I made sure my dipstick was secure and fit properly.I also replaced my PCV valve as I thought from the symptoms and only on right turns it could be the culprit. So far no oil smell or smoke, but I am waiting to see before making any sort of declaration.
I was driving to work this morning and noticed that when i downshift into 3rd gear from 4th and go around a turn, I noticed a burning oil smell.I thought it was the other car on the road. So I continue and notice nothing when driving straight or in boost.I take another turn, downshift...
Buy an NGR Type S. Gives you a nice Greddy sound with a strong diaphragm. I owned a knock off Greddy, an authentic Greddy, and now the NGR, and the NGR is by far the best hands down.
Unless you drive with the pedal to the metal, that is not good gas mileage. With the modifications I have I can still get 250 a tank driving mostly around town with a little highway. So you are correct in saying your mileage is bad.lol
I see all you have right now is an intake. So let me start here..1.) My stock gauges are a FAIL. Check into trying an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.2.) Same as 1., but never worry or care about what your stock boost gauge says.3.) If you do #2, you will find out if you are...
I called Shep racing and explained a few things to try. Eventually, I had the shop take apart the transfer case and it was obvious once you got it apart, because the gears were starting to shred.
Does it get louder or go away as you increase the rpms? Agreed, it does sound like an exhaust leak or lifter tick, but i never rule out a bad auto tensioner.
My write up should answer just about all of your questions. I updated it when people contact me with new ones too.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/266084-complete-awd-auto-5speed-conversion.html
I currently and have been running NGR Performance's Type S blow off valve. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is simply an upgrade to the Greddy Type S, which is not for sale anymore. The reason I am writing this review is because I commonly get asked what bov I am using and...
I don't remember having this noise before I had my clutch and flywheel replaced but it is hard to say, because it sat all winter before hand. When letting off the gas or downshifting (engine breaking) the car makes a whining noise but drives fine. What is the best way to pin point which...
Read my tech article. It should clue you in to what is all involved.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/266084-complete-awd-auto-5speed-conversion.html.
So I wanted some cool pictures of people and my car so I made a contest!Talon Photo ContestI also have a Facebook fan page.Ben's 95 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd *DRK EGLE* | Facebook
The NGR is far from a knock off. They are better quality then the original Greddy Type S. I know because I have owned a 40 dollar ebay knock off, 2 Greddy type s and now an NGR Type S. Best purchase yet. When my threads started to strip on my old Type S, I used teflon tape, and a nut on...
For someone like in my case where I didn't have a plug for the reverse light switch, I would have to use connectors to attach wires to the 2 prongs on the transmission. What color wires go to what prong? I could just tap into my auto plug then.
I ran into the same thing on my 2g. I just ended up making a switch. BUT, the best part is....when someone is tail gating you, you just flip the switch. The result is priceless...
I use 5w - 30. I don't drive in the winter thou. Actually, you should consider getting a set of 3g lifters or a set of revised lifters. The holes are far bigger and if you are going to take them out anyhow, I think its worth throwing a set in. Its nice because no matter what, I don't hear a tick!
It should have gone without me saying in my last post that you do need to address the leak you have at your injectors first. As far as the biss leak goes, alone, it is very unlikely to be the cause of your issues.
Which kind of checking did you do? There are two kinds..1.) I looked at all the pipes and everything is still in one piece2.) I ran a boost leak test using a BLT and spayed down every pipe and hose to inspect for leaks/bubbles.If you haven't tried the second one yet, I would try...
I wouldn't do anything that will cost you time and money later. Before you start, don't get an ACT. I just had my second ACT fail on daily driving, twice in 4 years. One was a 2100 street disk, the other a 2600 6 puck.Recommendations:1.) Fidanza Clutch 3.2
2.) Fidanza Flywheel
3.)...
I had a bad coolant temp sensor before, but that game me a slightly different issue and it was at least consistent and a struggle to get the car started without giving it gas.I am not throwing and CELs or anything which is another thing. Being that my car sat and sat. Maybe I just need a...
Just as the title states. The last couple days I haven't been able to predict when my car will start and when it will not. Let me give you a quick recap.4/11 - Wheel bearing replacement in rear driver's side
4/16 - Clutch and flywheel replaced after ACT pressure plate broke a finger (again)...
:notgood:DO NOT BUY AN ACT CLUTCH!I am furious beyond words. I had a finger break off my pressure plate today messing up my flywheel and clutch. This is THE 2ND TIME this has happened in 4 YEARS. I drive my call to school and back. I don't go to the drag strip, I do not do launches, I do...
Looks like your oil pressure sending unit is leaking. You will also need the round gasket behind the oil filter. It's on the oil filter housing assembly, maybe the oil filter mounting bracket gasket?
1. Boost leak2. Spark plugs are bad (gap is wrong)3. Problem with ignition coil or spark plug wireThose are the first three things that come to mind. Spark plugs are cheap, so if you haven't replaced them in the past year, go get some.
Ran a HKS SSQV, and it compressor surged on me. I was very disappointed that it would only sound and open correctly under considerable boost. I didn't think you could get flutter from a pull type, o well.I went with an NGR Type S. Best bov I have had so far. It actually beats the Greddy...
Throw a 14b on there and buy the needed parts for that. Save the other 2500 or whatever you have left for repairs. The moment you mod your car, is the moment things start going downhill.
I added a bottle or 2 of water wetter mixed with water. I didn't mix it with antifreeze, which could result with a difference in performance of the wetter itself. I found the combination I used didn't work so well.I am running 20psi as well on my 14 and do not have heat issues. The 170...
This is my 2 cents....FORGET the water wetter. I ran hotter using it than just a regular 50/50 mix.GO with the lower thermostat. I notice big differences when I replaced mine.GO with a rewiring of the fans, you don't need new ones. I ran a jumper wire in the fuse box so now...
