I picked up a 97 GST a few weeks ago. Bone stock under the hood but has some nice mods to it. Hoping to start tossing in a few of my old DSM parts and have some fun. It's my first FWD Mitsubishi.I also have a Ralliart Sportback as my main car.I guess there isn't any meetups. I hitup the...
I just got one also, for my Galant VR4. I lost my smog buddy recently, haven't found a replacement. My Galant VR4 wouldn't be bad at a smog test, my buddy just gave me cheap smogs (~$25-$30)
Here are a couple crappy pics from the meet, prior to re-arranging cars.Galant VR4 guys! (i'm the grey (KG) oneGalant VR4 777/20002G GuysBad pic of the 1G guys3000GT Guys (i missed a few)4G Guys
is your wastegate functioning properly? I hit mine with some compressed air to make sure the arm and wastegate was operating. Also, on my 92' GVR4 my CAT fell apart into itself and clogged the exhaust flow. Try dropping the CAT out and driving around the block on just the downpipe.
Yea, I was in the Grey Galant VR4 chasing you. I saw you at the stop sign turning onto Wilbur and decided to catch up and make sure.I was on my way to work also.
Just spotted a white 1992 Galant LS (from the tails) on Wilbur Way (by Mac Road) but it was most likely a Galant VR4 with LS Tails. Lowered on some rims, no front bumper.I pulled up next to you in my Galant VR4 but you were focused on the light.
I'm up for a local meet, but In'n'Out has a tiny parking lot.I drive a Kensington Gray GVR4 and I think I did spot you at Mac/Stockton. I work right around there and DD my GVR4. I've been meeting a lot of fellow GVR4 enthusiasts lately and hope to put together a MOD 2013 cruise!
I agree, with that bearing damage you should hot tank the engine block and replace/clean all oil lines. There is also going to be damage to your crankshaft and you won't know how much until you take it to a machine shop.At this point I'd either: Build the engine to 'factory fresh' or go pull...
If it's just minor clicking and no real damage has been done yet, you can take the rods/crank to a machine shop and they can test for damage.I don't have much experience engine building, but for a bottom end build can you just drop the crank/rods/pistons out the bottom?
I've had smog techs argue with me over stock intercooler piping and others that hardly looked under the hood. It all just depends.Previously, when I was sure if my car would pass or not, I asked for a smog pre-check to make sure i'd pass visual/sniffer prior to running the smog test. Most...
I have a Kengsington Grey Galant VR4. My co-worker spotted a white GVR4 a while back and I posted about it on here.I haven't been to any Sacramento meets, recently moved here from the bay area.
I used one on my Evo to keep an eye on A/F. I found it wayy too expensive though to track additional items ($100 for the boost sensor!).It's a good A/F gauge, didn't experiment with logging capabilities though.
I'd like to know also.I followed the diagram here:

Factory:AfterI did mine slightly different, the MBC is run off the wastegate/turbo nipple (j-pipe) and my boost...
FFTEC in Hayward - Mustang AWDQuick forum search on EvoEmpire came up with this one:

Go to a smog shop and ask for a pre-test only, they will run your car through the CA smog test and a good technician will tell you if he will pass/fail you for visual. If you pass sniffer, then ask for a regular test (right after the pre-test).
I had to practically give away my 98' Talon TSi AWD when I bought my Evolution, economy is tough.I ended up selling for $5k or so... and it was for sale for months.
My co-worker spotted it off Mac Road in South Sac, just wondering if it is anyone on here. Couple days ago, white Galant VR4 lowered.I daily drive my Galant VR4 to work, wish I could have spotted him!
Sounds a bit like me. I went Evos for a while then got into a VR4.Which one did you pick up? The panda in San Jose?I picked up 912/1000 from LA in December, keep getting her closer and closer to running right. She was in rough shape when I got her. I've put 4,500 miles on it since then...
You can sue him under fraud and misrepresentation if he knowingly sold you a car without full disclosure. This can even pierce the "AS-IS" clause in most bills of sale. That is, if you can prove that he knew about the issues, neglected to give you proper disclosure, and profited from it...
Anyone know anything more about these transmissions? The CL ad doesn't give much info and he has a TON of them up. Cash only makes me a bit concerned, especially when I see junkyard trannies for $250-$350 and he wants $950 + core for a supposedly 'rebuilt' transmission without giving any...
Like the title says, looking for one in good shape I can drop into my Galant VR4.Looking to spend less than $600. Bonus points if it's a TRE/Shep/FFTEC rebuilt. Also searching for new front/rear axles if available.
That's great that you got the important stuff out of the way, now she can take you for half of everything :hellyeah:j/k, marriage is fun.My daughter asked me last night if she can have a car just like daddy's Galant VR4 and to keep it for her when she's older.
