So he trapped 130 on 40psi with the largest streetable holset? Color me not impressed. OP I would go with the HTA if the budget allows. Buschur has had tremendous results with this turbo.
Blogs are for myspace or facebook, I never read them on tuners. This is a car site with interaction and dialogue. Blog responses are typically "sweet build dude", "nice job", "that's bad ass" or something to that affect.
The Dr's car in 2001, I'd say he has came a long way in 8 years. Even had a teal valve cover.Had to throw a few extra pics from the archives circa 2001. This was from what's called the Cincy shootout (held in the Fall at a local track).
An ugly paint job:The Banana Boat:Is...
He just got the car out of the body shop last Wednesday meaning he hasn't had time to fully tune the car. The Dr wasn't about to make a glory pass at the shootout and blow $hit up just so he could post an ET.
I'll answer for him since he's on his way to Norwalk & the shootout. He literally finished the paint/bodywork this week, Wednesday I believe. Talk about JIT.
Found a video of the Dr. in action from a while ago<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4uY0ts4WZQI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed...
Does the car idle poorly only when cold or all the time? I have to give my car gas (slight throttle tip-in) for the first 30 seconds or so and then it idles progressively better until fully warmed up. Once warm, it idles as good as stock.
I disagree, he said he checked everything else. If the axle nut, tie rod, ball joint, and lug nuts are all tight, it's definitely the wheel bearing. I had the same problem (wheel would move back and forth when jacked up) and fixed it when I replaced the wheel bearing.
I wouldn't bother going somewhere that you don't feel comfortable, I'm sure they are paying out the ass in car payments and insurance anyways. Modding a car the bank owns, that makes sense lol. I love the laid back atmosphere at superfly. Hell, you can usually catch me in the bar at spaghetti...
What's wrong with 95 ft/lbs? That's pretty standard with ARP's and assembly lube, anywhere from 86-100 ft/lbs. To the OP, yes that no-name MLS gasket you bought appears to be your problem. Throw it away and get a Mitsu MLS or Fel-Pro MLS gasket directly.
I would say you're limited by the type of gas you're using, even with the meth. I bet if you switched to E85 or C16, you could get your timing numbers in the upper teens.
I would have to see some sort of a datalog w/MAP sensor. It's too hard to judge looking at the tach and boost gauge to get a conclusive number. The log never lies.
To be honest, I would wait until you can get the factory flywheel bolts. I wouldn't chance something as important as that. You could overnight ARP flywheel bolts from Summit Racing. I think they're for Toyota's but they work on our cars. Best case scenario would be to wait for the factory...
Courtesy of the Internet Movie Database, The Fast and the Furious release date was June 22, 2001. Damn, it's been nearly 8 years! And I agree, sounds like a good excuse to drive our DSM's.Later,
Joe
PS- I can bring spare parts I have for sale as well.
Talk to Ron Shearer of Shearer Fabrications, one of the best fabricators period. He's on the west side of Cleveland near St. Ignatius HS. ::ShearerFabrications.com - Home:: is his website.
Stroker engines are duration hungry due to the longer stroke and added displacement. Like my V8 friend says, you can't use a cam designed for 350 engine on a 383 stroker and expect the same results. I am using Kelford 272's but they have 226 degrees of duration at 1.0mm (.050 in) lift...
The block is only threaded so you can bolt it to an engine stand. The block thread is 10mm and the bolt used for the transmission is 8mm so it's pass-through.
I would go with the GSC S1's if you're going to stay with a 16G turbo. Greg even recommends this on his website. "The S1 cams are designed for those running a small 16G or large 16G turbo." Whereas the S2's are for larger turbos: "The S2 cams are designed for those running larger turbo's 61mm...

If you would have checked out the part instead of assuming you would read that "This ignition box fits most 4, 6, or 8-cylinder vehicles with a distributor, and a 12-18V electrical system." Summit SUM-850602 - Summit Racing Street & Strip Multi-Spark Digital CD Ignitions - summitracing.com
