What I do:Don't ditch the crash bumper completely. Use a torch and cut out the center portion of it, so that youre left with two stubs that come out of the rad support. They should have 2 bolt holes each on top of them when cut in this manner. Then just bolt the bumper cover on, you know...
Ok, I had this problem and I'll tell you what caused it for me.On the Alt, the main power lead connects over a stud and is secured by a nut. Underneath that, there is a plastic spacer/insulator. If this spacer is cracked/smashed/broken/gone, the alt power wire will ground out against the...
I was thinking more of a metallic and burnt look to the orange. I realize this is very hard to do. Also don't worry so much about the hood. I've been thinking of just doing it gloss black since my wheels are already black and not gunmetal, and carbon fiber is so expensive.Heres another...
Can someone take a nice picture of a 1gb talon like this...and make it that orange color, with a carbon fiber look hood, black roof, and black wheels. I love orange, but I hate being too bright or too flashy. Hopefully that combo will look nice.
Makes perfect sense. If you're not hitting the clutch when you lock the wheels, then yeah, its going to stall. Welcome to AWD.Also I don't think 90's even had the option for ABS, but I could be mistaken.BTW if you want to do slides in a snowy parking lot, all you have to do is press the...
I would definitely be in for a 1g. There are plenty of 2g diecasts, but no 1g's other than that factory promo. Also, what about one of those plastic model kits that you build yourself? That might be cheaper and I think that would be cool too.
Yes I know this has been covered eleventy billion times, but bear with me anyway.I have
ACT 2100
New slave cylinder
Braided clutch lineThe clutch is having trouble disengaging. If I bleed it, it works GREAT for a while, but within a couple of days it gets progressively worse and...
Yeah the Bearing thing makes more sense. Its pretty normal to see gold flakes in the oil. Silver flakes however=bad. I think a bearing is whats wrong with my 3-4 gearset.
I recently bought a 92 Tsi Fwd that was non-running and had been hit lightly. This is in addition to my 93 Tsi AWD.Now I'm a college student, and I don't really have a lot of use for one car, let alone two (or three since i also have a 90 ES, but that is getting sold for sure).I only...
Has anyone seen/used this one.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7970737025&rd=1looks similar, but with a better entry angle. Pretty cheap too. Also,YOU ARE A YELLOW BUS RIDING FOOL PIGLET FACEthat shit is hilarious.
Why wouldn't you reuse the same bearings. Unless something is drastically wrong with your engine, the bearings will not wear. There is never any physical contact with the bearings to wear them.Hell, i've even reused the rings on some motors before and ended up with 170psi. Not that you...
How customizable is the display? Like can you set how big the numbers appear, which values show and which don't and whether they're peak/hold or not. I have boost and egt gauges and while it is cool that this unit can read those values what i really want on the display is a big huge 12.5 or...
Yes, you can leave the front one in and put the stub on the rear one. Mostly this is what you do with the motor still in the car, since its a major pain to get the front shaft out unless the motor is out.
I have a really weird problem. The wipers will not go off in my 90 ESi. Thry will go faster and slower, but they wont go completely off. I have no clue why as i just got this car. When this happened it was with a really weak battery so might the low voltage/amperage have something to do with...
I'm just thinking aloud....I wonder if you could dial up the deceleration value on the AFC? I remember everyone says set it at 10% and forget about it. Im not even totally sure what it does, but theres a chance...
Before you turn the cam spin the crank 90* past the timing mark. This will ensure that no valve-piston contact will occur while youre spinning the cam.
The only point of blocking the EGR is to remove the vacuum lines and solenoids associated with it to clean up the engine bay and reduce potential leaks. Or if you just hate mother earth and want to make as much pollution as possible at all times :thumb: It really wont significantly effect...
I took the non tensioner idler from an N/T, you're saying thatll do it?I really dont want to rip it apart...will it cause extensive damage or will it just wear a little bit off of the edge?
I don't know what it is but im fairly sure it's only on 90s and that it does need a ground. I bolted it to the intake manifold when i worked on a 90 and the car didn't have any problems. Make sure you plug it in to the harness too.
I've got a T-belt that for some reason likes to ride on the very inside of the cam gears, enough that its causing a slight rubbing. I know they are supposed to ride in the center of their track but this one doesn't want to. I have no clue what it could be from, except that I mixed a bunch of...
You COULD drill out the studs...Or, just do it the easy way and run a couple of self tapping sheet metal screws through the pump top and into the tank. Works like a charm.
Okay, well unless the bearings spun so badly that they ate into the actual metal of the rods then you shouldnt need new rods. From what it looks like to me you can pick up another good crank and put new bearings in it and go with that.As for the gasket, I have reused one and the car is...
That spec is for 7 bolt blocks. They use torque to yeild bolts which stretch, and really shouldnt be reused. However, as a reference the spec for 6 bolt blocks is 47-51.
I dont understand how your pistons could be hitting the head? Unless you had the block decked so far that the pistons come up out of it...I've also never heard of a crank needing to be "machined" . It seems to me like you need to do some further investigating into what the problem really...
If it's been awhile the pedal linkage may be wearing out. Whats the freeplay like?Taboospeedshop.com has tons of info about dsm clutches, check them out.
Actually, it might not make a difference... See if you can turn the crank so that everything lines up with the dowel pins pointing up. It might take several rotations to get it in phase. If you can do that, its fine.I can't believe it would run fine if the timing was messed up.
"it'll probably be a 12 second car for only around $4000"NoI wouldn't do it.
A. It takes a hell of a lot of time and money to put a full turbo setup on.(what shadowfax said)
B. A regular 4G63 is not as strong as the 4G63T
C. Its FWD anyhow, so even if you did make the power...
I don't know...I bought a 16g off the trader and it turned out to be in perfect condition. I've also sold a 14b on the trader that was fine. There are definitely good deals out there. Just do some research. Chances are if they are members here with posts or are otherwise involved with the...
Autometer makes some 150psi units. I got mine as a 150, it rarely reads over 100 though, just when its cold and maybe at really high revs. Usual cruising pressure for me was RPM*2/100. My idle pressure was usually <10psi.
Mine did the same thing. I replaced the clips and tried 2 sided tape several times, but it kept coming off. I ended up just using 3 little pop rivets on the front of the panel. Wasnt the most graceful solution but its not really noticeable and i know it wont come off.
