  1. Name this part ASAP, have pic (cam cap guide?) dowell

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but was the OP able to source and purchase the Cam Cap Bushings, or Cam Cap guides, or what ever they are called. I need them!
  2. What Bearings? Eagle Rods & Crank

From what i've read there are 2 types of the eagle h-beam for 7 bolt. The current ones on their site are part #CRS-5900-MB3D, says right on the site that these are setup for 7bolt rod bearing sizing. I just got a used set of Eagle 7bolt Hbeams that are CRS-5900-MBB, I can't find these anywhere...
  3. .48 a/r 50 trim - little hottie?

So would it be safe to assume that a well clipped turbine wheel in a .48 housing would be a good comprimise between the .48 and .63 housing? Most of what I've read about people using the .48's were complaining about power falling off before redline. Would clipping the turbine wheel (trim's...
  4. Fidanza flywheel ring gear swap question

I recently got a 6 Bolt FWD fidanza flywheel in a good part-out deal. I have a 6-bolt AWD, does anyone know if the ring gear could be changed for the tooth count difference? Would it be worth it if so? Thanks
  5. Post the Color of Your Car

I have a factory Tropical Lime 95 TSI, have only seen one other one, I think was NA, two states away to Mass. It took a bit, but the color has really grown on me :)
  6. 1st and 2nd gear problem - 10 conclusions

Yes, the idea behind this is that if the mount is bad, the engine can shift forward/back when under load, or letting off the throttle (Ever notice when the hood is open and someone revs the engine, the engine tilts?). This would be amplified by bad mounts potentially causing the shift linkage...
  7. Another Clutch engage/dissengagement Problem

You might also want to check to make sure there is some end play with the clutch pedal. If there is now, 2g DSMs are known to "pump" the system and give the "mushy" inconsistant feel.
  8. 1st and 2nd gear problem - 10 conclusions

Bad Motor mounts causing excessive play in engine bay when the engine and drivetrain are loaded?
  9. Car poping out of gear

I had the problem of it popping out of second gear when the throttle was let up. We pulled the motor and tranny, in process of rebuilding, and noticed the front and rear motor mounts rubber was trashed. I'm suspected perhaps that the extra play in the engine from front to back may have had a...
  10. weird grinding noise

My transmission has 116,000 on it, and has been Auto-X'd quite a bit. Which bearing in the transmission do you mean? Is this something I can diagnose myself with minimal tools?I was also wondering if anybody knows if a 1G Transfer Case will fit on a 2G Transmission? I know that there are...
  11. weird grinding noise

I also have the same problem. I have a 2G Talon TSI, Just started recently though. While in gear and "Engine braking" off throttle, I will hear a sound thats not like grinding hard, but like a metal-2-metal rubbing/scratching sound. It can happen in any gear. If i'm accelerating or have the...
  12. Mix your own race gas... in the hard ware store

It was my understanding that using increased octane fuel can will in most cases in a forced induction/ nitrous application increase performance, but the power is not from the fuel or the octane rating. In DSM's, if any knock or excessive knock is detected, the ECU will pull timing until the...
  13. Dsm'ers in Maine ?

From Sanford ME here, drive a Bright green 95 TSI, could not miss it even if you wanted to. I live in the Sanford area, and Auto-X alot around Maine. Next event in this Sunday 9-05-04, and the Augusta Civic Center Parking lot. Would be nice to see more DSM'ers around, i'm usually the only...
  14. Anyone into AutoCrossing???

I've read every inch of that site, and I'm amazed. It's remarkable how he fit 275's under that car using 1" wheel spacers. I would love to set my car up to that extreme. However I wish he documented more on the front LSD. It seems as though that is the most definitive answer (as well as...
  15. Anyone into AutoCrossing???

I realize this, I was explaining how my boost response changed for better on MY platform. I was trying to speak generally, since a MBC is always a good thing :thumb:Sorry about the confusion :confused:Intact :talon:
  16. Insurance [Merged 10-6]

159.34/Mon, 95 Talon TSI, 94 Saab 900s, full coverage, 200 deductables, my fiacee and my self in Maine. Interestingly, the Saab is more expensive to insure than the talon after you break it down in my policy.Damn, I could not imagine paying over $250/mon in insurance.Intact :talon:
  17. Anyone into AutoCrossing???

What I mean by that is for a while, I was using the BCS Restrictor Removal *free mod* and would get the turbo to spike 18PSI, then QUICKLY fall down to 13-12PSI. I'm pretty sure that I was just blowing tons of hot air because the T25 was far past it's efficiency. As a result of this, I was...
  18. what do i need?

I use the Eibach Pro-kit w/ Tokiko illumina shocks 5-way. Very cost effective and Work very well for my applications. I autoX alot so the adjustable dampining is nice. I live in Maine so alot of roads are very old and bumpy, so running the shocks soft, while have a performance spings, gives...
  19. trans

I think my 3rd gear synchro is on it's way out, any shift over 6000RPM gives me a small "Buzz" sound as it goes into 3rd. If I let the RPM down to around 4500-5000RPM, it shifts fine. Fortunatly, when AutoX'in, I never really come out of second. But this is annoying on the street. My car has...
  20. Anyone into AutoCrossing???

I think the GSX has stellar acceleration, if launched correctly, and can provide incredible corner exits. For Most non costly, I'd have to say a Rear Sway bar. I really can't think of any major (free - Very low cost) ways to make it accel better. Mabey take the back seats, and spare tire out...
  21. Anyone into AutoCrossing???

I've been AutoX'in my AWD 2G Talon all summer, and I must say it's a blast. I'm in SM and run some yokohamas with 60 Treadware rating, good suspension etc. Like all AWD cars they have benifits at corner exits, but takes some finess in long sweepers with understeer if your to anxious on the...
  22. What is the rarest 2g DSM color?

Here is my Green talon, I know it's a crappy picture at night but you'll get the idea. 95 Talon TSI built Dec'94
  23. my awd "taken off the line" by a civic

Just turned 115,000. I won't say "Crankwalk" around my car in fear of Ginx'in it :D
  24. Trannies for RWD

I once read about this porsche in Turbo magazine. 4G63 Powered, running 11's. Looks like it took tons of modifications, but I think It came out good.. Here are some pictures I found on the net of it, no good engine shots, but from what I can tell it was Dec 2003 Turbo that had the article...
  25. What is the rarest 2g DSM color?

I just bought this car this past winter. I have not seen another one the same color. After some research on the net, I only found one other guy have one.. It was modded pretty good too.Intact :talon:
