From what i've read there are 2 types of the eagle h-beam for 7 bolt. The current ones on their site are part #CRS-5900-MB3D, says right on the site that these are setup for 7bolt rod bearing sizing. I just got a used set of Eagle 7bolt Hbeams that are CRS-5900-MBB, I can't find these anywhere...

Yes, the idea behind this is that if the mount is bad, the engine can shift forward/back when under load, or letting off the throttle (Ever notice when the hood is open and someone revs the engine, the engine tilts?). This would be amplified by bad mounts potentially causing the shift linkage...

You might also want to check to make sure there is some end play with the clutch pedal. If there is now, 2g DSMs are known to "pump" the system and give the "mushy" inconsistant feel.
