  1. Mitsubishi Diesel Engine

I think a problem with the massivly domed pistons that it would take to do this would cause some nasty issues with valve clearance with stock cams. Not to mention aftermarket cams as mentioned earlier in the post. Also taking about cams, I don't know for sure, but i would put money down that...
  2. Intake Pipe Fabricated. PICS

Hey Kevin, I have a question for you about that pinto with the 2.3 in it. One of my projects right now is putting a t3/t4 in a 88 turbo t-bird. What did you need to do to get that running right? Are you running the stock computer or something completely diffrent. This is a bit of a budget...
  3. Valve Seats

That sounds about right for a 16 valve head. I paid 160 a while back for a 8 valve head to be done.
  4. turn boost off?

Like they said before the car should run fine on 89 as far as boost is kept near stock. If you are wanting to boost the octane rating the stuff you want to put in your gas is called "toluene".http://www.elektro.com/~audi/audi/toluene.htmlPat
  5. The car make sound but go nowere pleasee help me guys !!!!

Sounds like you might have just blown off an intercooler pipe or something like that. What you thought was the BOV may have actualy just been a pipe comming loose and loosing all the built up boost. Like previously mentioned, check all clamps and connections, run a boost leak test, and see what...
  6. quick 14b question

You have me a little curious about this project now, are you planning to just fab up your own turbo headers or is there a company that makes them? Also, whats your plan for charge cooling? Are you looking to run pipes up to the front of the car and mount a normal air/air intercooler or just just...
  7. quick 14b question

Sorry to burst your bubble about this but there is one v6 that your just not going to top... Yeah, the SHO engine might rev a little quicker, but I dont think its going to do shit against this guy..:thumb:I will agree with you on the entire part of "oh, i spun a bearing.. That...
  8. quick 14b question

Im not going to say anything about high compression and boost. If your running race gas with the right octane rating you should be alright, especialy if you have forged internals that can take it. Dont take offence to this, but i was just worried you where the steriotypical guy saying that you...
  9. Car Overheated / Overheating / Overheats [MERGED]

My vote would be to check your pressure cap on the cooling system. If its broken it wont hold any pressure and it will all just bleed off in to the overflow tank. I dont think a flow restrictor is going to be what you want.Pat
  10. quick 14b question

For most of your questions in your post we probably cant answer, there is not a good way to tell at what RPM those turbos will be good to on that motor without just trying it.. There are to many variables. I had a couple questions for you about what your planning to do. Is this SHO motor been...
  11. quick 14b question

I think its a cool idea. Im sure you will be able to cram it all in there. People have fit GenII SBC in those before.http://www.fierolt1.com/Be sure to post some picture!Pat
  12. not stock turbo on my a/t?

You should be able to put that turbo on there without doing any fuel system upgrades as long as you keep the stock boost control solenoid hooked up. As long as you dont run more boost pressure than stock you wont increase actual flow rate. Yes, those larger turbos are capable of higher flow...
  13. Holly crap...Wasnt planning on this happening

I bet ya 20 bucks the gauge broke... They are designed to read the highest "peak" pressure untill they are "reset" to zero. If it said 180 and then dropped to zero without being reset the gauge just broke.A quick free test. Put the plugs back in and try starting it. If it starts you know...
  14. Pulling my teeth out of the steering wheel...

Glad you figured it out. I wish I had seen this post sooner, my camaro does this about once a month when it cooks its plug wires on the headers. I have fixed two customers DSM's recently that have done this also. What happens is the plug wire will get damaged a little and have a cut in the...
  15. Mitsubishi Diesel Engine

Smartass... You know what I was saying. :thumb:How about "Fuel Milage"
  16. Mitsubishi Diesel Engine

http://www.bandagbullet.com/I honestly think its a great idea, I wouldnt expect it to be very fast, but still a cool idea. It would probably be similar to driving a souped up VW Turbo diesel jetta.Even if it dosent go real fast, its unique and will get better gas milage than probably any...
  17. installed HIGH compression pistons OMG

