The NLTS feature in dsmlink is actually a little easier on the transmission than you would think. Instead of you shifting normally (letting off the gas and then getting back on it, which kind of "shocks" the tranny), the NLTS keeps everything moving which makes it a much more smooth transition...
I'm sure that has much more to do with the fact that you're hitting full boost when your external gate opens. I highly doubt the noise from the external gate would be picked up by the knock sensor.
The turbine housings are all the same for the 14b and all 16g variants - all have the TD05H turbine housings. The difference between a small and big 16g is the compressor wheel, so you'd have to use the compressor wheel to distinguish which one you got. Hope that helps.
Well a local guy around here named Victor Brant ran an 11.6 (or around there) in his relatively full-weight galant vr4 using an SAFC for tuning. But then again he can drive like it's nobody's business :thumb:
I found it appropriate to say that because it was obvious you didn't understand what Coup was talking about. I understood him because I have the same problem with my Bullseye 38mm internal gate too. I believe you were confusing our problems with boost creep which is pretty much the complete...
About the air hissing out of the oil cap.. try and do the boost leak test when the motor is fully warmed up. This way the rings will be better sealed and most likely the air won't be hissing out of the oil cap cause the rings should be sealed (assuming they are still in good condition). Just a...
Deadtime for the stock 450's is irrelevant. The deadtime value that you see for different injectors is simply the number that the ecu adds to its set deadtime for the stock 450cc injectors. Knowing the stock deadtime wouldn't mean anything.Anyways, deadtime values can be different from car...
27 highway
22 cityHowever I should note that I do drive like a grandma most of the time.. except on the highway where I drive ~85 fairly consistantly. :p
Just because you don't feel a difference doesn't mean it's not there :) I bet you will see some gains in airflow on a logger, for sure. How much gain.. well it all depends on your current setup and how much the throttle body is restricting flow. Any turbo larger than a t-2small should see some...
Actually water has a higher boiling point than antifreeze, which is why a mixture of slightly more water (like 60/40 water/antifreeze) helps a bit in cooling. Water has a higher boiling point than antifreeze, and the antifreeze has a lower freezing point (the name should have been obvious) than...
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I've been told that the beer is actually cheaper than the soda down there so I guess I'll be drinking quite often :D . The parasailing sounds really cool too, I'll definitely check that out. Oh, and of course, everyone knows you don't drink the water in...
Really? See I heard just the opposite, that cancun was actually spared slightly by Emily. We called the hotel a few days ago and they said it wasn't all that bad.
Hey guys, my family and I are leaving Sunday morning to Cancun for a week. The hotel we're staying at is SUPER nice. Here are some pictures of it - http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=dspv&flag=l&itid=&itdx=&itty=&from=f&foop=0&hwrq=&htid=582720&spsh=&spsi=&crti=4&nfla=1I was also...
Ok, chill out skippy. I knew you had a supra sidemount, but I guess I just thought stock sidemount when I was typing that. No need to get your panties in a wad.How much is that shop's propane injection kit going for?
Just curious, but what convinced you to go with propane injection instead of water/alcohol injection? Those are nice numbers considering the boost and the stock sidemount, props :thumb:
The rewire is for the actual electrical wiring for the fuel pump. The stock power/ground wires for the fuel pump are ~28 gauge! Basically what you do is replace this with 10 gauge wiring as well as a new relay. Pretty simple concept and a fairly simple installation, too.
A shorter arm = more preload on the wastegate spring which means the wastegate flapper will be held shut with more force. This is the reasoning behind adjustable wastegate arms - they allow you to shorten/lengthen the arm to effectively raise/lower boost.
I've played guitar for almost 6 years now. I don't play now as much as I used to, but I still play as frequently as I can. I've had my black ESP ltd SC-500 (the old style, discontinued i think) for almost as long as I've played. ESP's are absolutely wonderful guitars and I'll be purchasing...
Word. FP Red = 60-1. I'd recommend a 60-1 as well. However, when shooting for those goals I'd feel much more comfortable opting for a full garrett setup instead of a bolt-on hybrid setup (unless you want to go the FP 30xx or FP Red route). There is nothing saying you can't get the garrett/mitsu...
Well if it's a puller fan it would be fairly beneficial if you mounted it behind the intercooler to pull air through it. However, a pusher fan mounted in front would probably do more harm than good.If it's a pull-type fan mounted behind the intercooler, then I say go for it. If you can get...
The ecu pulls ~.35 degrees of timing advance for every count of knock, so you can say that for every 3 counts of knock the ecu pulls 1 degree of timing. :thumb:
I was comparing alcohol injection to running race gas, not water injection. Methanol actually does have octane raising properties. I mentioned the addition of some water with the methanol for the reasons you mentioned.
I don't currently have an alcohol injection system on my dsm, but it's definitely on the list of things to buy soon. The biggest advantage that injecting methanol and/or water is that it is MUCH cheaper than buying leaded race fuel. Also, you can control just how much methanol you want to inject...
Exactly. Aluminum is probably the best piping to use for intercooler pipes. Mild steel is a cheap alternative, but not at all worth the very few bucks you saved from not going with aluminum. There is a reason that all the vendors use aluminum piping in their kits, you know :D
Those are V-trim and H3 dyno numbers. I'm talking about the t04b-50 which is the same as the t04e 50 trim but with the smaller t04b compressor housing. I've yet to see any numbers with this particular turbo.
I just bought one of that company's intercoolers. I didn't buy the one you linked to, but I bought their "X-LARGE" core which is only 20.5x9x3. There's no reason to buy the one you linked to because it's just a bit too small, IMO. The endtank welds on mine look pretty good, and the core passed a...
No, I don't believe a refund is offered, but I have spoke with David from Bullseye about this problem. The first thing to check is what I suggested. If that does not help your case, I would contact Bullseye and let them know your situation. If worse comes to worse, you'll return your turbo and...
Have you tried tightening the adjustable actuator arm? I've been having troubles with slow spool on my Bullseye turbo as well, but it's from the 38mm internal wastegate (standard with their turbos) blowing open way too soon. After tightening the adjustable actuator arm a good bit I was able to...
Well, I'm having some problems with the internal wastegate blowing open extremely soon. However, when the wastegate is wired shut I get ~20psi by ~3900rpm. I may be able to get that number down a bit because the car is on a very rough tune right now.
Eh, If I had to do it again I would have purchased the t04e cover. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the t04b "50 trim", but I only decided to get it because I was mislead into thinking a t04e cover was a pain in the ass to fit inside our engine bays. However, after helping my bud install his...
You'll more than likely sacrifice a little compressor efficiency with the smaller t04b compressor cover. Flow numbers and spool will be very similar if not identical between the two.I have the t04b "50 trim" on my car and I get the same spool-up time as my bud's Tsi that has a to4e "50...
I think you should also have a look at the feedback this ebay "company" has left for others. The negative feedback he leaves is absolutely unnecessary and quite immature. This guy.. I mean "company" has such a bad reputation that I'm honestly surprised that people still buy from him.. I mean...
Mine whistles all the time, mainly under lots of vacuum like when I'm in gear decelerating at around ~3000rpm. I actually like the whistle though, and every girl that has been in the car has called the whistle "cute" LOL!
Usually the whole "will support ___ horsepower" figure comes from how well the core flows. 1080cfm is quite a bit of airflow, so the fact that they say it supports 760hp makes sense. I don't think the 760hp figure comes from how well the core cools, so I don't know why they bitched you out for...
Those are some badass 60' times. Very nice! :thumb: What launching method were you using to get times like that? Also, I didn't see anything to tune with in your profile besides the Maft translator, is that all you're using to tune with? Regardless, I'm definitely impressed :D
I think DSMlink is worth it at any stage in modding these cars. Especially if you already have an Eprom! If you are willing to spend the money, DO IT. There is absolutely no replacement for it (besides a full standalone). While the chips are a VERY nice option for the lower-budgets, it can't...
A malfunctioning EGR will cause gas mileage to be down the drain. A blocked EGR won't be quite as bad. Either make sure it's working well or block it off.
I don't know many people who have to use nitrous just to get into the 12s on their 14b  In fact DevilSperm just posted his 12 second timeslip in the hangout - 14b, stock sidemount, not a very big mod list either. All it really takes is a little good driving and decent tuning...
Well, one thing you have to remember is that as you turn the boost up, that 50 trim will create a lot less heat than the 16g at higher boost pressures. That in itself is a very nice gain, even though you may not notice it yet. I'm willing to bet that the 50 trim will blow the 16g out of the...
Quite a few members on the DSMlink forums have had this same issue with PTE injectors, too. I don't recall them being off that much, though. Most of the time it was just a little off. I've read numerous times that PTE 880's flowed closer to 850's. I just picked up a set of PTE 850's, so I'll let...
