I recently read that the only pulleys that should be used are ones with dampeners. Without the dampener, the crank bearings are said to wear out faster bc there is no way to cushion the force created by the rotation of the crankshaft. The only aftermarket crank pulley made is the buschur...
LG VX8000 here. Kinda big but it has everything you could ask for(except blue tooth). Check out that new Motorola v710 they released for Verizon about a month or so ago.
This is not the same head that bent valves. The pistons with the marks on them are different cylinders than where these valves are popped out a tiny bit. It makes sense that not all valves will be seated with the cams in. I just got a little bit worried when I saw the gaps, but I think...
OK. I have this jdm engine(shoot me) and I removed the head to change the head gasket because I was boiling coolant. So I removed the head and noticed that there were tiny marks on #1 and #3 pistons from where it looks like the t-belt broke before. I turned the head over to look at it and...
The intake valves in cylinder 2 and the exhaust valves in cylinder 3 are not flush. There are tiny gaps between them and the head. Is this a sign of bent valves or is there something wrong somewhere else?
The waterpump is also new. The temp gauge doesnt go all the way to the red. It rises as long as I accelerate and for a tiny bit after I let off. After that it will start to return to halfway or a little bit over. I have an underdrive pulley on there. Could it not be turning the pump fast...
No white smoke, no mixing of fluids, but my car is overheating under hard acceleration and when I stop quickly. The fan comes on when it should and I just replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. The coolant is boiling and just started gushing out of the oil filter area the last time I drove...
I may have missed the post, but the ignition timing could be advanced too much which is causing too many counts of knock. When the ecu cannot pull the timing enough to compensate then it will limit your boost. Check your CAS and adjust the ignition timing to see if that is the culprit.
Yeah the World of Outlaws definitely has the best drivers. Ive met them all also. I always get a pitpass at Williams Grove Speedway out in Mechanicsburg, PA(The track with the blue bridge over the backstretch).
Just wondering if there are any other DSMers that are also into sprint car racing. I live in CT but go out to PA every summer to go to races and I love it.
After I drive my car for a few minutes and park it, the thermostat housing is smoking along with the rest of the engine(the other smoke may be related to the newly painted downpipe). When I remove the cap on the housing there is no coolant in there and the coolant is boiling past the...
I have a stock O2 housing with some porting done and a 3" exhaust from there on back with a cat and 34mm flapper and my boost is just fine. It spikes to 13 in between the shift from 2nd-3rd(AT tranny) and then settles right back to 10.
You will have less boost if your ignition timing is advanced too far. The inability to retard the timing enough will result in the BCS limiting the boost. I just fixed mine today and it went up from 6-7psi to 10psi where it should be.
I should have mentioned before that Im using the Taboo vac setup, but I am getting a lean reading from my a/f when the car heats up. Any reason why this could be?
Well I got my car started after doing an engine swap and it was idling fine for about 5 minutes-oil pressure good, A/F starting to warm up and then the engine starts to stumble and the A/F starts to back down way lean. I have an auto tranny 1g with 14b, 450s, MT cams, and EPROM ecu. Could it...
I turned 21 yesterday(9/9) and I dont feel any different and havent done anything I dont do already...although letting the indians take my money at the casino(foxwoods/mohegan sun) is definitely my plan for next weekend. :thumb:
No ticket for running a red light!? You woke up this morning and your neck is sore, right? RIGHT? And your friend is also sore, isnt he??? Get her back with a lawyer!
Did you switch to your coil pack? When I did my swap I switched the intake manifold, thermostat and housing, CAS, coil pack, alternator, and ps pump. So the engine itself should be no different than a USDM engine. It should code no matter what because your harness is the same and there arent...
It is what it is. I say concentrate on yourself now. No point in fighting or getting even. It just drags out the sh*t even longer. Just one quick thing...why is it easier to score with a chick when she's not your gf?? Ive been going about this all wrong!
I think shops recommend 2-3 weeks. Ive even heard 30 days or your clearcoat could get kind of yellowish(more like vanilla), but I dont know if theres any truth to that.
Definitely jump on it. 55k to start is above average and if you turn that down there's others behind you dying for that amount. Since you just got your degree you're not yet in the position to dictate salary.
272/272 is where you get the crap idle. They suggest 264/272 to give it a better idle than the full out 272/272. The more aggressive cams will give you a little bit of a lumpy idle, but maybe there's another reason for it like the ISC.Hopefully somebody who has done this mod will come...
If all the teeth are there then just go get some 3M double-sided tape and get to work! I had one looking like that LAST May and still havent finished everything!
Pull the valve cover and check for loose rockers. Forget the leakdown. Theres no room for these interference engines so your stripped belt is a sure sign that your pistons and valves had a nice rendezvous.
Were the studs installed correctly? If so then getting accurate torque readings shouldnt be a problem. The only thing left to do is check the block and possibly have the deck shaved.
If the t-belt is still together and the car is running then the AC belt probably came off and hit the sending unit on the filter housing. I know mine has come off just from driving so a hit from the exploding belt could very well be the problem. If the car is not running then the AC belt...
Ive heard that Mitsu wont cover the repair because they claim it's the aftermarket clutches that are putting wear on the bearing, but a whole bunch of stock clutched cars get crankwalk as well, so is there something that can legally be done to force a recall??
I think the wiring harness is somewhat different. Talk to the guys who have done the 7-to-6-bolt swap and youll get all the info you need. The 1g (pre-5/92) were 6 bolt blocks which are not known for developing crankwalk like your 7-bolt did. It is speculated that Mitsubishi messed up in the...
