What did you do to your DSM today?

Ordered parts for my car from Mitsubishi dealership, and they still could get them! Nothing big, just the nut and bolt for the lower front damper fork. I somehow stripped the nut, and well, figured I'd get both since these were original parts on the car.

2G New to DSM. What parts to install IC and raise boost?

Back in the day you could get a slightly larger side mount from a supra which would be good for stock and also for an upgraded turbo...though those things seem rare and expensive these day....

128K on motor is it worth it?

My car(also a 95) is at 128k on the odo, though honestly, prior to my owning it, the milage showed as NAM from the DMV and actually showed upwards of 300+k miles. From looking at the numbers it honestly looked like it was a typo as the numbers went up 200k in one record of the car to the dmv. I...

What did you do to your DSM today?

Plugged in my ECU that had been sent out to ECMtuning for a checkup and repair. The car was giving me trouble and after testing everything it came down to the ECU gone loco and car no starting... She started up the first time and sounded beautiful....

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

Update: Sent to ECMTuning and had them check it out. Their tests showed it was certainly misbehaving and were able to get the board repaired. There was def some cap leakage damage along with a crack in the connection to the maf-reset. Excited to get it back and plug it back in/get back on the road.

    Coolant hose interchangeability

Yep, got the gplus marked ones. Should arrive this next week.Yep, those are the faily fail ones for me. Just going to change all the things since I'm in there...Yeah, in Cali. We get all the joys of the dry heat which has it's own set of issues...

    Coolant hose interchangeability

I'll take a look at these. Might as well get a full kit, right....Any key things to look for? This is the info for one I'm looking at getting. though seems pretty cheap.... :/ hose kit

    Coolant hose interchangeability

Thanks! I found my car leaking this weekend and when investigating, I found one good hose, one that was cracked and one that is squishy and about ready to fall apart....time to go through all of the other hoses and get them replaced if needed. :/
  10. voodoogsx

    Coolant hose interchangeability

I need to replace hose 15 but I'm wondering if that same hose replaces #18 and #5. They appear to be the same size, though just from eyeballing it. I haven't been able to identify the particular hose though other than it might be (MD112349).

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

The cap was leaking. I replaced it. The current one is not leaking. There was a lot of residue from the coating/flux mix. I've done a bit of soldering though at the time I didn't have my full setup available. Some solder flux helped but the residue mixed with the coating wasn't cleaned up.I...

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

The conformal coating as mentioned got a little gooey so it looked a bit bad(I didn't clean it up at the time) but I was able to remove it which cleaned it up a bit just a little bit ago. The bottom side solder joint, I clipped the ends of the wire as they were initially extended at least 1cm...

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

It was sent to ECMtuning for socketing when I got it done...way back in 2007...I can get pics in a little bit and plug it back in to confirm the ground lines. I didn't see anything wrong on the first go round, nothing loose. No burn marks or scorch marks/spark marks. Did some continuity checks...

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

I'll pull the ECU today and check it out.Yeah, this is not sounding great, It's getting to the point where the CEL comes on, no ISC/IAC init and the CEL remains on (when I get the no start). There are no codes when I can get to the point where I can get DSMlink to connect.I get that the...

Resolved 2G - No start on occasion, now most of the time

So I've had an on and off no start (turn the key and the car cranks but doesn't start). I thought it was my fuel pump as I could usually fiddle with the wires for the relay (did relay mod) and it wouldn't have an issue for a while.I recently had to replace my water pump as it was sounding like...

What did you do to your DSM today?

I tried to diagnose why it doesn't start as of late. Cranks fine. Starts sometimes....been an off and on issue, Always thought it was the fuel pump going bad but I hear it running....time for more tests....

Should I buy this 1995 Gsx

When I got my car, I checked the carfax, and same thing, it was up to 200+(I don't recall the exact number anymore) Then rolled back down to 112ish...again, don't recall the exact number. I bought it anyways. The issues I ran into pretty early(6 months to a year) were fun...with a capital...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

Hmm..if you are talking about the timing belt tensioner, that will require pulling the multiple covers to get to it...though I don't know what that will tell you atm. It doesn't seem like a tensioner issue atm as the engine does run. As you noted that this was a 95, you'll need to pull the cam...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

Yea, it's that labor that gets ya for something like this...even if you could source an engine...the time it takes to put it all in and get everything working is expensive.Technically, the mechanic is telling the truth, it's not a direct bolt in as you also point out...some wire splicing and...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

I've head/seen pitstop, though have no opinion of them. C&A is the way to go if you can. Their shop is tricky to get into...at least when I went there many years ago, so a tow truck might have some difficulty getting it in there. You said you had a metal piece come out of the oil drain. Do you...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

Which shop did you go to? The one I was recommended to and trusted in Burbank was Tyermans on magnolia, though they seemed to deal with the older 50's era cars. I still had some good exp with them.I know the pain though with finding a good mechanic. When I brought my car to see about the...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

Hmm...my first guess is it sounds like the lifters(my best guess) though it seems loud for that...My car has a lifter tick on startup but goes away pretty quickly and only slightly longer when it's cold out. If you can do a compression check, that might help to diag.If it is the case that it's...

