Hey, it's you! (Cleveland Racing FTW!)Anyway, as you probably know, I just finished my rebuild and I put almost exactly 60 miles on it, mostly on my way to the shootout. I varied the RPM quite a bit. I checked my compression last night and I had 155 on each with a grand total of 59 miles on...
^^That is how I did it, but like the poster said, be careful. When I was taking it off the donor motor, I snapped the timing mark right off. It was a junk case, so it didn't matter, but you can bet that I was much more careful when assembling it on my motor.
Sand would most definitely stick to assembly lube. Blowing won't remove the stuck particles. If you aren't comfortable tearing it down, I would talk to a local engine builder for an estimate. Maybe he will cut you a break. I don't think they would even need to hot tank it, just remove...
For the record, there is a big "spring kickoff / Clevelandracing.com" party at my house tomorrow. I live in the Parma area. PM me if you need directions, there will be lots of DSMers there. Last year we had about 70 people.
Well, my rear end is back on, including wheels! I found that I tacked on the first carrier bearing bracket about 2" too far forward. I thought it was suppose to straddle the opening, apparently it isn't because the bracket is about 2" too far forward for my carrier bearing. Good thing I only...
Here are the pics. Bad quality, but I didn't have my camera with me, just my phone.104: Drivers side where i cut the support.105: Passenger side where I cut before the bracket.106: Drivers side again.
Done and done. I'll post pics as soon as I get them off my phone.I made a cut in the middle of the lower left part of the X. The corner piece came right out and I was able to drop the new bolt in. All I have to do is weld it back up where I cut it.I can confirm that the bottom piece of the X...
No, it's not symmetrical. That's what I thought at first too! I'll post pics tonight when I get home. I cut the right side out without a hassle through the trunk of the car. I cut a hole in the same spot on the drivers side and there was nothing under where I cut. Then I looked closer at the...
I was thinking about my problem last night. I can't really tell, but it looks like there is only one bolt holding the X bracket to the floor. I don't see any welds, but I may have missed them. If you make a straight cut across the pipe and unbolt it from the floor, it may come right out. It...
I am at the same exact point. I was able to get the passenger side without any problem at all, but the drivers side is literally covered up but the X frame support. How the hell did you guys get that bolt out? Did you cut out the X frame? I hope not. This is the last piece of the puzzle too. : /
I am smack in the middle of my spyder AWD conversion (and built 6bolt swap... go figure) and I have a few questions/statements. First, if anyone needs any spyder pictures for locations, let me know and i'll post them.Question 1 Do you guys have enough clearance behind the AWD fuel tank, once...
I just read a review on the Megan Racing Short Throw Shifter. It appears he had some major fitment problems. I wanted to post my thoughts on it as well to show that it may have been a maching problem with his.I received this from a site vendor very well packaged. It came with a chrome shift...
Thanks for the reply! I did see those, but I wasn't sure if they were nitride coated like the standard 6bolts cranks. Is it possible to tell the difference between a non nitride coated crank and a coated crank visually? If so, that is an option. When I take my crank out this week, I can compare it.
I am familiar with the general differences between the 4g63 and 4g63T engines, but I haven't been able to find any info on the cranks. Everyone I asked seemed to have the same answer. "The motors are identical except for the cams, rods, etc....." but nobody knows about the crank.I am building...
Is your paypal account attached to your credit card or bank account? If it is attached to your CC, just call your credit card company up and dispute it. Paypal won't be happy about it, but you will get your money back.
Ok, I just re-read your initial post. "great shape" is a bit on the subjective side. Is that exactly what he said? He may have meant "It's in great shape for a 3 years old turbo". Did he specifically say that the turbine wheel/compressor wheel were perfect? I am trying to figure out if it was...
It depends on how you define rebuild. Did he purchase an "ebay rebuild kit"? I just don't know all the details that you do on this. If you sent that turbine housing into FP, they probably would replace it because of the cracking, but not if he rebuilt it himself. Did he specifically say that FP...
