I appreciate the response. I've searched all over google and a bunch of online stores, but I refuse to believe that a 4.5" 90 degree elbow with 4" legs is over a hundred dollars. I found one at Summit Racing for $60 and I still think THAT'S too much for such a small piece of pipe. Thanks...
I'm relocating my air filter to the wheel well area. My mas to filter unit is 4.5", and the filter is also 4.5". Extreme PSI sells a 4.5" coupler, but only a 4" 90 degree pipe. I've been trying to call all the diesel truck areas around here trying to find either exhaust or aluminum 4.5" pipe...
I installed PTE 680cc a few months ago and retuned it doing 3rd gear pulls using the wideband. Had most of the afrs at 11:1, so I thought I was doing alright. Went the track the next day using these settings, I was running 13:1!!! :ohdamn: So I richen everything WAAAY up so I'm around...
bought them new from extreme psi, here is the description: Precision 680cc Ball-Style Injectors : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99 Turbo #16331I went for a drive, a/f is always around 14.2-14.8 around the city. Jumped on the highway, I was INCREEEEDIBLY rich with similar corrections. Had to keep...
Okay quick question...I've read a few people have gone through this situation, but now that it happened to me I feel like I'm the only one...Just installed PTE 680cc injectors. I have a re-wired 190 pump, stock fuel pressure regulator, pocketlogger, and wideband. Before I started the...
No i do not know if it will work. Routing your boost controller lines does NOT need to be complex or tee-d off. Connect one line to the wastegate actuator, and the other to the compressor housing (that's where the boost PRESSURE originates, find me a better source than that for the controller...
I agree with above, just go ahead and return the 190 pump for a 255...I would suggest getting an AFPR, but hey, Glenn knows his fuel, if he says it can be done it's because he's done it himself. As for the injectors, also trade them out for something larger. You're thinking that you're...
No idea where you read that, but no. Think of the ecu...it's world is a very very small one and simple one. All it knows of is a set of 450cc, if you throw in 550cc injectors, it will just think of them as 450cc, giving you a bunch more fuel, making you constantly run rich. Do no put those...
well if it's any consellation, I have gates racing radiator hoses. I was very very impressed with how they are built (minus the 'gates racing' name and logo being upside down :) They only make a few products (the radiator hoses came with a brochure of their products), but I'd rather use a...
just posted up the latest event from wmdsm.com forums: Track 131 on May 15th for a midnight madness (test and tune) from 5pm-1am, check it out.Ben :talon:
WMDSM.com folk have been getting around to gather dsmers to get to track 131 on May 15th for midnight madness. Test and tune is 5pm-11pm, and midnight madness is from 9pm-1am.
It has not yet been decided where (if) people are meeting to cruise down there together. I personally would love to...
Don't worry about the clicking when you push in the clutch pedal, they (some of them) do that. I remember when I did my first clutch job I had a tranny shop do it, I asked them to check it out and fix the click. They said it just happens on a lot of cars.
For the cluch losing pressure, what...
Are you able to manually CLOSE the throttle, bringing the idle back down? If that's the case, another factor could be the cruise control. I had that problem, and my afc said that the throttle was actually around 4-6%. Switched out to a non-cruise system and that fixed it. If you want the...
You very much remind me of me back starting out, although you are one step above me by not asking how to make the 'whoosh' sound when shifting :thumb:I noticed that this is your very first post, so you've read import tuner (the cliche mag), bought a car, signed up, and wanted people to...
Flared ends are very nice to have and do help, but what you really need 3-4 ply silicone couplers with t-clamps. You should NEVER have to jb weld pipes because they blow out of their couplers. Extreme PSI has everything you need for keeping pipes from blowing off in the 'do it yourself'...
I would recommend NOT getting a clutch used, you just never know how somebody rode it. In regards to that, it's the driver that ruins parts and wears them down, not the pressure plates brand or something. For pieces besides the clutch components, go OEM. Those are going to be the strongest...
