slider85, I'm having the same exact problem. I'm going to do all the troubleshooting you've done so far on my 90 talon (180,000 miles) and keep this thread updated. The only thing I've noticed different from your problem is that the moisture water that leaks out of my exhaust appears to...
I had no luck with this. They were extremely rusted and hard to remove. I might have damaged the bolt itself. I just hate where they put those bolts. :-( Good luck to those of you trying to remove them.
::knocking on wood:: I believe this problem has been officially repaired and resolved. I wanted to give everyone an update. I replaced the power transistor, the battery, the spark plugs and wires and the alternator. The main problem that we found was the alternator being shot. From alternator...
I had the same thing happen to me last week and it ended up being a bad alternator. After the symptoms stopped, the car ran fine for about 4 days and finally die on me completely. If I were you, I'd take it to advance auto for a free diagnosis. While you still have juice in your battery...
On haynes repair manual....17.2 says remove the two bolts on the top of the inner fender panel (which I've done) and 17.3 says while working underneath the vehicle..... to remove the lower battery tray bolts.....Those of you that had succes in removing the bottom tray bolts, pleassseeeeeee...
Guys, I'm due for a starter replacement. I'm having a HELL of a time reaching the bolt that holds the battery tray. Not the two on the top, but the one directly underneath the tray. Any suggestions please?I tried from underneath the vehicle using a wrench extension but its too far up and...
Well, I have a similar problem to yours, except my 1G talon won't go over 25 MPH....I've been told to review the coil pack and power transistor. Does your car misfire or feels like running on a dead battery? I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but you can review my link below. My thread is...
It seems as if you have several problems here. I'll let others give their opinions, but I own a 90 Talon TSi AWD and historically (so I've been told), synco rings go bad on transmissions over 100,000 (it can happen with less miles too). If you have bad synco rings, shifting will be hard and...
hey thanks for the reply. I'm assuming you're referring to the coil pack. I have it ordered and will replace it. I also have a starter that I'll replace. Can anyone else help please? Thanks!!
Hi Guys,I need your help please. I was giving a battery boost to my 90 eagle talon tsi awd, but tripped over tools and the pos/neg wires made contact accidently. The car turned off immediately. Gave another jump -- car was running fine, but then began to stall and/or misfire (like running...
My 90 Eagle Talon TSi AWD is due for a second gear with syncro rings/hubs. We should have a how-to on replacing these parts for the do-it-yourselfer. I know there is a how-to tech post on tranny swaps, but none on syncro rings replacement.
Next week, I'll begin to put the how-to together...
You are correct. I have a 1990 AWD TSI 5 Speed with a 16G turbo. The car is EXTREMELY fast and much better than the stock turbo. I don't know what specs I got (I'll get a dyno someday), but I've dusted a new Nissan 350Z. Either the driver was inexperienced or the car doesn't have enough...
I can almost guarantee it's the synchro rings. I have the same exact problem with 90 talon AWD TSi. To replace the synchro rings, you'll have to drop the tranny. I'll be doing that in a few weeks. I had this problem before, when the vehicle had 90,000 miles. I now have over 176,000 miles...
