the door and fenders meet." Could have some frame damage. Tell him you'll give him $1000.
I'm pretty sure there's a filler cap on the door sill of the hatch. At least that's where it is on a 1g. Haha I bet you're gonna feel dumb.Edit: Too slow...
There's a thread/blog floating around here somewhere of a 2g with 4'' side-exit and a small race muffler. I can't remember much else about the thread so I'm having trouble finding it. It looked pretty damn good as I recall.
I dunno, kinda looks too Honda-ish and I'm sure it would look stupid without the whole kit. DSMGraveyard has aftermarket 2gb Eclipse bumpers for $150 here. I guess they don't have the indention for the Mitsu emblem but are otherwise the same.
Do the vents seem to be blowing out as much air as they should? Sometimes receipts and crap get sucked up in the blower motor and restrict airflow. I've also seen positive and negative connections to the blower motor reversed on a few cars (not dsm's) which causes very little air to come out...
Maybe you should go over to the 240 forum then. You might fit in with your crappy 245 Sumitomo's your so proud of. Just ### your dsm is a rust bucket doesn't mean they all are. I don't think I even have a microscopic spot of rust on my 18 year old car. It has spent it's whole life in Texas...
Ouch! Read my edit in the post above. The bolt has no escape route with the flapper welded up. The bolt would have to come out through the turbine inlet. You obviously had the turbo off to take it to get it welded. Maybe it fell out? If it's still there it would most likely just sit there...
I don't think you meant to quote me but anyways, no need to take off the turbine housing, just unbolt the o2 housing. You must be running an external off the o2 or the wg hole would've been welded shut. You may be able to just remove the wg and stick a magnet down there and fish it out...
No, like Justin said there is no way the bolt came out through that hole. It is in your exhaust. What o2 housing are you using? If you have a dumped o2 it may be gone but otherwise it's in there somewhere.
I had mine come loose a little bit. Mine melted my slim fan without an exhaust leak though. I bought a turbo blanket so I can hopefully run a drivers side fan but I need to weld that hole shut as well because the nut sticks out too much.
Just saw this thread and was wondering what people are using for a 4'' inlet turbo? I've rigged all kinds of stuff up but nothing seemed to work very well.
Damn dude your gonna drive from NYC to Miami to get your car worked on? I'm sure you could find someone local. Or better yet save that gas money, buy some tools and do it yourself. It's not hard. I guess most people probably don't have garages in NYC though.
I think your confusing the abs box with the cruise control. Cruise sits up on top of the intake manifold. The abs box with all the metal brake lines running to it is over by the fuse box and bov like your describing. Most IC kits are designed to clear the abs.edit: Just dug up a pic of a...

Start with free mods (aircan, bcs restrictor) throw on a K&N if you don't have one. Boost controller, hard intercooler piping, open up the exhaust etc.Well before all make sure you've done all the maintenance and the car is running perfectly.
