It's probably long gone unless someone still has the xdf and bin files to build from. It was experimental coding by whoever had created DS-Map at the time I believe and it did work well. Everyone has pretty much gone to EcmLink these days.
I've been pretty inactive on this forum for past 4yrs or so, so im def not sure. Theres another guy local in my area that is good with them but i forgot his name. I can get his info from my friend if you need
My friends 1g ecu had burned up the drivers for isc as opposed to the typical capacitors. That may actually be them from what i recall. I had just opened up his ecu out of curiousity before he sent it off to get socketed and i noticed it. Turns out the isc ended up ohming out bad as well...
My friend has 245s on his evo8 wheels on a 1g. I'm not sure of the height of the tires though. I know he had to put some small spacers in the front and they honestly stick out too far in the front in my opinion. Looks good in the rear though
What size intercooler is on there?
I'm assuming your ambient temps were somewhere between 80-100*
For example on my srt with a stock intercooler(~7"tall,2"thick) and a third pull at ambient temps around 70deg, aits would hit around 160deg on just a 3rd pull lol
Switched to a spearco direct...
Oh thats nice, ### that what was always what i saw as the major drawback to 1g ecu was once you outgrew the 1g ecus rpm limit.
Haha, looks like your car has come a long way man since we talked when you bought whatever part it was off of me. congrats:thumb:
Oh interesting, then thats definitely a benefit to have high rpm tables. Yes i agree, MMCd is a little out of date. Yeah i was just curious, thanks for clearing that up
bastarddsm are u tuning your car off an eprom?
If so how did you get the timing and fuel maps past 7K?
Sorry for going off topicAs for my input, while it would be pretty cool to have this functional sensor, unless its something you can fab up like bastarddsm, then it most likely won't be...
I don't ask this in a negative demeanor at all, just curious, I'm not quite up to date as I was a few years ago. I remember when Ceddymods was first introduced for the flashable 2g ECUs and i understand why 2g guys would use this as an option.
But what is the benefit of doing this over just...
Obviously a nice 3" turboback is your best solution. Maybe not your most cost effective as you stated.Ideally you should have your cutout as close to the turbo as you could. If you could get it placed right after the flex in the downpipe would be ideal. Placing it directly after your biggest...
I have the MTX-L on my srt4 and love it. I used to run the LC-1 in my last dsm. MTX-L is a easier wiring install than LC-1 and they have the digital wideband technology and seem to update faster than my lc-1. lc-1 is a good wideband don't get me wrong, i'd recommend it over an aem uego any day...
I would think with a built aluminum rod engine and a head from shep's car, i'd figure you'd be looking at something that flows more than 60lb/min.
I'd be expecting a setup more like the one in your avatar haha
But anyways, I'm sure 272s would suffice to max out the fp red. If not then a 280cam...
Sell the shifter and just put a stock shifter setup in there and you'll make profits. The only manual shifting you need to do at wot are with either a shift box or switch setup, not the shifter itself
Personally if you are going to be driving on the street alot, then I would install a tcu and...
I tune a car local to me with a e316g on e85 and pump93 on 25psi. The car has a maf translator and 3" gm maf but I have the translator just zeroed out and I tune it via eprom chip. The a/fs stay consistent and theres been no tune issues with the translator.
The previous owner had the car tuned...
Keep this in mind^^
The 1g ecu can be programmed to have 2step and nlts off of the speed sensor. Having the clutch switch unplugged would be irrelevant if that's how its coded in.
That's how i've always programmed it in
Id definitely say for anyone that can get it fully running on their car including cost of everything for under $500 then its a total win,.but anymore to me its a waste of time and money versus other options...
Got any pics you want to share with us of your setup?
I don't think that anyone is questioning the performance of evo8/9 turbos, the larger twin scroll housings have their advantages and the 9s larger compressor housing, but at the end of the day its basically a reverse rotation of the old big/evo3 16gs as far as measurements of the wheels goes...
You bought a one-off kit that someone put together for what you say is a good deal. And said in there you got the turbo for free.. Not everyone is going to have this luxury.
For the cost of doing it new from scratch and having to pay for a used evo9 turbo, i continue to say its not worth...
Yes i'm aware what the evo9 turbo can do and i'm still saying that..
Used evo9 turbos run around $400, then custom oil and water lines, half radiator possibly too etc, along with some other modifications like charge pipes, heater hose..
You're now talking a very expensive evo turbo setup...
In my opinion it wouldn't be worth all the modification and cost of doing it versus traditional dsm setup. You could spend the money on some other aspect of the car
Stock timing maps on 1gs are pretty aggressive. It's probably a major contributor to the knock your seeing.
