It doesn't take much to stink up a small space like a car. A gram of good weed would be plenty and could easily have been tucked into a crack or vent by a nervous passenger. However without a sealed container it would gradually disappear as it dried out. Since this seems to be an ongoing problem...
Most tool boxes are the same....They're usually made of steel, they're square, and hold tools in drawers. Seriously though the HF ones are actually pretty nice and tough to beat for the price. I bought a Craftsman box used for $300 when I started working at the garage. Buy whatever one fits your...
Wasn't there an aftermarket company that sold a setup similar to this? I seem to remember seeing the opposite filter housings for sale a few years ago.
None of them are"easier" to work on than another. The more familiar you are with a certain vehicle, the easier it is to repair/modify because you know what to look for. Someone who works on DSM's all day will say they are easy while someone who works on Ferrari all day will say they are easy...
You can also have an authorized inspection station do the VIN verification. I've done a few myself for customers. You'll have to check your local laws but here in Pa. any licensed inspector can do it too.
ROFLROFL Man you guys got good eyes! I think theirs 2 maybe 3 of those non turbo water pipes and a turbo pipe somewhere. No AFPR but there's roughly 2 feet of braided line I had left over and a stainless oil feed line I found hanging in my rafters but no fittings yet lol.Hopefully tonight...
Sounds good guys. Im off every thursday and friday, and home by 530 on the weekends. Let me know when you wanna come out and for now ill start clearing the shelves and putting stuff in boxes. Ill try to keep it so you can see whats whats before you load it up.Sent from my SCH-I400 using Tapatalk
More than willing! I want this stuff gone. Motivated to sell ROFL. Justin I've got a 14b compressor and exhaust housing down there too. The wheel and center section were destroyed but those parts were in good shape. You know you need more parts!!
I gave it a good run but I'm done with the DSM thing. I've got tons of little odd and ends that I've collected of the last 9 years. Everything from coil packs to valve covers. The majority of it is useable, some of it is probably junk. I don't have the time to go thru everything so I'm...
When I found my 1g it was sitting in a field. The mice had eaten the fuel pump harness, and the entire hatch was filled with dropping and smelled something awful. Once I started the clean up and got further in I noticed they had also eaten the entire harness for the automatic seat belts along...
Your opening line of "I am a do it yourself mechanic shouldn't be added. This tells them one thing and one thing only. You are not a professional therefore you don't know what you're talking about. Also are you suing the machinist or the company that employs him? Your intent has to be specific...
BOV flange
J-pipe gasket
Throttle body shaft seals
Lower injector seals
Intake manifold gaskets
Intercooler pipes/couplers
The intercooler itselfThose are the most common places for boost leaks that I've come across.
I've been using a organic gasket on mine for 4 years without a problem. If I remember right it was a fel pro I got from Napa. They hold up pretty well and are a lot more forgiving than MLS types when it comes to the machined surfaces of the block and head.
What all does the current motor need? I've got a lot of odds and ends for engines sitting downstairs. If you can get me a list I'll let you know what I have laying around. I've got the remains of probably 4 6 bolt engines collecting dust here.
I feel the same way. The 1gs are disappearing fast. All the ones I've seen are way too expensive and need way to much work just to run. I used to see them all over but now everybody want's the 2g. I've actually been kicking around the idea of getting rid of mine if you're interested PM me.
If you do the work yourself it would be cheap to fix. As stated the parts are cheap. Just get a timing kit $100-$150, water pump $40-$50 and get a top end gasket set $80-$100. At max for parts I'd say you're looking around $300 plus machine shop fees. If you take it to a shop you're looking at...
Exactly! You should see some of these guys they have fixing cars in the company I work for! I'm surprised some of them can even tie their shoes let along repair something as important as brakes. A guy at another shop removed a customers drums for inspection and didn't put them back on before...
I've been using my trusty Craftsman box for the last 5-6 years at the shop. I bought it used from one of the guys up the street at the dairy for $300. I'm pretty sure the box is as old as I am (29) lol. It even came pre stickered with tons of old school muscle car stuff. It definitely reflects...
You make a good point about the shims and even under the shims needing to be cleaned and lubed as well. The pads should move freely in the brackets without any slop or they will rattle and hang. I actually had a Caravan like this just today at work. The shims were rusted up causing the pads to...
