Car : 1992 Plymouth Laser 1.8 LiterSymptoms : Misfiring. For about a year it has always ran really rough when first started after it hasn't been ran for 24 hours or so. Sounds like a lawnmower. I used to be able to give it gas up to about 2000-2500 rpm and wait about 30 seconds and it would...
Yes. That is the exact problem I had. It makes it a real bi*** to drive doesn't it? ROFLStart the car and let it warm up. Once it starts limiting at 2 grand, go under the hood and pull the connector off of the idle position switch. Wait a few seconds and give the throttle a twist. If it...
Awhile back I replaced my 02 sensor in my 1.8 liter 1992 Laser. And that is where the problems began. The original 02 sensor had 2 wires. Every place that I went to to purchase a new one, they tried to sell me one that only had a single wire. So eventually a guy at autozone said that maybe...
I have a 1.8, so my advice will have to be translated. But it should give you a general idea of the 2k limit problem.Awhile back my car started doing that. It would limit at 2,000, and there was nothing you could do to get it to go past that. For the 1.8, you can simply unplug the ISC...

The reason I ask is because I had a similar issue right after my tranny swap and didn't know what it was.So I just drove my car home and let it sit there and idle while I looked around for the source. Eventually the rattle got even louder. If you revved the car it would be somewhat calm, but...
All I had to do was replace the bolts. I doubt there is anything wrong with the pulley itself. I just imagine the bolts have backed out a bit, and now they will be stretched. So I would advise replacing them. And yes, it did squeek when I:Started the car
Turned on the headlights
Turned...
I had the exact same problem. I first tried to tighten the alternator belt, which did work. But about 2 days later I went around a curve and the engine started ticking in sync with the revs. When I stopped at a stop sign my crankshaft pulley simply fell off and rolled away from the car...
I'd get a friend to push in the clutch a few times while you look at the slave cylinder to see if the clutch fork is moving it's full amount. Also, when you have the clutch pressed in and rev the engine, Is there any vibration or strange noises from the engine bay?
Right now I am hoping that the idle surge, and high idle (1500-2000) are caused by that connector being taken off currently.I'll let you know how it goes once I get that faulty sensor replaced. I also went and bought a fuel filter, I will be installing it once I get the sensor.
Thank you for that help.Like I said, it is very much appreciated. And don't go thinking I didn't take your advice. A new fuel filter is in the works once I cash my paycheck tomorrow. :)About the ISC sensor, I was considering going to a JY and picking up a new ISC sensor and the motor...
Okay here is an update.I went out there and hooked a voltmeter up to the tp sensor to test the resistance thru the throttle range when the problem occured.Everything came back normal.I then pulled the plug for the isc sensor, and the car started running normally. So does this mean...
The fuel filter has not been changed. It can be though if you believe that it may be the cause of this problem.I went ahead and took a video of the Tach when this happens. It seems to precise on the limit to be caused by the fuel filter, plus the car runs normally before the CEL light...
Okay I made a thread about this a few days ago, but have since gathered more information. So here it goes.____Car: 1992 Plymouth Laser, 1.8 Liter.Symptoms:The car rev limits at 2000 rpm. If you try to cross 2k, it will cut the spark and the car will stall for a moment and...
Mine has been down for around a month now.2nd tranny went out. So now I have went thru 1 automatic, and 1 5-speed.I also have cracked rings in the third cylinder, and a blown head gasket. So within the next month it's a new (to me) tranny to put in, and an engine rebuild. At least I...
The back seats are really easy to take out, so I removed them and then put them back in after I was done.I masked off all around the floorboard with a wide masking tape. If you accidently get some on the plastic, just wipe it off quickly.
Well, I am all done with the back seats. A few touch ups will be needed. It was originally burgundy, and it took about 3 cans for the back seat alone. lolI have also put down one can on the passenger floorboard. and it will need touchups as well. I am currently waiting on walmart to...
Looks good, let us know how the softening process goes. And has anyone tried this with 1G seats. I've never been a 2G, but from the pics I can tell that they use a different material. So would this work well with the rougher 1G seats? Also I have a burgundy interior, will that present any...
I bought a can of Duplicolors vinyl and upholstery "paint" yesterday.I tested it out on a visor that was broken off in a tragic automatic seat belt accident. When I went out there today and checked on it, it was very crunchy and stiff.I don't want my entire interior to be crunchy like...
I had a similar problem with my car after I accidently drove onto a flooded street after going over a railroad crossing. The car would not rev over 1500.I eventually tracked the problem down to one of the electrical connectors on the throttle body.I reccomend that you unplug those...
Thanks for the response, but that just happens to be the article that i was going off of.It says remove the automatic computer that is on the firewall, there are two devices that resemble the computer. None of which i would consider being on the firewall. So i was just wondering what...
I normally don't like coming on to a forum and immediatly asking questions, but i need some quick knowledge.I own a 1992 Plymouth Laser N/T. Last week my automatic tranny went out so i bought all the parts i needed for a M/T swap for a staggering $150. Anyway i am in the midst of the swap...