    2G 95 TSI started tapping/knocking

What area in burbank are you in? I used to live near Victory and Buena Vista for quite a while so I'm familiar with the city. I also have a 95 GSX so pretty similar. You could get a recording and post it, that could help for a possible diag. I don't have a place to work on a car however as I...

With Tesla EVs being out, I feel even less motivated to get my GVR4 running again. Talk to me.

Speed doesn't matter, it's the love of the car. I've got a 95 gsx. I've had it for nearly 20 years...It ain't pretty, has rattles , needs some touching up of the paint and such, but people know what it is and respect it and I love the thing. The badge says it all. These cars are great to work...

    2G Re-add Model badging?

So I bought my car years ago and the badging was missing. No big deal, but it would be nice to give the respect to the car. I'm always asked about it by rando's and hey, it could open up the convo to people knowing what the car is and great convos that otherwise may not happen...so I recently...

    Vehicle emissions control info

This is the one I found which was as noted the exact part number for my car(Called the most local mitsu dealership and got the info based on my vin). This was from a 95 Talon Tsi AWD, so pretty much the same car as mine.

    Vehicle emissions control info

Thanks! I found one based on the part number (MD306194) I guess these labels differ from Ca and other states?Interesting that this models part is different. Is this from a turbo car?

    Vehicle emissions control info

I need to get the cat replaced, but the replacement hood has the wrong car info on it for the emissions stuff. I'm in California so, they won't replace without the info. Does anyone have a picture of this sticker? I have a 95 GSX but assume that it would be the same info for the other later car...

Resolved 2G - Replaced valve stem seals but now high idle.

I've seen several...and adding this new one to the list.... Vacuum leaks have been the cause for me, especially on those hose couplers after the intercooler. I've not had issues with the vacuum lines(egr and such) but I've heard those can play havoc as well... I had a similar issue with the rev...

Resolved 2G - Replaced valve stem seals but now high idle.

I guess the one thing that puzzled me was that I physically tried to close down the butterfly valve on the throttle body. I would have thought that it would have closed and didn't even consider the effect that the cruise control linkage would have. I had even adjusted the tps to .63v prior to...

So after adjusting the TPS(which probably didn't need to be adjusted in the end) and looking through logs and checking for any kind of leak over the past week....it turned out to be how I moved the cruise control cable(The cruise control is no longer working so I pulled the module out but left...

Bringin the power cord this time....flakey laptop battery as I found out last night. I'll get a full log and check the values as you noted. I only had the battery unplugged for maybe a day or two if that. I'll make sure to check all hoses again just in case something got jangled....

Resolved 2G - Replaced valve stem seals but now high idle.

No. I had no need to touch those. Anything under the valve cover was fair game though... Only the PCV and the other line that goes to the BOV would be the only lines I touched. I've largely returned the car to stock due to the awesome restrictions we have here in Cali and needing to get the car...

Resolved 2G - Replaced valve stem seals but now high idle.

I only touched components on the belt side....which is why I'm a little puzzled. The lines connected to the valve cover was the extent of airflow related components. This is why I was wonding if the Crank or cam sensors could cause some sort of weirdness like this. Again, target fixation on my...

I was getting smoke out the back but didn't see any when I started it up or when it got up t to temp(fwiw)... I'll look into the TPS. I do have ECMlink...unfortunatly, my laptop battery died(cheap replacement that didn't last more tan a year) before I could get some numbers.I was trying to...

I don't think the two are related, but more of info on what was done. The car is a 2ga 95 gsx with the cam position sensor on the inner side of the cam sprocket. I replaced the seals using the rope technique (stuffing the cylinders) and everything went fine. I put the cams back on, put the...

Car Failed Smog HC Portion, How do I make it pass?

I also failed my smog recently. My previous numbers were 34 and 14, but this time I hit an all time high of 104 and 80.