Always lube the pins. I've been a career mechanic for the last 5-6 years and I've done a lot of brakes. If you don't lube the pins they rust up and freeze causing the brakes to not work properly. You'll get uneven pad wear, a soft pedal, the brakes will wear out faster than they should, and...
I haven't read the article so you may be right about the "turd" comment but the way they have it written is easy to be taken out of context. I'm sure it wasn't a mistake since they chose to put it in BOLD letters right up top and then go on to say it's "short on looks". F$@# this writer, and...
I did that once a few years ago when I worked at a gas station. I had to set up the prices and forgot a decimal point. Gas was like .288 cents for a few hours before I caught it. The boss was not happy lol.
The 1g talon decals that were used to blend the gray ground effects with the color of the car would be nice to remake. They were gray and clear so they work with any color car. This is the best picture I could find. Mine are long gone so I don't have measurements but it shouldn't be hard to...
I'm surprised the nose bleeds from being so high on your pedestal while driving your obviously superior vehicle don't annoy you. I never said I didn't like driving it the way it is it just gets old driving it everyday.
It does get a bit annoying driving the Talon everyday. It rides rough, it's loud, the clutch is stiff, and no a/c or power steering gets a bit old. The quirkiness gets a bit old too. Roll into first, careful with reverse, don't park on hills, and that sort of thing. The rev ups at the lights get...
I'm not really sure what category I'd fit into. I guess I'd be considered middle school? I've been into DSM's since 2000ish but I've never built anything crazy. I've driven my Talon almost everyday for the last 8 years and it still runs the original 14b with 216K miles on it. I remember when...
I'm just getting confused because the time line is all screwed up now. In Tokyo Drift Han dies but in Fast and Furious he talks about going to Japan after they all split in Mexico. This would make Tokyo Drift the 4th? movie in the time line? However in the trailers for Fast5 we clearly see Han...
It decided to lose it's spark intermittently and I don't have the 90 transistor or coil to repair it at the moment so I'm trying to figure out a way to swap to the 91-94 parts without changing my ECU. Needless to say it isn't working so I'm either going to find the 90 parts to fix it or just...
I've read that article and that's probably what I'll end up doing if I can't figure out another way. The Vfaq used to have the article in question. The link has since gone dead but it was a how-to on swapping it all over complete with the later cluster and coil. I believe the original article...
Wednesday on the way home from work my car died. It simply shut off and would crank but not fire. A quick look on the side of the road determined I was getting fuel but I didn't look much further. After sitting a few minutes it fired back up and all was well again until yesterday. I drove to...
Lol shut up Eric its 206xxx now. For the asking price I was thinking 1500 maybe more if I sell the wheels with it. The kid I work with offered me 1500 but hes kind of a d-bag and I dont want him to have it. As for the parts its all mostly stock stuff. Ive got 2 junk heads, one that needs guides...
After 8 years with my DSM I've been seriously considering getting rid of her and figured I'd give the locals first dibs. She's a little rough around the edges and needs some TLC but I drive it 35 miles to work and back everyday. With 2 kids its becoming impractical for me to keep it and I'm...
One of two things can happen if you tell the supervisors. They could fire him on the spot or they'll confront him about it, he'll simply lie, and nothing will happen to him. Then he'll know you snitched and who knows what would happen. You'll be stuck working with the guy and he'll make your...
I have the stock unit from my 90 sitting right in front of me. Its actually a 2 piece unit with a separate tape deck and am/fm unit that uses a cable to connect the two units. The only pieces I don't have are the two triangular brackets used to bolt the units together and into the vehicle. They...
I have all those parts that are painted red in case you want to swap them out lol. Nice pickup although you seem to have forgotten to show what under the hood.
I've had tons of R/C's in the past.
HPI Rs4-3 type SS (went 62mph which was fast at the time)
HPI Rs4-3 RTR all carbon fibered out
3 HPI Savages
2 or 3 Traxxas T-maxx's
2 Traxxas Revo's
2 Losi LST's
Team Associated Team TC3 (went 60mph)
a few Ofna 1/8th buggies
Losi mini LST
HPI wheelie king...
ROFL No Porches in my neighborhood!!!Yes Eric the DSM still lives! 205k miles and counting. The inter cooler is already fixed and I'll have it back on tomorrow or Wednesday.
Not as bad as my day yesterday lol. My car decided to go for a ride by herself. I was getting the kids out of the car and when I shut the door and started walking away I hear the neighbor yell OH SHIT! I turn around just in time to see my poor dsm roll into another neighbors porch. Damage to the...
