My car's hood and bumper have looked pretty damn bad for years. Tons of chips due to a poor refinish before I purchased the car and then daily driving in PA winters took its toll.I got a cheap Husky gun from Home Depot as a Christmas present 2 years ago, but just took it out of the box...
Anybody looking for a 2g hatch? The wing isn't on it any more and it needs a new seal on the glass because I tried to take it off at one point. But it does have the glass and it's the most rust free hatch I've seen in some time.Let me know if you're interested.I also still have both...

I have a bunch of stuff to do to the DSM. I'll be doing as much as money will allow, focusing more on restoration and cleaning things up than performance. ...For now.I developed an exhaust leak between the turbine and o2 housing last week so I decided to park it for the Winter. I started a...

I have a 96 Tsi awd automatic. It is completely stock. The transmission has been acting strange recently and I'm not even sure how to explain it.Sometimes it seems like it's slow to get back into 1st when accelerating just after a stop. Lately, it also seems like the transmission likes to...
I just downloaded and watched day 1 of WRC Rally Turkey. They showed a quick clip of this P-WRC Evo hitting the jump going WAY to fast. I found it on youtube...<param...

Man, I just can't take these long weeks. I drive 40 miles each way to and from work every day. And when I get here I just sit around. Literally, I just sit here all day and stare at my monitor. I generally waste about an hour first thing in the morning just browsing some sites, but then I...
I just got back from vacation a few days ago and was able to get this finished up last night night.First thing I did was replace my proportioning valve. That was nice and easy, it only took me a few minutes because I don't have cruise control or a battery etc in the way. Before I put the new...
The pads just came in! Here's a quick how to on installing them:This is a diagram of the rear Evo brakes. I posted this picture so you can see how the shims should be installed. As you can tell, the wider part of the shim is the leading edge. The arrows on the shim point in the direction...

My rear brakes are locked up... again. Here's a quick run down of my brake setup. All SS braided lines. Baer track kit up front, Powerslot bbk in the rear that uses factory calipers.A few years ago one of my rear calipers seized up. The rotors and everything gets extremely hot etc...
I ordered a pair of front rotors for my dd Talon. When I unpacked one of the rotors I noticed these 2 clips/weights next to each other that snap over the veins. Are these balancing weights or something that should have been removed?
Well I've been fighting some weird vibration in my 96 Talon. I'm starting to think it could be my rotors. I got an email from Rockauto.com saying they had closeout prices on a bunch of stuff. After looking I scored Axxis MetalMasters for what believe is a great deal! $13 for the front pads...
I was headed to a picnic earlier and the car was running while I'll loaded up the hatch. When I hopped back in the battery, brake, and, AT Temp lights were all on. Pretty sure this is a sign of a dead alternator, but I wanted to check here first.I haven't really checked anything other than...
I bought my girlfriend a new camera for Christmas. Yesterday was the first time I've tried it out. Here are some pics of the car and a few others I took. I took a bunch more but some came out grainy. The ISO must have been set too high or something. Let me know what you think.
My 96 Talon awd has a vibration. It's not all the time. It comes and goes, but it will increase or decrease with vehicle speed. Not engine speed. So far I've put the wheels from my GSX on it and it still has the vibration. I've also checked the main driveshaft carrier bearings going to the...
I just got this 96 Talon a couple hours ago. It's going to be my daily driver. Let me know what you think of it. It drives great, the interior is super clean, and it's stock. Only think I can tell it needs right away are a valve cover gasket and one of the belts chirps a little bit.
Someone on my local forum posted a link to a good deal on these tires. Seems like pricing is all over the place but one guy said 255/40/17s were going for ~$90 a piece. Not bad! If anyone's looking for tires you should call and see if you can get a good price before they're all out.Just a...
Ok, has anyone else noticed that tire shops are a bunch of nansy pansy's these days? They won't mount snow tires for me because they are not the same size as factory. WTF First of all, if I'm putting snow tires on then I want them to be narrow. Second, I wanted to get all 4 tires in the same...
Hello, I get some "interesting" ideas while sitting at my desk doing nothing all day. Let me put this one out there..How about a clear bra... with saran wrap!?! This wouldn't be meant to be permanent but rather something to only be left on a few days at a time or in between washes...
Ok autocross/road race guys, what brand suspension bushings should I go with? Prothane or Energy Suspension? What do you use? I hear Prothane is has a harder durometer than Energy Suspension. Is that true and is that preferred? Is there anything else different about these kits that I should...
OK, I'm frustrated. I have the Baer Track kit (part # 4611002) front brakes. 13". I need new rotors and here's my dilemma...Baer replacement rotor are expensive, but mainly I can't find them in the configuration I want. I swore they made them in P (plain), PZ (plain, zinc coated), SZ...
As the title suggests, where can I get cheap wheels? 16 inch, 5 lug, 114.3. No more than $150 for all 4. I can't find a place like tirerack that sells cheap 16s. They used to sell steelie snow tire/wheel packages. Not any more.Finding a set of extra wheels is the only thing preventing...
So, who else likes reading and looking at pictures of some in depth build/restoration threads? It's one of my favorite ways to pass by the hours at work. Here's a few I like to get started, I can't find many of the other ones I've followed. Post some more links here if you know of some...
Yesterday was event 10 of the Steel Cities Region. And the last of the year. There were 73 drivers so it was a great turnout heading into mid October and we couldn't have had better weather. This autocross is at Consol Energy Park again. My girlfriend came out to support me and...

I'm going to walk through changing out a rear wheel hub assembly or wheel bearing, whatever you want to call it. Generally if they are really bad you can hear them growling when going around a turn. Mine wasn't that bad yet. I was rotating my tires when I noticed a little axial play...
You know, usually I think my car is pretty damn solid and doesn't need much. And some days my car likes to remind me who's boss...I've been wanting to change out my Pennsoil transmission oil for Redline. No bid deal, this is only an hour job. I put the car up on my jackstands and start...
I wanted to go to the autocross on Sunday. I had my car all packed and ready to roll Saturday night. Well the girlfriend wanted to do something else so I was kind of bummed because this is the last autocross until October 12th. I set my alarm for 6:30am to get up and decide what to do for the...

Yesterday was my first autox at Beaverun, the local motorsports complex, and also my first autox in the DSM.Luckily, I was in the first heat and got 3 dry runs in. I worked the 2nd heat and as soon as I got out there it started pouring. I was completely soaked head to toe. My girlfriend...
I've been taking stuff off of my car for a few years a little bit at a time. Just now have I started to get a little more serious about taking out some more weight. My car is not my daily driver anymore, just a weekend toy/autocrosser/HPDE(soon), so I wanted to get rid of some useless stuff...
Hey everyone,These are my first couple logs other than setting global and dead time fuel adjustments, which ended up already being dead on. Boost was only around 14-15psi.The first log is with pretty much everything unchanged. The second log is with the fuel set to -5% from 5,000rpm +...
I put my new steering wheel in a couple weeks ago and it is definitely the best mod I have done to the inside of the car.:thumb: And a must for someone over 6 feet tall. No more bumping my knees and not being able to use the pedals. It's a Momo Mod 78. 330mm or 13". 2 inches smaller in...