Thruout this entire thread there is a quote that that a friend of mine from an LT1 board like to use to describe to people what will happen if they run more than 8PSI on a stock 10.5:1CR LT1."A new motor is only a few knocks away"If I where a MOD this thread when have been closed a while...
  18. Need advice on built motor gone bad

Couple things, blowby should not cause your oil filter to come off.. That sounds more like an issue of it just not being tight enough on the car.I would definatly do a leak down test. Those numbers sound fine for the motor. You said you had a crap turbo on it right now? Is it possible your...
  19. Cylinder Walls

No! Do not assemble it with those gouges.. The rings will never seal and it will burn oil.At a minimum it needs a sligh overbore and rehone, with pistons to match.Pat
  20. Wideband O2, why a heating element?

I may be completely wrong on this but I have heard that the turbo DSM's have pyromiters built into the O2 sensors, not for use in compensating for temperature diffrence though. I was just wondering if this was true or not so that I dont give any false info in the future. I kind of dont think...
  21. Dry Ice Chamber

Diggin up an old thread here..I had an idea for a way to cool the water in a air/water intercooler setup. This would be for a mostly track car. Your car already has a pretty powerfull phase change cooling system built into it already.. The air conditioner... You would have to have a little...
  22. 4G63/G54/6G72 Adapter Plates

Hm.. How interesting.. I wonder if I could use one of these to take one of my old 350 LT1 small blocks, turn it sideways, and fit that in a DSM?...
  23. How do I avoid PISTON SLAP - 2?N1

.0065 means that the piston bore will be .0065 inches larger than the diamiter of the piston. Weather can play a part in piston temperatures. If the cooling system on the car is not powerfull enough to keep the engine cool it can overheat and seize up pistons.Pat
  24. Flywheel blew up

Yes! Pictures of the carnage please!Sorry to hear about what happend to your car, just glad knowone got hurt.
  25. Racing a vette then boom blown headgasket!!!

Yeah... That Z06 either didnt notice you where tryin to race him or didnt feel like emberasing you...
  26. Cant connect battery

If your saying your blowing your alt fuse check and make sure that the wires going to the alt are not grounding out on anything, you may want to pull the wires off the alt and try hooking up the battery then, after that reconect the alt wires and make sure they are correct.Pat
  27. Lost of power Lots of Oil and HUGE White SMoke Out The Exhaust...

You said it would randomly lose all compression in certain cylinders? The turbo does not have anything to do with a cylinder losing compression so that shouldnt be an issue. Sticking valves could be a posibility.. It would be kinda rare for more than one valve to stick though open though and...
  28. Lost of power Lots of Oil and HUGE White SMoke Out The Exhaust...

Where did you get the rebuilt motor from? You said there is 20 miles on it? If it was a rebuilt motor there is no possible way that is has been broken in correctly yet... You should not even be boosting that motor untill you get it broken in, bearings, rings.. everything needs to wear down to...
  29. Fluttering noise... its soooooo annoying...... LOTS OF DETAILED PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

92 Talon TSI AWD, after reading this thread I went out to check to see if the one on daves are was setup correctly and im not sure it it is or not. The thing im not sure about is the lines going to the stock wastegate solenoid.Sorry for asking probably newbi like questions, my friend...
  30. I.O.D. Connector.

Ok, guys.. Cars a 92 TSI AWD. I have been beating my self up all morning trying to get this electrical issue figured out. The power door locks and the interior lights dont work. I got out a wiring diagram, unfortunatly it is not complete, it only showed the interior lighting. I have traced the...
  31. AUTO vs. MANUAL

Ill admit, I dont actualy own a DSM. Im on this site for a friend who has a Talon TSI, im kinda his car guy and do work for him. Im a domestic guy myself, 93 LT1 overbored camaro. Just so you dont start flamming me for it, im not trying to 'ricer bash' or anything, im very unbiased about cars, i...
