I know exactly what you're doing, I was planning on doing a lq4 427 buildup as my chevelle will be a 69 yenko clone (in a 68 body) and I too wanted to pursue the pro touring scene. However, I stopped at the build price of 22,000 for an assembledy long block.I'd recommend...
Oh I understand exactly how much power you can make with a turbo ls1. I'm just a fan of a big ole nasty cam. I also got my motor for less than 1500 with brand new parts (and my old 327 traded in). What I would do though if I was going to run a turbo without the big price tag of ls1 parts is...
Yeah, 427s are very cool, internally balanced and meant to take some rpms. Course, you want to run one with a stick, and when you do that, parts start flyin off. ROFL
Sounds good! I've got a 68 chevelle with a little 11:1 385/2004R/12 bolt 4.11 posi in it. I like my chevelle lumpy, and with solid motor mounts and a 305 adv duration cam, it is. ;)I've got the bottom end of a 454 built now, waiting to afford heads/intake and t56.
I used some cinamin in my chevelle when I ran race gas. So I took a chic for a ride in my car and did something girly to coverup the race gas. Don't laugh at me too much.
Actually no they are not. And besides, you can internally balance a 454 as well. That was not the redline, I'm just saying the torque curve is a nice flat line from 2000-4000, then it starts to fall off. It can rev to 6500, but it won't need to go over 5500.
454 is externally balanced and 427 is internally balanced. All you do is replace the vibration dampner.Show me where I can find a stock block that can be bored and stroked to 572. You're talking about a dart, merlin, or other aftermarket block now. You're paying way too much for the...
Since I don't know what the crank throw is, I'll assume it is pretty over square motor. It'll want rpms so make sure you get it balanced, use forged pistons and rods, arp bolts. It will be a dog around town, you'll probably get spanked by hondas off the line. Throw some big ass turbo on it...
Cool find on the nova, I've got a 68 chevelle with a lil 385 in it. http://www.chevelles.com/showroom2/badbu68c.jpg http://www.chevelles.com/showroom2/badbu68b.jpg
Looks nice, I see it occasionally at the end of my block with manufacter plates on it.First time I saw it was at Olive Garden of all places, I thought it was an Audi TT at first as I just glanced at it, then I looked back and it saw ECLIPSE.I like it, but I'm a cheap bastard and wouldn't...
These two boards are specifically for central illinois imports:www.centralillinoisimports.orgwww.dsmcentral.comI'm in Bloomington/Normal, but the dsm mafia is mostly from around Peoria.
The cowl induction hood with vacuum control was option ZL2, it was not mandatory with the SS package. All the SS package got was a cowl hood, unless you specificaly ordered that option (wich clearly wasn't as seen on his build sheet) you got that hood right there.I'm not getting where...
Do not paint your seat or dye it with vinyl dye. It WILL rub off. if you want to change the patern, go to an interior shop and have them replace the section of seat.
I've got a 68 chevelle malibu with a 11:1 compression 385, 2004R tranny, 4.10 posi 12 bolt. I've got a set of 325/50 drag radials that will be mounted on 15x10 vette ralleys with a custom backspacing for clearence. I like mine to look stock but sound not so stock.
I paid for a set of forged shift forks from ******* via us postal money order and sent it through priority delivery with delivery confirmation. He recieved the money order but never sent me the shift forks. I've sent him numerous pms and have yet to get a response back since 8-28. I've had...
I think 3 rotor should be a drag car only thing, but in the rx7 community 20B = teh coolness. You can make enough streetable power with a 1/2 bridge as is.Anyway, both cosmo motors (RE and 20B) have same motor mounts, they sell em for $250 on a few diff sites. Course, you still have to move...
I'd be willing to bet that almost no major car manufacturer balances their motors. It would be TONS cheaper to make pistons/rods/cranks meet a certain spec and throw the out of spec pieces away or refurbish (grind down) them than it would be to assemble rotating assembly, throw it on a balance...
Just sold my black 87 t2. :(Had a haltech, n1 duals, blown motor, etc. It was a stock 91K car that was dead when I picked it up. Gave it a push down a steep hill, popped the clutch, bam, car started up. My 13B-RE never arrived, got hosed twice. Didn't have much into it, was looking at...
No, like it was rwd. You still will have the rearend on the pavement, but with the driveshaft removed, it will not engage the transfercase/transmission/etc.
