Hardest,most time consuming=belt allignment
Making sure everything is pointing in the right direction when you release the tension on that little special tool specifically used for this job.
A lil"kick"between the flex and o2 may be needed, maybe not.You should probably drive it to make sure it clears everything and doesn't rattle.Looks like it's gonna be pretty loud.
I don't have a mandrel bender so I used the 3.5" bends off a Ford F350 diesel tailpipe to compensate.I still used a piece of 3" for the center pipe.Lemme tell you that 3.5 downpipe looks pretty phat. The 3" flex tube fit perfectly up to the downpipe.Ran my intermediate(center pipe)Then added the...
That's the size of the bend I used off a F350 tailpipe.Need it?No,not right now but I got it so why redo it later?Flows like no tomorrow and doesn't look too bad except for the muff.
I found Magnaflow to offer a stainless stock looking oval w/ dual 2.25" stainless/stamped tips.
My only prob is they don't offer it w/ a 3.5" inlet. They are polished tips
Really, find a real custom exhaust specialists:cool:
With a mig,some tubing,a bender,a chop-saw,and a torch you can do anything.
I took some 3.5" mandrel bends off a F350 diesel tailpipe and used'em for my downpipe and rear under axle bend to muff.I welded in a new threaded O/2 bung/nut for...
Why keep sidemount, cause I'm trying to stay pretty much stock looking.I hate body work and the front bumper job is still under warranty from an insurance claim.I read somewhere that somebody using an injection kit had 0 heat/knock etc..when running a small 16g.I don't plan on going bigger than...
Wow good post.I understood all your views,attitudes,etc...This is how I learn about my DSM and the direction I wanna take for modding it.I'm sure there's alot of peep @ this stage that have sim questions.I for one am wondering if I can get away w/ keeping my side-mount and add a water injection...
OK now either tell me in this thread or start a new one explaining how to get rid of my PO170 (fuel trim malfunction). w/resistors?O2 simulator does the same thing right?
I don't know Y, ask the previous owner.I bought it w/ that many miles on it.Wanted an untouched GSX.I meant I had no idea a lil four banger would be affected that much. You can't tell that much when your running on 7 outta 8cylinders
I replaced them w/ Taylor sport compact series wires.Taylor also offers a full metal jacket for xtreme race applications. The OEM wires I took off had 125k miles on them.Tho I could not see any white rings around the sleeve part of the wires that fits over the plug.I went ahead and wrapped some...
If you like the sound of the SRT4,just pull the entire exhaust off one and weld it up to your car.I utilized a used exhaust system off a F350 for the mandrel 3.5" bends for my down pipe and rear underaxle bend.Don't be guttin no mufflers!
Dam i just got pulled over.Cop says he can give me a ticket for anything other than factory "modified exhaust":nono:
A lil 12"Glasspack out the end might be pretty loud and cheap not to mention they last 10+yrs.We turbo guys use 'em as resonators:tease:
I bent a 2.5"alluminized pipe to go in place of my stock UICP.Then I marked where I wanted my 1G flange to go.Cut it out w/a torch. Then I welded the flange to the pipe w/ a mig and bolted my 1G BOV.Pics are in my gallery.
Alluminized should last the life of the vehicle. At least ten years in conditions such as your region expieriences. Then again, I've seen some pretty rusty autos come from up north.
:thumb: Worked for me.Pulled my filter off and the threaded/spindle the filter screws onto was indeed loose. Was EZ to retighten.Haven't had any problems since.
The 15w-50 Extended Performance oil from Mobil1 does not say"approved for turbo vehicles".I couldn't find the old stuff. However I did find a bottle of regular 10w-30 synthetic Mobil1 that said "approved for turbo-charged vehicles".Pretty sure this was a newer bottle so I'm guessing they did not...
Something loose inside a muffler would be a broken baffle or chunks of a busted converter. If you get a used muff shake it before install.Make sure it doesn't rattle. If it's already on the car then just give it a good palm hit from the bottom to see if you can make it produce that noise you're...
Will not pass the visual true but as far as the sniffer goes I passed w/out a converter in Spokane,Wa. I couldn't believe it either so I kept the emission result sheet for proof.
Save time and money,go have it done for the price quoted. There is nothing wrong w/ ordering mandrel bends from J.C. If you go that route you might as well do it all yourself.
Yep everything sounds right to me.There's not that many bends in our exhaust system so the press bent part will hardly differ from a mandrel.Especially 3". Normally charge around $40 bucks to install your own muff.$45 for a test pipe.TRUE not that many exhaust shops have a $250000 mandrel bender...
What Magnaflow muffler do you have on it? They do have the STi set-up for the WRX.
I have a regular V8 muffler on mine and it does the same thing as yours. Can't wait to cut it off and put a straight thru fart-can on.
If having a water/oil cooled turbo is extra security then why don't more peep choose this option when offered?I would think if it prolongs the life of the turbo it would be stupid not to.
 I wonder why Oklahoma doesn't have 93 v-power @ Shell?
The highest octane rating @ any Shell in Okla is 92. Yet, the Sinclair down the street has upped their super to 93. Don't get me started on the 3.2% alc. beer here, jeez! Anyway, good luck w/ the new set-up.
Yo Stoner, sounds like you've worked in muff shop before. I bent my UICP
outta 2.5 alluminized. We stopped using regular steel tubing a decade ago. Rusts out too quick and is way too heavy.
Originally this post was about "choosing T04B or 16G".
Now it's about the turbo that he or she chose right? So who all has this turbo and why isnt your review on the Bullseye website? Still total reviews for this turbo 1. As far as I can tell it's been :thumb: for the T04B.
Bent all mine outta 2.5 alluminized.
Only to replace my factory hoses
and weld a 1G BOV bracket.
Still stock side mount,lol.
Benefits of working in a
muff shop.
Heat bending only as last resort really. It takes temper out of the
pipe. You get a torch (o2/accetylene) and turn it up.
Get the area you want the bend to be at red hot. It will
bend with ease. Leaves an ugly ripple in the pipe tho.
It is easier and quicker than having pipe rebent.
Find a...