Get a wideband asap to verify safe a/fs too
You can lower boost to 10psi and see if knock is reduced for starters
I'd expect a tad less mpg in a 2g being a little heavier..
But either way a decent running 5spd awd should get anywhere from 19-22 with mostly city driving and typically 25+ all highway on pump. This is driving relatively conservative as well.I recently tuned a friends 16g car on e85 and pump...
Yeah i made that first thread link along time ago haha
I've been out of the dsm game for awhile and obviously it appears that turbo gained absolutely no popularity.
Judging by the compressor specs being a few millimeters bigger on the inducer and almost 10mm larger on the exducer, as well in...
I wouldn't be so concerned with dyno numbers when they vary so much between different dynos such as mustang to dynojet for example, let alone differences from place to place that even use the same kind of dyno. They are most beneficial as a tuning tool.
That only flows 42lb/min while even evo8 turbos can flow up to 44lb/min. Honestly that turbo won't get the job done with 350whp on pump, mayb race gas or e85.
The good ole 50trim works very well on the srts for what your friend is looking for out of his car. It's one of the best, if not the...
The oversize pistons for 4g63 typically run .020 or .040.
If your cylinder walls need more than .020 removed, than you'll most likely need to go with the .040
This is actually an evo8 turbo in a stage3 manifold I have. It's the setup I plan to run next spring to get the car into the 11s hopefully, but will probably end up going with a 20g compressor when the time comesIs your friend looking to make 350whp on pump or meth or e85?
I honestly...
They'll need a reverse rotation tdo5hr such as evo8/9 if he was planning on using it on a s3 manifold or having a custom stock turbo manifold modified to fit the larger turbo. To the OP:
Big16g is a very fun street turbo that spools quick. Mid-low 12s are very possible on pump93 with a good...
For 2gs on a budget looking to tune and have full control over timing and fuel, having an eprom ecu socketed and burning chips will be your cheapest option if your ecu is already eprom. You could get a flashable later 2g ecu and go that route or ecmlink is also an option too.
All options will...
On my 16g setup years ago on pump93, i was able to squeeze 23-24psi and 19-20* of timing with no knock and consistent a/fs in the 10.8-11.0 range
I've also had 1000cc injectors and you can program them to run with no drivability issues just like stock.
I'd honestly recommend going with...
Since i've had my srt4, i'm on my 3rd fmic and can comment on the differences i've seen because i was able to log both ambient air temperature and the actual charge temps entering the throttle body.On the stock front mount, which is a nicely designed piece with very little pressure drop and...
The pedal assembly definitely isn't fun haha. Making a hole for shift cables and master wasn't bad at all with engine in car. I didn't swap starter harness or starters and the car was 91.
100% line pressure mods will give you very firm and quick shifts. There's some vids on the roadsurge box to give you an idea of how it works. That uses a box with an up/down that you'll use under wot conditions to shift the trans. Bluewire mod will use the stock shifter to shift. You can have it...
I always thought the thing with the 2g heads was it having better velocity and better valve angle because of the smaller ports and the 1g big ports were considered "lazy" so to say
I think the OP actually did whatever porting and epoxy work to accomodate the use of the cyclone intake since they...
I did the swap about over to m/t from auto about 4-5yrs ago..
Honestly, to me the only drawback to the auto tranny is the gas mileage being worse
It launches great when done right, is consistent, potentially less drivetrain breakage from preloading on launch and you'd probably run the 1/4...
Congrats on hitting solid 11s! You def have some more in the setup with more boost and good tune, especially if you decided to go e85
Curious why you picked up 25mph on the 2nd half of the track on the first pass(11.67) and picked up less than 18mph on the 3rd pass(11.68)? And ran the 1/8th 5mph...
I haven't really been on this forum much in the past 3years after selling my last DSM and picking up an SRT-4. I used to be somewhat active on here, as some of you may remember me.Anyways.. I picked up DSM #5 for myself last week to use as a daily beater/winter car. It's a 92 Laser turbo fwd...
Haha, yes its a very old turbo to dsmers.. Funny thing is they've had their second coming with subarus, evos and its very popular with srts in stage3 10cm manifolds as the "47lb" upgraded compressor, but with tdo5h turbine
Also too if you can still read the sticker on the back.. I believe the auto is 3.31 ratio and 5spd 3.55 mayb.
I've done the swap, but its been years and i don't have a dsm anymore so can't quite recall the exact numbers or diff code