I was not arguing about the price. The turbo itself isn't in THAT bad condition. I would run it.However, paying that much for a turbo in that kind of condition is wrong. If he told you it had 10k on it and there were no cracks and the fins were A-OK, that is dead wrong and you should get your...
Honestly? It doesn't look that bad. Those cracks happen. I don't think I've ever seen a used 14b/16g without them.As far as the blades go, they aren't that bad. My exhaust blades were worse than that and my car boosted just fine for a long time. It looks like it had a bit of shaft play at one...
I would also like to add that the stockers have the "open fin" design. I recently replaced mine. However, I am not 100% sure, I will go home and check. It is hanging on my wall.I do know that every aftermarket one I have purchased was closed. Unfortunatly, I haven't seen any gains/losses with...
Aircraft Paint Stripper from autozone or some other auto place. It takes all paint off within like 3 minutes. No hassle.dont get it near anything that you want to keep paint on though =)
They are very similar turbos. The both use the same compressor housing and close to the same turbine housing (6cm vs. 7cm) but you can port your 14b housing out to 7cm.
They both use the same exhaust turbine wheel and a nearly identical center cartridge. The big difference lies in the...
Was this in Canton? In Cleveland (Cuyahoga County), for ECheck, all you have to do is do a tailpipe test for a 1g or if you have a 2g, they just read your codes. I thought all echecks in ohio were the same. They actually inspect your motor????

The temp. never changes in with the "windchill" effect. Go read up on it. The wind moves what little heat your body produces away from it faster so it feels cooler. Think about a fan in the summer. It doesn't lower the temp, it moves the heat away from your body.
I have had really good luck with the jbweld putty. Not the kind in the 2 tubes. First, rough up around the end of the pipe where the bead will be with some sandpaper or something. Roll it like playdough in a long line and wrap it around the pipe where you want the bead. Smash it down to where...
5 couplers, 10 tboltshowever, they only come with 4 couplers, 8 tbolts for some reasonThe picture shows 5/10 and they are required for a proper install. They don't seem to be responding to request for the missing parts.Anyone have a different experience?
Once everything goes through this Friday, I am going to organize a "new leadership" get together, most likely at Dave and Busters, but I will put it up for a vote at clevelanddsm.com. I keep finding that a lot of the DSM people I meet in the area haven't even heard of cdsm. I am also going to...
I understand what you are saying, but I do not that that is our problem. I end up having to ADD fuel to get it to even idle without throwing a misfire CEL. I had my injectors cleaned and benched and they flow just about 540cc. That should be right near %-18, not anything positive. Yes, all cars...
I got my tranny out, I am just waiting for parts now. I'll be able to get it all back together in the next few weeks and then I can tell you if the plug wires fixed it.
Welcome to my world. I have had my injectors cleaned/benched. New plugs. I do have stock wires, when I get my car back together, I will throw the accell's in that I just bought. I have to run at like +5% with 550s to get it to stop misfiring, and it still misfires a little bit even at that. If I...
For the most part, you are dead on. However, I disagree with the rebuild part. A rebuilt turbo can be just as good as a new one if done right. First, it MUST be balanced. I don't care if you mark where the shaft was, I wouldn't take the chance for $20 worth of balancing. If the wheels haven't...
I have you tried new plug wires? I'll let you know if it fixes mine as soon as i get my car back together. Let us know if the new coils fix yours, I am considering trying that if it helps you.
I don't think I ever took my oil cap off when doing a leak down test, but I would assume it would bleed out of the vent on the valve cover. I think it would be more beneficial to do a compression test. If that comes back fine, your rings aren't leaking any more than normal.I wouldn't worry...
That is EXACTLY my problem, although I cannot say with 100% certainty that it is my injectors because I did a bunch of upgrades all at the same time. I am pretty sure they are the problem though. However, I even sent them off to be cleaned. They came back with perfect flow results and did not...
They stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinkNo matter how much time you spend cleaning them, they apparantly like the smell and do everything in their power to keep them selves surrounded by it.They are cool as hell though.