There is also a a little screen filter at the pump in the tank, check that and make sure that that is clear of any obstruction. Best bet would to just buy a new one. Make sure the the wire didn't get cut somewhere on the path from the pump to the engine bay. The fuel filter itself could also...
thank you everybody for your responses. I HAVE already tried loosening the adjustment bolt on the throttle, so I'll drive it and see if that made any difference. In regards to cleaning the radiator, it's a brand new piece so I wouldn't believe that it would need to be cleaned yet. I'll see...
Just ran into the garage and hooked up the data logger. The ecu is throwing me P0505, which is IAC valve system fault. I just installed a new one last fall, so it's been less than 6 months. Can they die that fast?? I think I have an extra floating around...I'll try it tomorrow when the...
NEW SITUATION. Okay well now it's night time and a lot cooler than this afternoon. Went for an hour and a half drive. Finally after maybe an hour at a stop light the same situation started happening. The rpm will be higher at each stop, and my AFC will say that the throttle is around 2-4%...
yeah for some reason I was reading what you were saying but thinking of taking the cap off WHILE the car is running. So you're talking about just like when doing a regular drain, flush, and refill of the radiator. Okay I'll give it a shot. Thanks.Ben :talon:
seriously? Take OFF the radiator cap and THEN start the car? Won't coolant just blow out of there then? Certainly could be that there isn't enough in there, that just seems an odd way to measure the amount of coolant in the system.Ben :talon:
A week ago I installed all my winter supplied I had collected, of which included a Mishimoto radiator and a Megan catch-can. Installed everything and everything was good, but a fan blade was hitting my compressor outlet pipe, so I decided to get slime-lines. Ordered two Mishimoto 12" slime...
"The engine was checked out by a DSM only tech, well known for his work and honesty, the engine has 200 compression, no leaks, no smoke, no cel's, nothing for now. So the engine is in perfect condition for its miles @ 117k"...I didn't know that there are schools for DSM ONLY...
Think you might be confused...a 6 or 7 bolt refers to the block, specifically how many bolts hold the flywheel on. If you have a 2g block and 1g head, then you have a 7 bolt, NOT a 6 bolt. I also hope that you have a 1g intake manifold along with that 1g head.
What have you done to the car...
wow there were like 3 new posts during my write up. So the AWD is a plus, yes. You said you wouldn't mind to drive to pick up a ride, but that you're also in a jam. Don't buy a car that seems okay just to have a car that you'll regret later. Yes, finding an AWD today in decent shape is...
I agree, that's priced too high. When buying a car like ours, IT IS WHAT IT IS. Talon's are inexpensive. Good for you, *hitty for the seller. We can get talon's cheap. If he thinks it's impressive because of an intake setup, he needs to re-evaluate that thought. It's good that you thought...
^^ Did you get an authentic B&M or something from Ebay?I read that quite a bit of people have to sand this or that with a fake B&M. In my opinion, a shifter is extremely unique...like how tires are the ONLY part of the car that touch the road, the shifter is the ONLY control that YOU...
Just want to make sure, you are referring to the exhaust manifold gasket, correct? Not a gasket that's in the exhaust piping itself, right? If so...check your torquing when you put it in - over torquing cause break those I believe. Also, maybe just replace all of the studs with SS ones...
Don't think I can make any more points than what has been said, but just another voice to hopefully convince you to get the belt done!!! :thumb:This is stated very necessarily on the tech guidelines...MAINTENANCE MUST COME FIRST. If you spend all this money on performance parts and have a...
Call your local Mitsubishi dealership service garage and ask them. If they think that they'll even get $8 out of you for a gasket, they'll tell ya whatever you want to know. Or better yet just have them order it and go pick it up. I just took my intake off the other week and wanted a new...
