Well my original plan is to :
*1. Keep the roof black and paint the car a HOK marblized green. (the hood, fenders, sideskirts and eventually the bumber will be left carbon fiber but the marbled paint will still "pearl" over the carbon.*2. Option two....I have none!!! Anybody have any...
I am sure someone on this forum must have a quick release hub/steering wheel setup and I need to know what size the spindle is. There are a couple different sizes like 5/8 and 3/4" listed but no reference as to which size for a DSM. Any help or point me in the right direction, I appreciate it...
Ahhh... your work is coming a long way since the first fuel doors. That is really smooth work. Trust me, molds are not too extremely difficult. You'll get the hang of it and even though you could read up on it nothing beats actually doing IT, failing and then succeeding. There are so many...
I wasn't going to post up any longer on DSM forums...mostly cause it's a "pride" thing...I just really hated to close down ya' know? Didn't want to have to answer alot of questions and such.
No, I wasn't the BEST composites fabricator out there but I did find a nice niche with my love (and...
Casting resins that are made for high temp applications would work. I NEVER use Kleer Kote for exterior or engine bay apps. Actually I stopped using it all together cause even after just a year parts exposed to the sun will turn yellow. Seriously it is best used in home or resturant situations...
There are not any additives that you add BUT actual high temp resins if you search composite stores online. Maybe go into one of the composite forums and ask around. I would still think metal to be the best option as even over time fiberglass will still break down due to the heat and cooling...
US Composites is a great vendor and the prices are nice as well. I have been going thru them almost exclusively for about 4 years now. www.fiberglast.com has gotten watered down and yes most of the replies are vague...try going over to www.icancomposites.com A few of us older forum members...
Mine walked at around 76,000 miles, but NO it is not common in an AT. Also keep in mind that my car is modded and raced which I am sure helped elevate the situation. Now there are Clevite bearings in there, ARPs, no balance shafts, center dowel alignment kit from MachV (hey, worth a try), and...
:D Can always make them with just fiberglass only!
I just think this is a better option than vinyl cutouts personally. Thanks again for the kudos guys.
As for the type of bulbs/size and such he used for the headlights...I will have to find out. I gave the projectors back to him to sell on...
:( Can a mod please delete my double post? I mis-typed a word and when editing somehow made it a double post. Hmm.
Anyhow, thanks for the compliments guys, glad you like the armrest Paledsm, you did take off the old vinyl right?
Here is a pic of the originals on my buddies car. The front...
I'll keep it really simple, because I do make other various parts for different vehicles other than DSMs and have been undermined before. No hard feelings....but to be brief I made a fiberglass plug of the eyebrow area and shaped/shaded it till it was the shape needed, then made a few master...
Well I have been wanting to make these for awhile now and finally got the chance. What do ya' think? Of course it is "ricey", come on now guys.
Since my Bomex kit is for the Eclipse and not the Talon I will have to switch over my headlight style anyhow and these will go nicely. I...
God willing, 2005 will be a helluva' year for AT DSMs!!
Hopefully either Russ or Kiggly make it there to the 8's. Either man there would be great!!!
I will be very happy myself to hit the 11's next year.
Good luck to both of you two and hope to spot ya' sometime running.

This is true, I like te fact my mats doesn't scoot around...but if you absolutely have to have the hole in your mats for the hook just insert a grommet used for tarps and such....if you have aftermarket carpet (and they never make the hook it seems) then you are out of luck, only the factory put...
Hey everyone, I emailed Todd at StockInteriors.com about whether the carpets had the hook and the mats the hole and he said this....
"No, Our floormats aren't made with the hole... for the main reason,
because aftermarket carpet doesnt include that hook, so the hole would be
useless...
Hey guys, check out www.stockinteriors.com
They have mats that are OEM fit, choice of colors and that does includes black. They also sell the full interior carpet set and also the carpet for the rear trunk section as well. They are cheaper than ACC Mats and better quality than what else I have...
Does Jo-Anne Fabrics stock it as "headliner" material or do they call it something else clothing related? Just curious cause i might go buy some in black. Also, what adhesive is recommended that will not lose it's stickyness after a year or so?

Nah, I know that. I was just adding my little intro. :) No worries from me.Thanks for the props. I do not take any of it as flaming on me. I am a really easy going individual and take all things in stride! :) The 12.4 suprised the crap out of me as well. 13.3 was the old time, IPT tranny...
I guess I will jump in the fire as well here...but what can I say that doesn't make me look like I am hanging on IPT's dick? Rest assured though if I wasn't happy with them I would definitely say so. Would my IPT tranny breaking down make me mad at them or discredit IPTs work? Not this far into...

