simple way to check for spark is take the spark plug wire off put a screw driver inside of it and then make sure you put it close to the good ground [ex. valve cover]. Let somebody crank the car if you see sparking arching you have spark.

port your exhaust manifold, o2 housing, this should help you out with boost creep but i have seen people porting turbo also to reduce boost spike.

you sure she bought right intake for you? ### my 2ga with injen intake did have recirculate fitting. There is two choice you could return it and get the right one or you could take it to a shop and drill it out and weld recirculate fitting. I would go with the first option tho.
