Slippie- Have you actually talked to Raxles? I called them today and spoke to Marty. He said that in order for us(Fwd) to have stronger axles we need to have a stronger outer joint. The only way possible, he said, is by upgrading hubs. He went on further saying that since DSS has already done...
Here are some of my runs from a few weeks ago. 11.3 seems to be the best i can do with my setup. I think i have given in and will try the spray to get me a 10 second pass.Excuse the wife's camera skills, they are not the best.YouTube - 420a eclipse 11.3
I am down for a set. I am shocked at how long my drive shafts have lasted. I do not know when they will break and i would like to not have to spend 1500 on a DSS stage 5 set.
All i can say is BKR6e's are too hot to even run high boost, much less high boost plus nitrous. They never seemed to want to take the time to help me out very much. Simply put is if i need help i do not even bother to call them. I do not trust much of what they say.Mods: I do not want to...
When you guys say using 1/2" studs are you saying using 8740 chromoly studs? If so i do not see the point in getting a block re-tapped if stock size l19 studs have the same, if not more clamping force than 1/2" 8740 studs. I mean wouldn't you still have to get custom made 1/2 studs? And as...
When i contacted ARP about getting some L19 studs made, I inquired about re-heat treating the regualer 8740 studs. The guy told me that they could treat the studs to make them have more tensile strength, but then they would become more brittle. As i said on one of my PM's, i think if ARP could...
I run mickey thompson slicks. Size is 26x10x15. I run between 7.5 and 8.5 psi. Consistent 1.7 60 foot times. Easy to bog if you mess up, but hooks great on a stock suspension.
I wish i knew how you are not knocking like a mother without pulling timing. On my car with 15 psi and 93octane, i was getting metal specks on my plugs as well as hearing knock through "det-cans". That was with a 11.5 afr as well. I had to go down to 12psi before knock was gone. That is why I...
Just looked at your profile. Are you non intercooled? If so i am not sure that I would mess with 8 psi without an intercooler. I just cant tell from the pic but it looks like your piping goes straight to the throttle body.
I am assuming its a manual boost controller. If so it should have an in and a out. Hook the IN side of the boost controller to the compressor vac line. Hook the out to the wastedgate. There should be no tees needed that are not already there(such as fuel pressure regulator signal). Basically...
Had the best damn weekend of racing ever. Saturday night we had midnight madness and Sunday we had test n tune at another track.Got to the track Saturday night and ran three 11.6 passes at 120 or so. Decided lets try to drop the tire pressure from 9 to 8psi. Well i bogged slightly on the...
No one can tell you if your car is running correctly or safetly. Just to many variables. However you could make a hard run(about 15 seconds or so) under boost. Stop and pull your plugs. If they are specks on the white part of the plug you are lean. If its brown or off white you should be...
Congrats man. I am glad it finally warmed up enough up there so you can stop hating me for the warm weather down here.Anyways i better get my crap together because before long you will be beating my ass. Seams like you pick up a half a second or more everytime you hit the track!
Arent you getting a T-67? IF so i would look into a set of bigger slicks. I can break 26x10 loose with my 20g at a little unde 400whp. So if you going to pushing that big of a turbo i dont think 8.5/23 slicks are going to be able to really do your car justice.
One difference in my setup and most others is i run tubes in my tires. At 9psi i have very little wrinkle. At 8 psi its wrinkly but nothing like i have seen some other cars run at the track. To me the worse part of low air pressure is at the end of the run when i let off the gas. My car floats a...
Well i have 26x10 mickey thompson slicks and put between 8 and 9.25psi depending on the track and what not . They have over 100 passes on them and show no sidewall wear. I would not worry about wearing them out. Just dont do u turn at 40 mph and you should be fine.
Saves weight. According to the guy who built the cage it not any stronger. Chromoly is stronger than mild steel, but since the tubing is smaller it comes out to be about the same strength and its also why it saves weight.

Well I went to the track lastnight. The good news is that it passed tech. It was at a different track than i normally run at. Tech was pretty tough there too. They checked every aspect of my car unlike the track that i normally run at. Put a damn caliper to the tubing for crying out loud...
Wow so many questions to answer.First i meant 1.75 od tubing. That is the requirement if you are doing a 6 point bar as per the NHRA rulebook. The crossbar is smaller than the rest of the tubing. That may be what you are thinking of.Second believe it or not the, hoop is as wide as...
Well to be honest i thought that the guy who built this thing would have done everything to the rulebook. I mean he owns a 7 sec mustang and is probably the most well know shop anywhere around here. I know nothing about building a cage so as to why he built it the way he did, I dont know.I...
Ok now i need help. I just went outside with a friend and a tape measure. The harness mounts 4.5 inches below the holes in the seat. However it mounts 3.5 inches below my shouldlers. According the NHRA rulebook it must be mounted no more than 4 inches below the shoulder line.I am concerned...
I am from Hammond. My friend and i are finishing his up soon as well.Currently i am the fastest 420a around here and my friends will be right there with mine.
Last time i went to the track one of the officials told me that i would not be allowed to run anymore until i put a roll bar in. I really did not want to spend the money yet but i had no choice. I got a local shop, Madman Racing and Co., to build me one. It came out better than I expected...
