Well I have my boost and oil pressure gauge hooked up and all ready......but the damn nylon hose keeps sliding out of the gauge? I have the ferrule, and the sealing nut but the hose keeps sliding out of the hole in the sealing nut. Don't ever recall having this problem when i hooked up an oil...
$400 is a small price to pay for an engine build. However it must be done to make it work.As for the head I'd say 1G, and for the power numbers it all depends on what power adders you ad on. I'd imagine you would leave the head stock.I have seen cars in the high 300's with the 95 piston...
Oh I defiantly agree, I'm building a motor that has the DKS3's and I love the sound of a lumpy idle. However if it's your daily driver a really lumpy idle is not a good idea.
If your not going any higher than 7500 then a good cam for you would be either the 264's, Crower 64413's, FP1's etc... Your idle will remain fine and you will have a solid low end & your car wont start to get sluggish around 6700 like they often do.
Your more likely to get to that number with a 1G head. As for the cams your gonna want something that works with your turbo. Any mid range cam will be fine for you, 64414's, FP2's, 272's all that fun stuff will work well. Any one of those will increase your power band up to about 7800-8000...
Either your getting a power loss somewhere, or more likely you need to replace the alternator. If you can get your car jumper and running let your battery charge for about 4-5 mins. then take off the jumper cables. at this point it should still be running. Now to see if it's your alternator...
My opinion your probably better off with the Crowers, unless your dead set on Forced Performance. I had the exact same cams in my last car and I loved them. I'm building a new motor and it has the 64415's. It's just your preference.Good luck,
Steve
They are a pretty close grind, if you are only going to 7k then I would of gotten the 64413's the fp2's and 64414's as well as the 272's puts your power band up to about 4k to a little below 8k.like i said, if you only going to 7k i would get fp1's, 64413's or 264's. that grind you have is...
Ok, I am building a motor I have a 6 bolt block that is bored .30" over, I know Weisco & Ross make a .30 over piston for the 4g63. I'm not looking for cheapos.... I need something that can take crazy abuse. I have Groden Aluminum rods to be paired with them but like I said I'm not to sure what...
Agreed! When I had my galant, I got an Ebay 24x12x3 intercooler and custom made my own pipes exhaust and intake. I know of only 2 intercooler kits for the galant and those are DSM Motorsports & Extreme Motorsports. I have seen one float around on ebay once before. but Both of those range in...
An SBR FMIC setup for a first gen dsm will not fit a galant. the mounting points for the ic are off as well as the piping. galants come with tiny front mounts and the cold pipes run through a small hole in the front, big enough to fit a 2.5" pipe. Since the battery on the galant is where the...
Hmmmm, I always thought they both shared the smae transmission. They share the same motor. Anyways I have previoulsy owned 2 neons and I know they have fairly strong transmissions, atleast stronger than a turbo DSM's tranny. Thats not just me sayin that though, I have heard this from other...
Yes, a bad turbo seal will burn your oil in a blue smoke, yes it will cause your oil pressure to become lower. All your assumptions are dead on. Rebuild the turbo or get a new one. I have been down that road, it sucks.
Well, your gonna have to post some pictures so that I and others could get a full idea of what your taliking about and to better aid you. As for one of your questions regaurding the throw out bearing, no it will not leak any sort of fluid if it goes out. That is up in the transmission and...
that is perfectly normal, what you are doing when your crush the bov is you are compressing the spring inside of it. causing it to be tighter and holding more pressure. now since the spring is stiffer it will now push back with more force when the air is tryin to bypass through it. causing...
Well my turbo picked up a bad habbit, it has started to smoke. i got under the car and there is no smoke under there, i still have one of the stock heat shields on so i cant spot exactly where its comin from. but from what i can see, its smokin from the hot side of the turbo. and A LOT. im...
Those blow off valve are the same excpet one is capabale of holding more pressure than the other. now they can both be hooked up to a hose and plumed back into your intake. this makes it so your car wont bog, die, backfire all that stuff....cause its quite rich when you realse that pressure...
