Well I have a high stall 9" billit converter set around 4500rpm. I am having a hell of a time controlling temps. I have one of the larger trans fluid coolers IPT sells but I bought it so long ago I forget exactly which one. It is set between the front mount and radiator. I have rewired my OD...
Are these guys any good with dsm's? I don't need any major work done, some ducting to keep this thing running cool and some tinkering with my fans and pumps via link. My dad has my car and it's all over his head.
Is this exclusively for metal fabrications? Any one have any recommendations on where to get supplies to build ducting? My dsm is overheating (shocker) and I need to try and get more airflow through my radiator.
So I am searching for ducting ideas due to my overheating issues and here I find this gem. I remember your paper template you were building in your garage and now you have a very well polished completed project. Bravo, good sir. Now If you want to start mass producing just give your piece to...
Overall airflow is not an indication of how much air is in an individual cylinder per cycle though.Generally speaking, the more air you put into a cylinder, the more fuel you can put on top of that and the bigger "bang" you can collect. Even though airflow and even hp may increase it...
Hmm, do your fuel trimmings richen things up in the higher rpms? What cams do you have? Also gravedigger I have recently picked up a set of 2150cc injectors, I was just having a thought..
That is to say the fuel demands on the injector are less affected by rpm then say the pump? Correct me if I am wrong, let's say if an engine were under 20psi from 1rpm all the way to 50,000rpm the amount of fuel spit out by the injector would be about the same (assuming identical afr)...
I'm getting the fpr, we have established that. You guys are confused about my mechanic though. You guys shouldn't speak so matter of fact when u don't know all the details. He's been a member here for years, well known to be a good guy and has run his own car the way described for some time...
U did not drill out the return siphon? My mechanic had different luck running an inline walbro configured the way mine is however the Bosch behaves differently once it turns off.
You guys think voltage would be okay? The car lives in Reno where there will be times every accessory on the car (windshield wipers, rear wiper, rear window defogger, heater fan, headlights, radio, dual high output radiator fans) will all be on at idle. I'm not sure what fpr I have now, the...
I have 2150 injectors and if my memory serves me correctly ( and my memory very rarely does) I think there was an issue with the 255 intank and the 044 inline overrunning the fpr and running too rich at idle and/or an issue with not enough voltage, but I will have to verify with the mechanic...
My mechanic said he tried turning it on at 10 psi but had some small issues with it so then reset it to turn on at 4 psi. In his hands it worked well but since I've been doing long road trips and using cruise control at 85 mph I'm finding the car stumbling when the pump turns on and off. Right...
When I bought mine IPT was calling it the auto dsm's new 5th gear and in the part description said the lock up was indestructible. I guess when I bought it I made other plans for it besides just cruising.....If I knew how/why they were failing I guess then I would know what I could get away...
I have an older 9 inch billet torque converter and I understand they no longer sell my version any more due to lock up failures. I just wanted to get a good understanding of what makes them fail. Were the failures due to people trying to force the lock up under a load or was it simply under...
Is a mbc known to manage pressure more accurately than the springs in a wastegate? I always thought that it was reverse....The wastegate has 2 springs inside of it, perhaps I can remove the inner spring and try and hold 20 with the mbc. The other option is keep the springs and just set the...
Any suggestions? The tial has a 20 lbs spring in it and it will creep to 23-24 psi.Currently there is no boost controller on the car. Car is flowing around 60lbs/min at 8500rpm on 91.
Thanks guys. The plan is to operate the TC with OD switch and relocate OD to the dash/console with a toggle. As for the OD, do I just extend the current control wires to the dash? I'm thinking just a simple up/down on/off toggle...... Will I need to add any thing or is it a simple extension...
I bought my TC several years ago, it definitely has a lock up function and it seems to fumble around a bit. All things considered i still would like to control my lock up function with my OD button. I would simply be using that switch for the TC far more than I would be activating and...
Because I would use it more than controlling OD I would like to make my OD button control my TC lock up function. To control my OD I was thinking of installing another toggle, perhaps by my knee or on the dash. The only time I would disable my OD is to drag race and I would use my TC lock up...