Any chance this could go in the opposite direction? I seem to be constantly running rich at WOT, even when I lean out via the S-AFC II...Any chance I could blame an o2 sensor?Ben :talon:
This may sound a little simple and obvious that you did it when you re-installed, but check your vacuum hoses. I've taken off my intake manifold to do some work and when I put it back on I accidently put some vacuum hoses in the wrong place, i.e. the FPR and manifold nipple hose. For some...
Just throwing in D1151BA on google, the first things that you'll notice are the numbers 550....So okay I guess I'm running what I originally believed.
I'll start checking for more boost leaks that may not be obvious...?Ben :talon:
The injectors are Precision Turbo and Engine, pintle style. D1151BA is imprinted on the side of the injector. Top just looks black, can't really make anything else out. AFC settings for low throttle are -17 - -18 across the board. I've had it at -13 - -15 for years, went through when I got...
Finally installed a wideband last year, got in accident, couldn't drive the dsm till this year. Tuned it with pocketlogger previously, everything (and by that I mean basically the timing curve) looked smooth and straight. I'm looking now on the wideband, and even around -23, -24, and -25 I'm...
Great site ^^^ And also, this same EXACT thread has been in existance for a couple years (same question, "I'm in the area, who else is around me" with a bunch of pages of folk saying where they are from, might as well just merge...Any word on any track meets for this year so far?? Nothing...
I didn't even consider the aspect o maybe the NECESSITY (depending on where you are) to make your car not look like a drag king, either in the eyes of cops, thieves, whatever. Very good point, thank you :)
I didn't mention this in my previous post, but my side mount got taken off by a curb :/...
First, I would respectively suggest for you to know what you yourself want...You first say (the bottom quote is your original post) that you want to max your turbo, then later you say you don't plan on maxing it (but you'd like the option). There's ALWAYS the option to max it, however that...
^^ Agree. That's one of the new DSM owner FAQs in the articles that are a MUST READ before you do anything - a big question is "what is the biggest turbo I can run??" When you take off your O2 housing itself, just check it out. You'll notice how small that thing is comparted to the turbine...
I'm also in the same boat as the thread starter with close to the same mods. I'm picking up some cams in the next couple of weeks. I was pretty set with 264/272, but before this thread I had never heard of the 264s being "conservative." I don't mind a rough sounding idle with the 272s at all...
My first guess would be the ISC, but yes it certainly could be a few things. It sounds like the car does different things every time you travel a little ways and then stop again. Check out the "Terry's trouble shooting guide to idle diagnosis" on here somewhere.Ben :talon:
thank you very much for the response...I was really expecting people to ignore it and say 'search' (which I did).
That was what I was assuming, even just an valve angling job would be more than I could handle. Looking in the 1/4 list, I see that only maybe like 12 people are using some model...
With my turbo I don't think it would help out too much (FP Big28)...but I'm looking at maybe needing a new head :banghead: Would I see gains in any way with a slowboy stage 1 head (simply a remanufactured head with a 5 angle valve job)? Or just stick with a stock 2G head? Thanks in advance...
Also!!! Somebody mentioned earlier if there would be enough room when you cut the turbo elbow to clamp something on...Check it out, and if you are SURE that you are going to end up cutting it, make SURE there is room. That was my desire to do before I figured out my current setup, and I just...
I wrote up a how-to article last year on this...I'm running a T28 with an intercooler that connects the same way. Basically: Whenever you cut a pre-made cast iron piece like our turbo elbow, you're always running the risk of the housing cracking. You can make a very sharp 180 elbow that will...
IN MY OPINION:No need to consider the small 16g - It will have faster spoolup than the Evo III (but not the T28) but not close to the pull of either that or the T28The T28 (IN MY OPINION) is an overlooked as well as underestimated turbo with great potential.
The Evo III (statistically...
the answer has already been given to him - NO you do NOT HAVE AN URGENT NECESSITY to re-wire your 255lph. MY PERSONAL OPINION and point is if you have the resources to do so and it's so inexpensive, why NOT? Plus, that dinky wire to the pump is just like ANY OTHER PART our community of tuners...
