hmm interesting..I have noticed that my 1st, 2nd and 4th gear do move back and forth when releasing and pressing the gas. Not with 5th though.

I was under the assumption that a synchro's purpose was just to get the shifter in to gear, not actually hold it. And aside from that, if it was a bad synchro, wouldn't the gear shift badly? Mine is smooth.

Oh I just remembered a couple days ago I opened my radiator cap while the car was still hot (like a moron) and hot coolant poured out and I guess it's possible some might have gotten on the shifter linkage. Any possibility that that could have damaged anything?