No idea really. :( I can see if I have an old log from a few weeks ago and see if it was recorded...also the car was logged with 93 octane. Ran the 12.4 with a mix of 93 and 111.

a bit off topic but I remember back in the mini-trucking days my buddy had a Mighty Max that said "Mitsubishi" on the tailgate....anyhow, when he customized the truck and painted it he had certain letters painted the same as the body so his tailgate said..
MI UB HI (My, you be high!)Kinda'...
Nobody has mentioned it but that front end on the first pic looks like the front end off the newer Mitsu SUVs and mini SUVs. Next time you see one take notice and you will see it looks similar just exagerated a bit....at least it looks like they used the same styling cues. The way that "shield...
No sir! Great way to blow your tranny, even a built one. You can do it several ways...
*just leave the car in D with the OD off and let it shift on its own
*start off in L and shift it manually up but never back down like you mentioned hearing
*start in 2nd and shift from there alsoIf...
I plan to go with a 50 trim so when this happens I will post up results but it might be awhile. As for Russ's tranny, yes he changes the filters/gasket and fluids after so many runs BUT since he has been with IPT it hasn't been torn down to replace broken tranny "parts", jammed valve body...
My stall is around 3800 as well and works fine for around town and city driving. I also thought at first this would be too much for daily driving and I would get smacked someday trying to make it across the street! :p
But there really is not that much of a noticable difference to me. Yes...
Here is the web site link2g DSM Harness bar
I do no think the passengers will be able to sit back there any longer with this bar installed. I haven't installed mine yet.
Leo
He used to have a 'glassed dash but OEM looking. They totally redid the car this year. Yeh, that cluster is crazy! I think of the Sentinels from the Matrix when I see it. He will definitely do well on the circuit this year and will be in HCI in the next couple months.
Leo
The mirrors are the Mercedes SLK kind. But yeh, he omitted/added a couple things that make it work alot better than most folks. I posted and interior shot in another thread about a "custom console" as well.
Leo
You could also buy a harness bar to keep it even more simple....just a thought. I got one from DVDT, chro-moly/TIG welded, then chromed for show  ....I have yet to install it but will post up some picks once it is in. Paid like $200 including the chroming.
Leo
Sorry to get to this so late but I know Frank personally as well and work with him frequently. He definitely doesn't dick anyone around, a stand-up type of guy he is. Old school Sicilian.Keep in mind though that he is only one guy down there. He does it all by himself. And believe me when I...
Sloooooooooowly! I have been so swamped with other projects and these fenders I was to use as a mold have that ugly flange that needs to be remade. My fenders will be painted to match the car with the vent as the "cf knockout" showing.
Leo
A remanned one from ProTorque. When John did the tranny rebuild he did cut it open to make sure it was not the cause of problems and it was fine so it went back in the car. Of course a billet IPT number will go in there at a later date when this one goes out if ever.
Leo
Me? Well it has never been good even before the tranny work. I have always been heavy footed and stay in the throttle quite often so I never really tallied my gas mileage up. :(My stall speed is somewhere around 3500-3800 and I drive this car EVERYDAY! Took just some minor geting use too...
Be carful where you get them. I have that same style fender from Aspec Motorsports and the flange where it bolts to the car (inner fender lip by hood edge) was all wavey and I now have to cut and remake that part....of course this is so I can make a mold and then remake them ultra lite in...
I just checked and the mod list is still up. Go here www.carbonwerks.com/Carbonwerksshopcar.html and you should see all the work done so far. Basic stuff really or what I think should have been stock from factory at least!! :p
Leo
I will have video of of few peoples runs and mine on the web site along with lots of pics. I will post a link to the video when I get it compiled and uploaded. I think I have enough bandwidth. I met soooo many folks there....def' going next year for sure!!! Thanks for the props to guys.
Leo
Thanks for the props! Yeh, I was really amazed with the 12.48! I seriously thought a 12.6 at the most that last run. I will be trying for 11s really soon. I didn't tune at all while there. Just race gas and upped the boost...left the AFC alone. Was running 1.09 on 111 so I think alot more was in...
My bad, only one time in the beginning I busted my time but the guy red lighted. The rest were straight up wins except the last.
None the less I still was happy with my final time! :)
