Well, after some extensive searching and research, I've come to the conclusion that the majority of reviews on the ebay style short shifters are pretty good. Most posts I've found about them state that as long as you get the B&M knock-off and not the old Fidanza's (new ones have a stop in it) or...

Hey, car doesnt start so I bought it to a reputable shop here in NJ. Was told the wiring harness is bad and needs to be replaced. I was quoted too much to afford to fix and am wondering if anyone could help me out with the job. Im in Morris County. PM me to discuss more. Thanx a lot.
Not to hijack a thread, but when I get my car back this friday, I was wondering if I could unplug the TPS to help with misfire for now? There aren't any bad side effects to doing this is there?
I sent my car to a mechanic to replace my short block after I spun a rod bearing. I picked up a used short block in good condition from a local DSMer, ordered a BSEK from Slowboy, and let the shop do the work. Now, my car has had a 6 bolt swap since June 2005 and has ran fine up until it...
Im having the exact same problem. Im following the directions on RRE's site and the pivot shoulder will not fit through the hole its supposed to go through. Im not sure if I'm missing something, but I cant get it in.
I feel for you man. Same EXACT thing happened to me. I cracked a valve back in november and had the head rebuilt. No more than a month later I spun a rod bearing. It sux :( .Mine was caused by oil starvation, not sure what else could cause it but that might have been it.
Thanx for the help. I had a BSE kit from slowboy put in so that is taken care of. As for the timing, I wasnt aware of that so I'll be sure to make sure it is taken into consideration.
Yeah, DSMlink is one my list but I probably wont have it for a while. I was thinking of just picking up a logger and clearing the random misfire everytime I get in the car. I heard of someone doing that, and it would clear it for a couple hundred miles until it came back.
Other than that, what...
Hey everyone, I have another question that the dsm gurus of this site need help me with. I'm in the process of having a used, but good condition short block installed after my old one spun a rod bearing. I already gave my mechanic the wiring diagram of the CAS for 6 bolt swaps. I just need to...
Wait till you get a boost gauge before you install that MBC. The factory gauge doesn't do you any good when raising the boost and you could hurt your car. A new autometer boost gauge can be had for like 50 bucks. If your still a little short on cash, check the classifieds.
When I got the bad news today, the first thing I asked him was the condition of the head. He said it was fine. I'll find out more info tommorow and update. Thanx for all the help.
This is what the previous owner of the short block said. I told my mechanic thats what it could be so he's gonna be checking and double checking it tommorow.
Not exactly sure but I would imagine my mechanic did the timing. The short block looked pretty damn good. Cross hatchings were still visible and it has about 20k on a rebuild. The previous owner said it came from a strong running car with good compression. I had the head rebuild back in Nov and...
Im not sure what exactly your asking but ill try to respond. The car was towed to my mechanics and he replaced the block that had the spun rod bearing with a used short block I bought from a local dsmer. The motor was put back in and I was told today that a compression test revealed 0...
What's up guys? I have a little dilema going on right now. I'm in the process of fixing my car that spun a rod bearing back in January. The car was sitting till last month when I picked up a used, but good condition short block to replace the one with the spun bearing. The short block had cross...
Only FWD came with a governer. I heard this is because they came with different rated tires than z rated ones that came on AWD's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Make sure you have a boost gauge first before doing anything. As far as those mods go, a MBC isn't needed since an intake and UICP really shouldn't affect boost. However, I suggest picking one up anyway. Forced Performance has Joe P. MBC for like $40 or you can even make your own for cheaper. An...
It's probably someone's 2ga to 2gb conversion that didnt include the rear bumber. Some people, including me, like the 2ga rear with everything else 2gb.
They are pretty nice cars. However, they fall short after the awesome-ness that was 3rd gen Rx7. If you do pick one up, make sure its the stick. The autos are slugs, my buddy has one and I smoked it when my car was completely stock.
Well, the short shifter came in the mail today. I ordered it on the 8th, so I'm pretty happy with the time it took to get here. It looks like a very solid piece. My car is still in the shop but once I get it back I'll be sure to install this right away and let everyone know how it holds up. :thumb:
Well, it's a little too late for a warning since I ordered one this morning. However, thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to put it through some hard shift testing once I get it in and post up the results.
Sweet, thanx for the link. I decided on the first link you provided. It doesnt come with a knob, but I already have an aftermarket one so I'm good there. I'll be sure to make a little review once I get it installed and test it out. Thanx again. :thumb:

Well, I get my car back next week and the first thing I'm picking up is the datalogging program from pocketlogger.com. I have a m100 palm pilot laying around so Im gonna use it on that. My question is I know 2g can't read knock on a datalogger, but you can tell if your knocking by looking at...
I guess colored rims like those blue ones are the new thing with suby's. Theres a black WRX that I see from time to time at work that has a similar rim only in green  . Nice pics BTW :thumb: .
That video is just nuts OMG . I remeber unlocking that in Tony Hawks Pro Skater for PS1 and just watching it over and over again. BTW, what song is that in the backround?
Spent months searching the classifieds and dsmtrader when I came across a 95 GSX only about a mile away from me. 5 Speed, 92k, bone stock, everett green, and only needed a new radio and valve cover gasket. Paid 4800 back in October 04 and since then I've gone through a 6 bolt swap, rebuilt head...
From the looks of your profile, you have a 255 fuel pump. That is whats causing your FPR to overun. Im not sure on which one to get, but would imagine a quick call to wherever you're buying it from would answer all your questions. :dsm:
GsXtacY325, your car looks hot :thumb: . I plan on doing this 2ga/2gb combo the same as you. I just want the front, headlights, and spoiler of a 2gb. If anyone has any other pics, keep em coming.
Sorry for bringing this thread back to life, but I got a question. Would using the 14b exhaust housing onto a s16g be an upgrade? What is the tradeoff for using a smaller, 6cm exhausing?
Dejon makes some good upper intercooler pipes. Or just do like I did, and search the classifieds. I found a Dave Brode UICP with a 1g BOV for $70 bucks. You already have the BOV, so getting the pipe shouldnt be that expensive.
