yeah the needle just drops. its only when i really get on it where the rpms would be over 4k. so if it is a wiring issue where under the hood does the tach reference its rpms?

i was thinking about mounts i know they are weak. and since you dont have to push the button from D to N i think it may do it when i gun the throttle.. if the mounts are weak it can move the trans far enough to move the selector. Thanks for the advice.
well i really dont think that is the problem because it only does it on hard acceleration and it actually moves the lever itself. i can then move the lever back into drive and everything is fine. and it only does it when i stomp on the gas. i can also move the lever without pressing the button...

my 94 eclipse is automatic.. it idles fine when in park or neutral.. but when i shift it into drive or reverse the rpms die way down and it ends up dying on me.. what can i do to get it to not die besides keeping my foot on the gas?

first thing.. the mount isnt just the rubber.. its the whole top part of the strut.. it rotates when you turn your wheels... so i say if it is going to be all torn apart you might as well as long as you have the money.. but usually i dont tell people to replace them unless they are binding..
well i worked on it for about 3 hours today got the rears in all except for the drivers side.. that damn lower bolt fused itself to the bottom of the shock.. i cut the shock off and the rubber and i am working on the metal ring around the bolt.. i might just cut right through the bolt.. anyone...

okay so isnt the 4g63 the same for 1st gen as it is for 2nd gen cars? why i am asking is because the exhaust headers are more abundant for the 2g so couldnt you possibly bolt one onto a 1g its the same engine right? i understand that the piping might be different going to the back of the car...
i would have pics but i dont have that car anymore... but yes that is exactly how i did it.. they were small screws so it wouldnt break through the plastic.
i think the plastic is actually melted into a flat top so it stays .. i used small screws with a washer worked great just make sure you get the screw directly in the center or it will crack and then you are up sh*t creek... hope this helps