Install awd, disperse load across 4 axles. Next question......Lol, just kidding. Perhaps you were doing every thing correctly but there was already some structural compromise to the axle after some wheel hop from another occasion. I don't think what happened to you is very common while...
Does any one have a picture that could help me identify which lines on the trans are feed/return and also what would it take to correctly control my TC lock up function with the OD switch? Thanks for any help regarding these issues.
I am not a guru and hopefully one can come along and correct me if I'm wrong but the od is regarded as pretty week and not to be used when racing with moderate to high power cars. That being said you have one fast 16g car. That is seriously quick for such a modest turbo on an automatic.
But after the shift kit alot of ours seem to be downshifting before we come to a stop and before the application of a load, perhaps some revisions to the code could fix it.....
Yep, it still has one. My only intention for it is cruising in 3rd and 4th on the highways. The stocker does a pretty good job but I'd be happier if I could control it myself, keep temps down and reclaim some mpg's....
Is there any thing stand alone that does this? I know there is a switch on one of IPT's boxes but I have never seen any thing stand alone that gave user control of lock up. I have a high stall 9 inch TC and I'd like to get some of my MPG back....
Mine clunks too.... It's the primary reason I am looking for a shift controller. Without the clunk I'd be fine with a tuned tcu. I wonder if that's some thing that can be remedied with a tune? Ask it not to downshift until under a load? Come to a stop, car leaves trans in second, light turns...
"For 2g's, we can mount the switch outside the box allowing the box to fit in the compartment behind your shifter."Any one have a picture of what they're talkin about here?
I have his email. For the next guy that comes along though wondering this crap, he can reference some of the info in here.Haha, yeah. I think it's well established at this point that I don't know what the #### is going on. :p
Dave? Is this some thing you can write? 40% line pressure for every thing under 40% throttle, 70% line pressure for throttle between 41% and 70% and then 100% line pressure for every thing over 71% throttle?I am just giving some rough ideas, let me kno what you can do and how many...
Aftermarket cooler is installed (I go back and forward about adding an additional one(s)) and temp guage is installed also. Negative on IPT assembling my trans. I just bought parts from him and had a local builder do it. Now that you know a little bit more about my car what provissions for...
I have a fresh rebuild on the trans, IPT's clutches, IPT's end cluth kit, translab shift kit, IPT's billit 9 inch stalled at 4200 (however it only goes to 3500 rpm and 6-7 PSI before the brakes give out) as well as a larger trans cooler.....The guy that has been working on my car...
Well, if i would be able to control my line pressure with a flash from High PSI, would that alone be "safe" to run at my output? I realize I will not get that wheel HP btw, just using it as a reference point ....What would the advantage be of going to davids TCU (who is david?) or IPT's...
I have been putting my car back together, just converted the car to E85 and wanting to run an HTAgt35r at 30+ psi. High PSI and I have talked about doing a reflash but I was thinking the blue wire mod with relay might be appropriate as well. I don't know exaclt what kind of power the car is...
I understand IPT still has his, road surge makes one, TCUGO went away? I remember some one started modifying chips in the factory TCU, that working pretty good now? He was just experimenting with it when I left.....There was also some cheap ebay module that some guys were trying. Not...
Is Amsoil Universal Synthetic ATF and the bottle of black LubeGard still the way to go? Ive been out of it for a while, having the end clutches replaced and need to know what fluid to put back in.
I already have the translab shift kit. I bought another new set of end clutches from IPT. The current new set has about 25 miles on it, lol but it is a factory set of end clutches.
My car, when slowing for a stop at a stop light will downshift quite harshly into first. Only does this half the time. Works wonderfully with exception to a rough downshift when coming to a stop. Happens right around 4 mph.....
Hey guys, sorry for the long story up front. This whole DSM build has been one big, long, expensive cluster fu(k. I will try and spare you the details and be direct. My car after about 5 years of sitting around is finally going to need to be tuned. My car originally had dsmlink V2 but...
