Which head gasket for O-ringed block?

Thank you. I guess my search didn't find them because they don't have "gasket" in the title. This thread...http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cylinder-head-short-block/420289-felpro-mls-o-ringed-head.html...was very helpful.

Which head gasket for O-ringed block?

I've searched the forums on head gaskets but can't seem to find a straight answer on what is the best head gasket to go with if you have an O-ringed block. The engine specifications that matter are:7-bolt, 10.5:1 compression, 40-50 psi, O-ringed block.

I am looking for a vendor who currently has the following Spark Tech system in stock:Spark Tech DSM/EVO 1-3 PRO CDI COP Model: COP-DSM12FThis is not the one that extremepsi.com sells. If anyone has advice on who might sell that product, please let me know.

    Loud squeaking coming from engine

I had a loud squeaking noise coming from the engine, and I thought it was a belt. The belts are in good shape and plenty tight, and then I noticed the drive pulley was wobbling. I traced the noise to this. Then I thought it might be a bad harmonic balancer and searched some threads on here...

    Automatic Trans upgrade thread

Great thread, good info.I have a Precision Industries billet torque converter, recently installed. Kigley flex plate, TCU reprogrammed. I don't build boost until close to 4,000 rpm, so I was in desperate need of a higher stall. With the stock torque converter, I could stall up to 2,400...

Looking for a good high-speed stall torque converter

Does anyone have any personal first-hand experience with aftermarket torque converters? I've read about the IPT billet torque converter, but haven't been able to find much information on anything else.I know there are a lot of factors that go into torque converter selection, but the basic...

Dyno results from bolt-on motor build

Not sure about the fuel pressure, but I know it wasn't lacking. I have 1050cc injectors and they were at 91% with e85. Technically I could go a little larger on the injector and get more hp, but I don't want to take the stock engine any further.

Dyno results from bolt-on motor build

No doubt, no doubt. I know there are a lot of people who have had huge success with strokers. I just know that I can make the power I am looking for with the stock stroke, so that will be the route I take.Thanks. It's good to be back on here.

    Why 260hp on 272 with 9:1 comp

I feel like there's too much missing information to give an educated response other than guesses. Air/fuel ratio, knock, wot, tuning, etc. But, not knowing most of that, 260 whp with just 91 octane doesn't seen so bad considering how many unknown variables could be just slightly off, effecting...

Dyno results from bolt-on motor build

I believe my turbo is good for about 650 hp. I'll be building for more than that, so an upgrade will probably be coming in the future. As for a stroker, I've been convinced they aren't really the way to go for serious power. They become a weak link when the larger stroke puts too much...

Dyno results from bolt-on motor build

Thank you. I went to Sam Houston a long time ago and live in Conroe now, which is just south of Huntsville so yeah, maybe we'll run into each other.FIST Racing recently moved to north of Houston, closer to where I live so that was good. I was impressed with every stage of the build they...

Dyno results from bolt-on motor build

FIST Racing in Houston just completed a large list of bolt-on parts to my otherwise stock setup. You can see the details of my car in my profile, but it's basically bone-stock from oil pan to throttle body, with the exception of ARP head studs. The rest is just turbo, intercooler, fuel mods...

How much horsepower can the stock bottom end handle?

I'm sure this topic had been beaten to the ground, but I haven't been on here in a long time and doing a simple search didn't show any current results, so I wanted some fresh ideas.I'm not looking to break any records or achieve unrealistic goals. Just wanting a few educated opinions. If...

How much horsepower can the stock bottom end handle?

Well, as the title asks, how much horsepower can the stock bottom end of a 1998 4g63 handle (safely)? I'm about to go to the dyno for a tune on a recent bolt-on build. It is a speed density setup now running on e85, if that matters.I've been searching the threads and have read 450 hp, to 530...

    Cannot raise boost with MBC

Resolved the issue. As some of you suggested, yes, it was a BOV. replaced it with a 1G BOV, and I have to say the car has NEVER run so good. Both in performance, and every day drivability. I can't believe the old stock BOV was causing so many other little problems as well. Thanks for the...

Yeah I've done a boost leak test and all seems well. I'm putting my money on a crappy stock 2G BOV. Thanks for the replies.

    1G bov on a 2G

Yes, but I'm just looking for a very temporary scratch to the performance itch we all have. You see, I have almost finished purchasing all of the big, fun parts we all dream about, so I will soon be tearing it all off anyway. But in the meantime, while I drive the car, I want to have just a...

    1G bov on a 2G

Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find it. I have a pretty much stock 2G, and I have a 1G bov that I want to put on. I need the flange adapter that will allow me to put a 1G bov on a 2G intake. Where can I get said adapter?

What ignition coil should I use?

Thanks for all the help, guys. I will continue to work on it and update pertinent information.I'm onto a different lead now - you know those 3 black plastic spacer/gaskets that go in between the fuel rail and the engine? I lost one when I removed the fuel rail, so I made one out of a piece...

What ignition coil should I use?

If my wires are not-so-good, and I put new coils on, is it possible that the coils are now producing the energy they should have been, and the bad wires are now more prevailant? Also, at idle, I sprayed some carb cleaner on the injectors where they enter the intake, and the idle dropped...

What ignition coil should I use?

Brand new plugs, another set of NGK BPR6ES. Gapped .028. New coils. Yes, it does feel like spark is getting blown out, because it only does it at full boost and full throttle. But it didn't do it at all before I replaced the coils, and now it does it. I've checked and re-checked everything...

What ignition coil should I use?

According to the manual, the coils are out of spec in resistance on the low voltage side. I am reading 1.2 ohms, instead of the .5 - .7 range they should read. Either way, I just picked up a couple new coil packs and will get them installed as soon as it cools off a bit. I'll post my results...

Yes, the specs would be very helpful, thanks. We need a good thread on this anyway because I've been searching and it hasn't been easy to find.We held 10-12 psi during the boost leak test. I am running NGK BPR6ES plugs, gapped to the recommended spacing (I can't remember what it is, I...

What ignition coil should I use?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just wanted to be sure. The issue I'm having is, under normal acceleration there is a surging of a sort, an inconsistency, lack of smoothness. And under full acceleration it is also evident, and up top it feels as if it's lacking in power. The car is all stock...

What ignition coil should I use?

At 142,000 miles, I'm having minor issues that are leading me to believe that my coil(s) are not up to par. So I was thinking of replacing them. I know that the stock coils are pretty good, but is there anything else out there that may provide a stronger spark? 4G63.

After 6 years, I'm back with another DSM.

Thanks everyone. My plans for this one are not quite as radical as with my last one. I had fun tearing up my '95 Talon, making it barely streetable, no a/c for light-weight, etc. I guess I'm getting older or whatever, but this time around I want to keep it more tame and hi-class.I'm not...
