If you already have the head off it is pretty easy from that point. Drain the tranny, drop t-case, pull the axles, remove the clutch slave cylinder, unplug speed sensor, remove starter, unplug knock sensor, attach your hoist and pull all four motor mount bolts and lift.
Mike
Having the same porblem at the moment. Next step is to pull the tranny again, and check the clutch fork and pivot ball. I would try that if you have not already.
Mike
Yup, ours is a 5 speed manual. It looks like it will be a fun car when it is done.

We actually just picked this up for our 16yr old.Paid $300 for it, and as we are cleaning it up, it is a very clean car. Its an '84 Turbo Z w/2.2. Windsheild is actually going to cost as much as the whole car did.
Mike
My wife just went through the same thing. You need to go to the courthouse, get a copy of the clearance letter showing you paid, fax or mail it to the dmv, and wait for them to send you another clearance to take to you local office. Not sure about the FTA though.
Mike
You will need to use the old plug from your N/T head to plug the oil journal for the turbo feed line as well. Made the mistake once, and had a hell of a mess to clean up. You can also use the turbo cams for your N/T as well.
Mike
I can understand that working in a jail would give you a false reality to the time spent there. You go there every day, BUT go home at night. 8 Months is quite a while to sit and do nothing while your life is standing still. Granted, you get 5 days a month credit for good time, 10 if you are...
My thought is you are finding differences in the actual components. Where are the plugs located? Where do the other ends run to. From what I gather in your post, is you may need to find the 91+ components these run to. Or, as you said, re-pin to the pin size you need.
Mike
The plate he is refering to is for a early 2g with the cam sensor on the belt side of the engine. Being a '97, you should not need them as your sensor should be at the oposite end of the intake cam.
Mike
A friend at work does remodles and such and had some left over. I have enough to do 2 of my garage floors (920 sq ft) and paid $300 for all of it. Found the directions, and it is definately a job. 4 parts, and will require 8 to 12 hours betwwen to cure. Will post pics when done. It is basically...
No problem Fred. I ended up working all weekend instead. Maybe next time. I managed to finish Troys eclipse, and Brians Talon, so maybe they will be out there next time as well.
MikeWe are working on getting something together tis spring for anyone who is willing to show up. Will post about...
I am trying to remove the flywheel bolts on a "90 TSI AWD and am having a hard time getting them out. I have tried heat, to no avail. It almost looks like on the only bolt I got out that someone actually jb welded it. Any suggestions would be great.
Mike
And could a mod ### delete 2 of these...
I see a lot, and some stop by work and shoot the chit. We have some plans in the works right now and I will let you all know. But for sure stop by, Best time and day is sunday. We actually have 3 here at the house now.
Mike
Hell, stop by Park East on any given day and there are 2 to 4 of them parked out back. You guys need to shoot by and check out Julias car now that it is running. Basically, any day off I have lately seems to turn into a DSM workday, almost like we are starting a local car club :p.
Mike
The 90 has the pigtail from the CAS, and for the life of Me I cannot find where it goes. Basically, there should be a plug in the harness for the pigtail. Thanks anyway bro.
Mike
I have a Karking motor in ours right now, could not be more happy. Who did the timing belt and head gasket? They would be the ones to throw a fit to.
Mike
I had all intentions of making it to another, but at this point I would rather work, as I am not too sure I have personally met someone on any of the boards that has not screwed me over in some way shape or form. I am trying my damndest to get Julia out there this year driving, but I do not...
Yea, no chit. LOL. We are working on the reg. fees at the moment for Julia. You have to be her instructor though, Chris. :p
MikeAnd Fred, I will send you what I have for the relocation kit for shipping and you can gather the rest. :p
If they are just frozen like that you can
A: Find someone with a heated garage to put it in to "unfreeze"
B: hairdryer
C: warm the car up and see if the heater wont be enough.
Mike
Technically, it is a 7 bolt head on the 1g 7 bolt, but only because of the smaller head studs and smaller holes for them. But all 1g 2.0 heads are basically the same.
Mike
If you have no documentation of it done, that you should replace these parts on a "new" used car.
MikeAnd with all of this being done, boost leak test when finished is always a good idea.
As soon as I get the rest of the crap out of the garage, we are going to make it a weekend project. And yea, need to get the floor very clean first after about 20 engine swaps :(. Thanks for the input.
Mike
He undersatnds he need to use the Turbo pistons, hence the comment. Swap you old oil filter housing, cams, TB, and injectors and you are good to go. Cams, pistons, and injectors are the main differences. Minus oil squirters.

Stonblend Epoxy Mortar Floor System
Epoxy flooring. I just picked up roughly 2000sq ft of this for My garage, but not too sure of application process. It has 3 parts, epoxy, primer, and the sandstone. Any help or links would be great. If you click on the GSI tab, it shows the sandstone.
