So how much of an effect does a larger turbine wheel make on backpressure within the same a/r turbine? Say going from a stage 5 wheel to a p-trim a .63 a/r t3 turbine, would that make as big of difference in backpressure as going to a bigger a/r?

well my dsmchip is also setup for my injectors so tuning isn't that hard. the airflow is 1100-1300hz depending on what gear I'm in the higher the gear the more airflow I see

well it didn't smoke all day today with my wastegate just hanging open me running 0 psi so I guess the fully points to the turbo seals?

I let the wastegate hang open ( so no boost) and now when I drive it no smoke, looks like I'll be getting my seals fixed

well the machine shop put the short block together. I will run a compression test and see if the # are good. to add the smoke isn't there if I shift low. (where I see no boost at all) Hopefully it's the turbo seals I'll check compression and shaft play.

update it doesn't smoke at all cold, and only started to smoke a little just on the shifts after a drive around fully warmed up

I wouldn't say that the housings are all to small. I mean a holset hx35/40 hybrid spools 20psi by 4500 and a HX40 spools 21psi by 4800-4900 with these housings. Now these turbo's won't be able to make there max power but enough of it for most people. With that said I would think the a/r on the...

I was wondering what could cause this problem with my trans. When let the car idle for a min or two and then push in the clutch and put it in gear it grinds but if I put in gear a few sec after I start it's fine. any ideas?

Just to take some info from this thread a 2.0L spools 20 psi from a HX-35 around 3900 and a 2.3L spools hx-35/40 hybrid 23 psi at 3900, a 2.4L spools a hx-40 at 4000. It looks like that there is hardly any difference in spool time of the hx-35/40 hybrid and a full 40 on a 2.3l/2.4L.

494whp on 25 psi 549whp on 20 psi these are boost numbers you can run on pump gas with good tuning I would say you could get some great whp on pump gas with these turbo's I'm sure both of these dyno's were on race gas do they have any pump gas numbers? Also let me see if I have this MWE groove...

The HX-40 must flow a lot of cfm even at lower boost because similar turbos (gt35r, fp 3065) take 29-30psi to get those numbers.

What a/r is the bullseye housing? What's the max hp this housing can support?