The reason i ask what kind of turbo you have is because i had looked at your profile and saw that you had a t4 turbo. I dont know if you will be able to get that big of a turbo to hold low boost steady with an internal wastegate.
I am not saying that you have one on there wrong, because i dont think anyone is as dumb as me, but it sounds exactly like what happened to me when i put my passenger side mount on upside down. The blocks wont make a difference at all. Just do yourself a favor and make sure that the passenger...
Yeah you can do the opposite. All you need is a compression spring and put it on the shaft of the actuator. THere is a good write up somewhere on this forum on exactly how to do this. Just do a quick search and it should come up.What turbo do you have exactly? IF its a HRC turbo contact me...
The portfueler can and does make power. Even though i have made a decent amount of power with mine i say that megasquirt is better. Since the portfueler has no input besides boost and rpm it doesnt self correct at all. So when the temp changes or i change fuel or for reasons I have yet to figure...
It is definetly overkill. However it wont have any negative effects. The only problem i can see is the amount of money you are going to spend on fittings, hose ends, filter, and figuring out how you are going to get that walbro to hook up to 8an hose may be more trouble than its worth.
If you just put your tranny back in, it could be your alignment. Anytime you take anything off of your suspension/steering an alignment is a pretty good idea.
You can in fact mount the passenger side one incorrectly. I know because i did. Not so much backwards as upside down. It took one huge as pry bar to make it work though. Once it was all in, i was like what the f***. My motor was cocked and leaning. It was obvious as hell somthing was wrong, but...
I too am a bit skeptical...however if what he says is true i still dont think he needs to upgrade shafts. I launch with 26 x 10 slicks with my original cv shafts(170k miles) and have yet to break them. I also had my car lowered at one point, while still making the same power, and never had any...
Its very easy to change the valve cover.1. Remove sparkplug wires from plugs
2. Remove coil pack(10 mm socket)
3. Disconnect pcv valve hose from intake manifold
4. Disconnect breather hose that goes to intake
5. Pull of wire harness of off the bolts that run along the timing cover
6...
I was spraying a 75 shot before i put the turbo on(stock motor). I havent gotten the balls to mess with it under boost ...yet. In a month we have Import face off here so i think i am gonna have to spray if i want a chance in hell against some of these boys around here. Its still jetted for a 75...
I have the zex direct kit on my car. If you look at the tuning suggestions you will see that zex also recommends that you pull 1 or 2 degrees of timing for every 50 hp increase you do. They also say that they recommend race gas for anything over a 100 shot. I guess there is a point at which you...
I totally agree with forgeting about the SAFC. However, have you decided how you are going to control your timing? I know you said you would rather richen the fuel instead of pulling timing. However I dont think you could make it rich enough with that much ignition advance, high compression, and...
I am content now with my current settings. I launch at 5000 with 5 degrees of timing pulled. For some god for saken reason the last time i was at the track the timer wouldnt give us a 60 foot time so i dont know what they were. They felt and looked pretty damn good though.
Your are definetly...
I torqued mine to 70 ft/lbs with red loctite. It doesnt matter if you are torqing down a flexplate or a flywheel the torque stays the same because the bolts are the same diameter and grade/class. Neons.org has a great write up about torque specs for about every bolt on our engines...
Here are some more of me running at the track. Notice how i actually come back to beat the trans am in the first race, even though he smokes me at the line. I am damn proud of that run(11.7@120).Enjoy

YAY!! It works.. I just went try it out and my car hold 14psi on just the wastegate now compared to 8 before. I was hoping that it would be more like 16psi but i think it will work fine now to hold 27 with the boost controller. If anyone cares, the springs I used were Holly part number 2089...
Well awwdynamite put around 440 to the wheels using the portfueler and a garrett t3/t4 with a 60trim compressor and a .63 ar turnine. I think that would be a pretty good choice. Look up his profile to see his dyno chart. It makes the power but isnt the fastest in the world to spool up. My choice...
This past weekend i went to the dyno to finally tune my car to 27psi. Very quickly we realized i had a problem. The boost would fluctuate between 19 and 25psi. We played with the boost controller, but it didnt help. After talking to the guys there we realized that the wastegate actuator was just...
Went look through all of my dodge receipts. ITs part number 4796665. Cost me 28.75 about a year ago. Honeslty though, how bad is the squeking? I mean, ifs its not too bad there is no way in hell i would be pulling the tranny out again. You know that the clutch and TOB are good now. Well what...
I run a 26x10x15 slick on a 15x8 rim. Thats how hahns sent them to me so thats what they were running as well. You could contact Mickey thompson so that my advice doesnt get you hurt, but i would say a 7 inch rim is fine. Just out of curiosity, is your car lowered? I didnt see it in your...
I know 96 ford rangers have 14x7 wheels that fit our cars. How do i know you might ask? I put my ranger wheels on my eclipse before i had slicks and they fit fine. Looked ugly but worked.
If you are looking for something new though, it shouldnt be hard to find if can live with a 7 inch wheel...