It could be a lack of oil....not just in the turbo, motors sound bad when they have no oil. If its the throw out bearing the sound will be constant unless you press your clutch pedal in then that sound will go away. if your sayin your balance shaft being off center.....that is more of a...
that sounds like the sound of a bad throw out bearing, but unlike what you said (unless the bearing is way bad) if you push the clutch pedal in the sound stops.
if your car is still not starting check the ignitor. now when you say you lose power.......does your car barely run? drives but hits certain points and power cuts out? check your ecu for any apperent dammage. as well as check your capacitors.......they may of leaked.
If there is a hole in a brake line.......no matter what size, you will lose pressure quickly. This is because, like anything under pressure it has force pushing against it so if there is an intrusion in a line somwhere that fluid will want to find a way out so it all goes to that hole.
well it would be awesome if someone were to reply to this fast cause im in a hurry. anyways, I am removing the steering knuckle and replacing it. There are 2 balljoints 1 at the tie rod and on on the lower control arm. everything is off but i can't get the steering knuckle to slide off the stud...
Does anyone here know the the source of the ground or the ground wire leading from the power windows & or the seatbelts? None of those are working right now and all fuses are good so I'm gonna check the ground.
Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,
Steve
If yo are just gonna have straight thru 3" with a glasspack.....it will be loud. but it will sound good. glasspacks sound good if you have at least 3" exhaust piping otherwise it will sound all choked up.
OK, so I got my gauges in and all wired up...They work fine. I have them hooked up to the dimmer switch, & like I said they work great and they dim. Here is my problem, none of my dash lights work. I cut the green wire, I know that was a bad idea. But I took it apart twisted the green wire...
So today I just recevied my EBC pads, I open the box and to my surprise one of the little brackets on on of the pads broke off. My question is, Is the pad with the broken bracket trash or can it still be used? Thanks,
steve

its not tap in die. when you "tap" something you make inner threads for a bolt.
and a "die" is used to make or redo threads on a bolt or stud. you will need to tap the o2 bung...not die.
well so i got my new intercooler setup. and i still have that horrible fuel cut feeling around 4500rpms. some of you thought i had a bad boost leak, so i bought a new setup. and that fuel cut sorta thing is still there, so now every 5 days or so i have to reset the ECU. and this is pissing me...
that sucks about your oil pump. yeah i amy let you know if i need some help. for the most part i think i have everything under wraps though. i am waiting for piping to show up and i will be making my exhaust, intake, and possibly ic piping. if you need anything welded i can help ya. thats...
yeah thats cool, so is your motor fully built or what? or just some oem stuff? those injectors are almos too large for mikes setup and he's running an FP35 which is around 75 lbs./min. and the right amount of injectors he needs would be about 800cc. but yeah thats cool. im gettin my front...
I didn't necesarliy want to sell the galant. the previous owner was not forkin over the title so after a year of askin for it and no reply i had to just sell it back to him. and the sob sold it for $2200 when i told him if he wanted to sell it again lmk. he didnt so i bought a 90 awd talon...
Hey I havent heard from you in a while. This is Steve...I used to have the black 91 galant VR4. If you remeber. So when did you get that black Talon? I have never seen that one, i like what you have done. I got rid of the Galant and bought a 90 AWD talon. it just has some minor stuff on...
The car has a brand new EPROM ECU in it. It did it with the old ECU and this one as well but not as bad. I haver drove the car for a while it has been doing fine, but on my way back from work today, i felt two small fuel cuts as i was turning.
Well I had an earlier post about this. I did not know what it was at the time.
Heres the link to that thread - Wtf Is It???Anyways, mostly everyone who replied told me that it was a bad boost leak & another said it might be a bad MAF. Well the other day I was working on my car and while...
Ok, so I don't like flip up headlights. With that said, I want to remove the whole mechanical headlight...the motor and all. And to fill it's place I want to put a set of fog lights in behind the lens. So now it would look like I have a normal set of NON-flip up headlights. Now here is my...
