If you are the type to adjust them and dial them in, I think I would go with the adjustable megan racing for the extra cash just like you said. That makes sense to me.
I was looking for this information a few months back. I wanted to know what was a good option for a daily driver 2g DSM. I was first going to go with lowering springs and shocks however the eibach pro kit for AWD had been discontinued. This was what I was reading in the forums as the best...
I've been having a similar problem. I'm still fixing a small boost leak or two but I will be watching this thread closely if my issue isn't resolved after fixing the leaks. I did change my throttle body with remanufactured one and swapped to BPR6ES with a gap of .28 and it helped.
I'm bringing this back from the dead to give an update. This problem returned later and the car mostly sat for several years and I didn't mess with it. The problem seems to be related to a boost leak I missed at the throttle body. Becuase the car was running poorly I turned down the boost. This...
I'm not as knowledgeable as you but I have a suggestion. Have you checked the alternator under load? My understanding is that DSM shuts off alternator at WOT however with evo ECU it will stay on and if not putting out the required juice at higher RPM it could be an issue. That is more of an...
So I had a frayed seatbelt, got a replacement. I feel like I am insane because no matter how I try the belt must be turned 180 degrees (flipped) to install on the hook (the pulley that goes up and down). The passenger side is not like that and is a straight shot with no turns from the retractor...
Swapped fuel pump, A/F ratio went down to 10.2 during WOT. Seems like it solved the issue. The filter on the back of the pump was very, very dirty so it could have been related as well.
I meant the compression is the same as when it ran well, it was of course checked with the vehicle off and at operating temperature.I can't reset it because it's the stock unit. I do have a spare so I could replace it or order an adjustable one. Thanks for the responses.
So it came to my attention that the alternator was tested idling and the guy at the shop said it was below 30 amps so needed to be replaced. I looked into my car records and is diagnosis was nonsensical because that would be normal at idle according to my alternators papers. I should have caught...
Thanks for your help, I'm already running fresh BPR7ES gapped at .028-.030I do have a wideband. The narrow seems okay, due to your suggestion of the o2 sensor I will have my wideband emulate my shortband today via my tuning kit to rule out o2 sensor issue.Detailed symptoms:
Car idles...
1. Do the combs pop out spontaneously?2. I should do a boost leak because I haven't in awhile, but wouldn't a boost leak cause a rich condition, not lean?3. BIS is the screw that you can adjust idle with right? Are you suggesting it can leak boost or that I need to adjust it?
So here is what happened. My turbo timer froze during countdown while I was at school and the car remained on for roughly 4-5 hours idling. After that my car would stutter/hesitate a little when i first hit the gas at low throttle. I didn't run it hard because it didn't seem quite right. I...
Hi, I am in ANNANDALE,,I've owned this DSM of mine for like 7 years but I have never changed my own timing belt. My car just rolled up on 180,000 and I'm looking to change my belt this weekend.I'm willing to provide beer, food and even pay to have someone come lend a hand and or just hang...
I think I may actually use this stuff at 180,000 miles. I have around 205-215 compression across all 4 cylinders and I'm getting occasional random misfires. I'm thinking it might be the carbon buildup.
Don't worry too much. These cars aren't so bad. I have owned mine for 6.5 years without a single major problem. One time on the highway a coil pack went bad that's about it.I bought it for $5,500 with 115,000 miles on it and now it has 179,000 miles on it and I still boost 20 psi daily...
Is it weird that the video made me want to come less? WTFBut if your video was as awesome as this one, I'd come there EVERY DAY.<param name="allowFullScreen"...
Wow the one time I actually come it rains when I'm about 10 minutes away. Then I got lost because of my GPS. I think I found the lot that you guys meet at but I'm not sure lol I was there alone.
What kind of citations are they handing out? Driving offenses or random stuff like exhaust tickets? I'm not coming if they are handing out exhaust tickets to responsible drivers lol I can't afford that kind of trip to a church parking lot.
How long are you guys out there til?I usually race R/C cars with some friends on saturday night but I could possibly come after. Let me know. -BTW, any of you guys playing that halo reach beta? Me and my girlfriend are hooked on it.
I find my Talon to be extremely reliable.I have 175,000 miles on my car. I've had the car since 115,000 milesThe problems I have come across in the 5 years I've owned it is:clutch master cylinder
Slave cylinder x2
Clutch itself
Coil pack
valve cover gasket
alternator
A/C...
I guess that IS true. I get spiteful when people make generalizations that include me I don't feel are true.I wanted to be there though no matter what you say.I apologize for saying he wasn't dedicated enough. I'm still down to meet and I still think that a mailing list would help outcome...
Personally, in my opinion, your not dedicated enough to create a meet. Not that I'm saying I am or anything. If I was setting up a meet, I'd have everyones phone number and email.I'd have a texting mailing list and an email mailing list. One week before you send a bulk text/email to all...
It doesn't work better for you? At stock boost levels they are probably very similar. To be honest, at stock boost level my 16g felt like my T-25. Run your 14b at like 18-19 psi (t-25 cant even do that topend) and it will be a big difference.
In regards to this, I remember reading an article somewhere that described the manufacturers of the 2g DSM as trying to give it a more "muscle" feel. As in making it feel more torquey like a 6 or 8 cylinder. Naturally, a small turbo kind of emulates that effect.
Please heed 1993eclipseGS's advice. He is correct about all the he posted. You could use an engine out of a 2.0 DOHC dodge neon as a replacement if you need a donor motor, or of course, out of another non-turbo hardtop eclipse or talon between the years of 95-99. If you want a talon with a...
Oh you are right, Sterling, VA. My bad I'm new to the area its an easy mistake to make. They want $600-700 for a timing belt jobSage automotive in Norfolk quoted me $350-375. I was surprised at the price so I asked them if it included tensioner and belt and they said yes. I asked if the...
Mach V motorsports is in Springfield VA. They deal with evo/dsm. They are expensive as shit though. Also, SAGE automotive in Norfolk works with DSM and EVO a lot. They are really really well priced and all around good guys. Personal friends of mine.
Yeah, I named my car Talon. I know.... not very original.:ohdamn:But I pronounce it TAL - LON.I think I did it because there was this weird owner of a DSM shop that said it weird like that so I started saying it jokingly... Not as interesting as naming it after a killer car from a movie..
