My coworker and friend entered a Nestle photo contest with a picture of her daughters with one of their friends and she is one of 6 finalists for the $10,000 grand prize. Voting ends at 11:59am EST today and she is currently in 2nd place. If you have Facebook and don't mind signing in and...
I agree with RichardB on this, your main issue is that 60' time. There's a fine line between bog and spin with these cars, and slipping the clutch properly is key. I was able to get consistent 2.2-2.23 60' times on street tires after A LOT of practice at the track, even with the lighter...
Keep my 1g, make it RWD, still daily driveable with a/c and cruise and a nice crisp low-key system with some bump in the trunk, and fast enough to pull the front tires past the 60' mark :D
My ex-gf drove my car a couple times, she knew how to drive stick though, she had a 5-speed Civic. She's seen me bang gears and blow the tires off in 1st and 2nd, so she wanted to do the same. I told her to watch the tach and have at it, but she could barely chirp 2nd. She tried a few more...
Bought my '94 with 49k miles on it, and at 50k I took it into a local shop to have the timing belt/water pump done. Got it back a couple days later, drove it about 10 miles before the new belt skipped a couple teeth and bent 9 valves! Had it towed back there and they had it for another month...
Mine hasn't been completely down, but I've been limping it around town for about 3 years now without being able to take it to the track. It's been slowly spewing oil since my last track day, and with money being extremely tight, gathering parts for the engine build has been slow at best...
I'm going as:Gonna make a squirrel and rabbit out of clay and have them hanging on my belt with pins in them...and if I can find the gopher I'll carry it around too, with a noose around it's neck.
Paid $7,300 for my '94 Eclipse fwd turbo in the spring of 2000. Had 49k on the clock, and was completely untainted...down to the paper filter in the airbox. It's been a curse to me ever since LOL
I agree with 91tizzy...the tires are probably fine, you've got issues elsewhere.I use those tires too and love them (check my profile for size). On street tires, my best 60' was 2.2x, and dropped instantly to 1.8x with just the slicks. They take some getting used to when you first get them...
Yep, good idea to get the other mounts in asap. I used to have it bad enough where, besides kicking on the wipers, my coin tray would flip open and change could bounce out, haha
To be honest, every single car is different so it would be in your best interest to get a logger. I also have a big 16g with 550's and the S-AFC I so I can tell you it's well worth it. Then search the site here for a guide to help tune with the S-AFC and a logger, it's around here somewhere...
Yes that is normal...when you let off the gas the ECU stops supplying fuel to the engine, so it leans out. You should also notice when you're at cruising at highway speeds it will read more lean than if you were at WOT, so don't worry about that either. Also, the reason you have to set the...
I dated a girl for a few years who loved my car almost as much as I did. She helped me with the install of my FMIC, was sitting shotgun when I tuned with the S-AFC, and tagged along to the track with me every time, even helping with bolting on the slicks and getting stuff ready. Hell, she even...
I hadn't seen the 2nd video either until now. It's sad to say, but unless something drastic happens, that kid's life is headed straight to the crapper. I agree that we're too soft on kids nowadays...like all you guys said, if we did something bad and got caught, we sure as hell felt it!
While replacing the harmonic balancer on my car, I had the 4 bolts removed but the pulley just wasn't coming off. So I laid under the car with a hammer and screwdriver slowly tapping it side-to-side so it would shimmy off. Well I guess I forgot my face was directly below the approximately 5lb...
Oh I snatched the hell outta 2nd...in both the videos I'm only in 1st gear to get the tires going, then it's a quick shift and right to 7k for the instasmoke
Got my Eclipse in 2000 when I was 19, and it was completely bone stock. Still have it 7 years and lots of bolt-ons later, and it's just now needing a rebuild after all the beatings I put it through.
I'm always in the mood to beat on some SRT-4's too. And I pulled out some old time slips and your 2nd run is almost identical to one of my runs a while back(9.82 @ 73.2mph) and I ran a 15.1 at 92mph in the 1/4.
My brother has been a firefighter for a few years now and he said fire school was either a 6-month(the more intense of the 2) or 1-year program and is very challenging...both mentally and physically. His shifts are 24 on 48 off. He says there is also tons of room for advancement, from just...
Also have a question about main caps, are the stock ones ok to use?? When I bought my bare block that's the one thing I forgot about, and now I desperately need them, if anybody has any laying around I'd love to buy them from you!EDIT: Searched and found that stock caps will be fine for my...
I would expect to see something bent when you pull it apart. A shop changed my timing belt when I first got my car, it skipped a tooth, bent 9 valves...twas not a good day.
You have to first see what angle your tires are sitting at, then get back under the car and adjust the tie rod ends accordingly. If it's not too extreme, just drive the car slowly to whatever shop you want to align it. It doesn't matter if your steering wheel is crooked, so don't worry about...
Time to get started on my first engine build, here's what I have so far:BLOCK
'94 turbo block
Eagle 7-bolt crank
Eagle rods
Wiseco 8.3 pistons, 0.020 over
ARP rod & main studs
BS eliminator kit
King main & rod bearingsHEAD
1g head
OEM valves
BC 280 cams
BS springs/retainers...
Don't drive the car at all before you replace it. Mine came apart on me and it slung my belts off, stopping the water pump, alternator and power steering all at once. That's not a nice surprise when you're trying to muscle the steering wheel through a corner, then being stopped in traffic...
If you don't like a lot of prep time try any of the Campbell's supper bakes meal-in-a-box type dinners, or the Viola frozen stir fry dinners...they're all quick and easy.
- Dumb@sses who sling across 2 lanes of traffic just to slam on their brakes right in front of me to make a turn without even the hint of a signal.
- People who come into my work(I work in a tire shop) wondering why 22" and 24" tires cost more than their stock 15's...WTF are you kidding me?!?!
-...
I've run 15psi on stock fuel no problem. But as soon as I got my boost controller my stock clutch was slipping less than a week later, so you might want to consider putting that on the list to get soon.Other than that I'd just drive it in stock form for a few weeks to make sure it's...
June 2005: ACT clutch spring decided it didn't want to stay attached to the rest of the disc. My dad actually pulled it behind his Blazer to the Mitsu dealership, but after being there for over a month and them not having a mechanic who was competent enough to install another ACT 2100 kit with...
